A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that you did the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833)

B. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

C. Get Access
NOTE: You can also do this procedure if you remove the left fan cowl and the left thrust reverser and access the floating hinges above the right thrust reverser door (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-10-000-801), (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-01-000-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-01-000-803).
   (1) Make sure that the right fan cowl is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-20-000-801).
   (2) Make sure that the applicable right thrust reverser is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-02-000-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-02-000-803).
   (3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position.
4. Procedure
Subtask 78-30-05-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
A. Install the Thrust Reverser Floating Hinges as follows:
NOTE: Make sure that you install the same number of floating hinge assemblies (6) and (7) that you removed.
   (1) Installation of the R1 floating hinge assembly (6).
     (a) Apply a layer of the grease (Material No.PU5-001) to the shanks of the two hinge pins (4).
     (b) Install the 636-3000-9GSE TR THREADS PROTECTOR on the hinge pin (4).
       1 Tighten the 636-3000-9GSE TR THREADS PROTECTOR manually.
     (c) Put the R1 floating hinge assembly (6) between the engine and the pylon.
       1 Align the R1 floating hinge assembly (6) between the lugs of the R1 hinge on the thrust reverser door.
     (d) Attach the R1 floating hinge assembly (6) to the R1 hinge with the hinge pin (4).
     (e) Remove the 636-3000-9GSE TR THREADS PROTECTOR from the hinge pin (4).
     (f) Install the techtrom washer (5), washer (2) and nut (1) on the hinge (4) at the R1 hinge position.
       1 TORQUE the nut (1) to between 182 and 172 lbf.in (2.06 and 1.94 m.daN ) T.
   (2) Installation of the R2 floating hinge assembly (7).
     (a) Apply a layer of the grease (Material No.
PU5-001) to the shanks of the hinge pins (4).
     (b) Install the 636-3000-9GSE TR THREADS PROTECTOR on the hinge pin (4).
       1 Tighten the 636-3000-9GSE TR THREADS PROTECTOR manually.
     (c) Put the R2 floating hinge assembly (7) between the engine and the pylon.
       1 Align the R2 floating hinge assembly (7) between the lugs of the R2 hinge on the thrust reverser door.
     (d) Attach the R2 floating hinge assembly (7) to the R2 hinge with the hinge pin (4) and techtrom washers (3).
     (e) Remove the 636-3000-9GSE TR THREADS PROTECTOR from the hinge pin (4).
     (f) Install the techtrom washer (3), washer (2) and nut (1) on the hinge pin (4) at the R2 hinge position.
       1 TORQUE the nut (1) to between 182 and 172 lbf.in (2.06 and 1.94 m.daN ) T.
   (3) Install the forward hinge access panel (1) (451DL) or (461DL) of the left thrust reverser (
Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-06-400-801).
NOTE: If the left thrust reverser is removed, install the forward hinge access panel (452DR) or (462DR) of the right thrust reverser.
5. Close-up
Subtask 78-30-05-410-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the applicable right thrust reverser (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-02-400-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-02-400-803).
NOTE: If you removed the left thrust reverser, refer to (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-01-400-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-01-400-803) to install the left thrust reverser.
   (3) Install the right fan cowl (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-20-400-801).
NOTE: If you removed the left fan cowl, refer to (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-10-400-801) to install the left fan cowl.

B. Do the reactivation of the thrust reverser system after maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-440-805).

C. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Remove the access platform(s).
   (2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
