D. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Ground Maintenance

YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). E. Get Access

F. Get Access
(2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position.
4. ProcedureCAUTION:
DO NOT EXTEND THE THRUST REVERSER TRANSLATING SLEEVE MORE THAN 3.93 IN. (100 MM) WHEN THE THRUST REVERSER DOOR ON THE INBOARD SIDE IS OPEN. THE TRANSLATING SLEEVE CAN HIT THE SLATS AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENTS.
(1) Make sure that the thrust reverser cowl-doors are open to the first notch or sufficient to get access to the track lock cover and track lock (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-860-802). (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position.
CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
CAUTION:
HYDRAULIC FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT. IF HYDRAULIC FLUID FALLS ON A SURFACE, IMMEDIATELY CLEAN THE SURFACE WITH A CLEAN CLOTH.
Subtask 78-31-50-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Installation of the TRAS Hydraulic Lines
(2) Installation of the track-lock return tube (28), track-lock control tube (29) and track-lock return-tube (30):
(a) Put the track-lock return tube (28), the track-lock control tube (29) and the track-lock return tube (30) through the latch beam.
(b) Put the grommet (31) on the track-lock return tube (28), the track-lock control tube (29) and the track-lock return tube (30).
(c) Attach the track-lock return tube (28), the track-lock control tube (29) and the track-lock return tube (30) to the latch beam with the grommet (31).
(d) Remove the COVER - PROTECTION from the track-lock return tube (28), the track-lock control tube (29) and the track-lock return tube (30).
(e) Apply thin layer of lubricant (Material No.PU6-0003) to the threads of the track-lock return tube (28), the track-lock control tube (29) and the track-lock return-tube (30) fittings.
(f) Connect the track-lock return tube (28), track-lock control tube (29) and track-lock return tube (30) to the track locking unit.
1 Do not torque the tube fittings at this time.
(3) Installation of the track-lock return tube (21), track-lock control tube (22) and track-lock return tube (23):
(a) Put the track-lock return tube (21), track-lock control tube (22) and track-lock return tube (23) through the outboard aft bulkhead of the torque box.
(b) Put the six clamps on the track-lock return tube (21), track-lock control tube (22) and track-lock return tube (23).
(c) Mix thePU4-0002 epoxy primer, fluid resistant , PU4-0004A curing solution, epoxy primer and thinner (Material No.PU4-0005) . Refer to the instructions of the manufacturer.
PU4-0002 epoxy primer, fluid resistant mixture.
(e) Attach the track-lock return tube (21), track-lock control tube (22), track-lock return tube (23) and the six clamps (27) to the latch beam brackets. Use the six bolts (25) and the six washers (26).
PU4-0002 epoxy primer, fluid resistant mixture with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and PU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl . Remove the PU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before PU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl becomes dry.
(g) Put the grommet (24) on the track-lock return tube (21), track-lock control tube (22) and track-lock return tube (23).
(h) Attach the track-lock return tube (21), track-lock control tube (22) and track-lock return tube (23) to the outboard aft bulkhead of the torque box with the grommet (24).
(i) Remove the CAP - PROTECTION from the track-lock return tube (21), track-lock control tube (22) and track-lock return tube (23).
(j) Apply thin layer of lubricant (Material No.PU6-0003) to the threads of the track-lock return tube (21), track lock control tube (22) and track-lock return-tube (23) fittings.
(k) Connect the track-lock return tube (28) to the track-lock return tube (21).
(a) Wet install the bolts (18) with thePU4-0002 epoxy primer, fluid resistant mixture.
(b) Put the clamp (20) on the track-lock return tube (17).
(c) Attach the track-lock return tube (17) and the clamp (20) to the harness support electrical-bracket. Use the bolt (18) and the washer (19).
PU4-0002 epoxy primer, fluid resistant mixture with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and PU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl . Remove the isopropyl alcohol with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before PU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl becomes dry.
(e) Remove the CAP - PROTECTION from the track-lock return tube (17) and the locking actuator.
(f) Apply a thin layer of lubricant (Material No.PU6-0003) to the threads of the track-lock return-tube (17) fitting.
(g) Connect the track-lock return tube (23) to the track-lock return tube (17).
(a) Apply a thin layer of lubricant (Material No.PU6-0003) to the threads of the track-lock-valve supply-tube (16) fittings.
(b) Connect the track-lock valve supply-tube (16) to the locking actuator and the track lock valve.
(a) Put the ten clamps (15) on the stow tube (11) and the return tube (12).
(b) Attach the stow tube (11), the return tube (12) and the ten clamps (15) to the torque box gussets. Use the five bolts (13) and the five washers (14).
(d) Apply thin layer of lubricant (Material No.PU6-0003) to the threads of the stow tube (11) and the return tube (12) fittings.
(e) Connect the stow tube (11) and the return tube (12) to the feedback locking actuator and the locking actuator.
(a) Make sure that there are no kinks in the tubes (11), (12), (16), (17), (21), (22), (23), (28), (29) and (30).
(8) Tighten the tube fittings as follows:
(a) TORQUE the track-lock return-tube (30) fitting on the track locking unit
to between 190 and 170 lbf.in (2.15 and 1.92 m.daN )

(b) TORQUE the track-lock control-tube (29) fitting on the track locking unit
to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
.
(c) TORQUE the track-lock return-tube (28) fittings on the track locking unit and the track-lock return tube (21) to between 190 and 170 lbf.in (2.15 and 1.92 m.daN )
.
(d) TORQUE the track-lock return tube (23) fittings on the track-lock return tube (30) and on the track-lock return tube (17) to between 190 and 170 lbf.in (2.15 and 1.92 m.daN )
.
(e) TORQUE the track-lock control tube (22) fittings on the track-lock control tube (29) and the track lock valve to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
.
(f) TORQUE the track-lock return-tube (21) fittings on the track lock valve
to between 190 and 170 lbf.in (2.15 and 1.92 m.daN )
.
(g) TORQUE the track-lock return-tube (17) fitting on the locking actuator
to between 190 and 170 lbf.in (2.15 and 1.92 m.daN )
.
(h) TORQUE the track-lock-valve supply-tube (16) fittings on the track lock valve and the locking actuator to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
.
(i) TORQUE the return tube (12) fittings on the locking actuator and the feedback locking actuator to between 190 and 170 lbf.in (2.15 and 1.92 m.daN )
.
(j) TORQUE the stow tube (11) fittings on the locking actuator and the feedback locking actuator to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
.
(9) Tighten the bolts as follows:
(a) TORQUE the bolts (13), (18) and (25) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN )
.
(10) Install the track lock cover on the latch beam (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-38-400-801).
(11) Install the return hose (5), deploy hose (6) and stow hose (7):
(a) Remove the plugs (8), (9) and (10) from the deploy hose (6), return hose (5) and stow hose (7).
(b) Remove the CAP - PROTECTION from the pylon interface, feedback locking actuator, return hose (5), deploy hose (6) and stow hose (7).
(c) Install the deploy hose (6), return hose (5) and stow hose (7) on the pylon.
(f) Tighten the deploy hose (6), return hose (5) and stow hose (7) fittings as follows:
1 TORQUE the return hose (5) fitting at the pylon interface to between 204 and 177 lbf.in (2.31 and 2.00 m.daN )

2 TORQUE the deploy hose (6) fitting at the pylon interface to between 735 and 664 lbf.in (8.31 and 7.50 m.daN )
.
3 TORQUE the stow hose (7) fitting at the pylon interface to between 283 and 257 lbf.in (3.20 and 2.90 m.daN )
.
4 TORQUE the return hose (5) fitting at the feedback locking actuator to between 190 and 170 lbf.in (2.15 and 1.92 m.daN )
.
5 TORQUE the deploy hose (6) fitting at the feedback locking actuator to between 945 and 855 lbf.in (10.68 and 9.66 m.daN )
.
6 TORQUE the stow hose (7) fitting at the feedback locking actuator to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
.
(g) Put the line block (3) on the return hose (5), deploy hose (6) and stow hose (7).
(h) Put the line block (3) with the return hose (5), deploy hose (6) and stow hose (7) in the line block frame (32). Make sure that the line block (3) fits in the line block frame (32) and is in the correct position.
(i) Close the line block frame (32) and attach it to the torque box disconnect panel with the two bolts (1), the two washers (2) and the two nuts (4).
(j) TORQUE the nuts (4) to between 27 and 24 lbf.in (0.31 and 0.27 m.daN )
.
5. Close-upNOTE: The following procedures are for the installation of the left thrust-reverser TRAS hydraulic-tubes and hoses. Right thrust-reverser TRAS hydraulic-tubes and hoses are opposite.
NOTE: You can use base primer (Material No.PU4-0002C) or base primer (Material No.PU4-0002D) with curing solution (Material No.PU4-0009) or base primer (Material No.PU4-0002E) with converter (Material No.PU4-0007) as an alternative to PU4-0002 epoxy primer, fluid resistant .
(1) Removal of the protection covers: CAUTION:
REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
(a) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine. (2) Installation of the track-lock return tube (28), track-lock control tube (29) and track-lock return-tube (30):
(a) Put the track-lock return tube (28), the track-lock control tube (29) and the track-lock return tube (30) through the latch beam.
(b) Put the grommet (31) on the track-lock return tube (28), the track-lock control tube (29) and the track-lock return tube (30).
(c) Attach the track-lock return tube (28), the track-lock control tube (29) and the track-lock return tube (30) to the latch beam with the grommet (31).
(d) Remove the COVER - PROTECTION from the track-lock return tube (28), the track-lock control tube (29) and the track-lock return tube (30).
(e) Apply thin layer of lubricant (Material No.PU6-0003) to the threads of the track-lock return tube (28), the track-lock control tube (29) and the track-lock return-tube (30) fittings.
(f) Connect the track-lock return tube (28), track-lock control tube (29) and track-lock return tube (30) to the track locking unit.
1 Do not torque the tube fittings at this time.
(3) Installation of the track-lock return tube (21), track-lock control tube (22) and track-lock return tube (23):
(a) Put the track-lock return tube (21), track-lock control tube (22) and track-lock return tube (23) through the outboard aft bulkhead of the torque box.
(b) Put the six clamps on the track-lock return tube (21), track-lock control tube (22) and track-lock return tube (23).
(c) Mix the
NOTE: You can use thinner (Material No.PU4-0008) as an alternative to thinner (Material No.PU4-0005) .

NOTE: Do not torque the bolts (25) at this time.

(i) Remove the CAP - PROTECTION from the track-lock return tube (21), track-lock control tube (22) and track-lock return tube (23).
(j) Apply thin layer of lubricant (Material No.PU6-0003) to the threads of the track-lock return tube (21), track lock control tube (22) and track-lock return-tube (23) fittings.
(k) Connect the track-lock return tube (28) to the track-lock return tube (21).
NOTE: Do not torque the track-lock return tube (28) fitting at this time.
(l) Connect the track-lock control tube (22) to the track-lock control tube (29). NOTE: Do not torque the track-lock return tube (28) fitting at this time.
(m) Connect the track-lock return tube (23) to the track-lock return tube (30). NOTE: Do not torque the track-lock control tube (22) fitting at this time.
(n) Connect the track-lock return tube (21) and the track-lock control tube (22) to the track lock valve. NOTE: Do not torque the track-lock return tube (21) and the track-lock control-tube (22) fittings at this time.
(4) Installation of the track-lock return tube (17). (a) Wet install the bolts (18) with the

(c) Attach the track-lock return tube (17) and the clamp (20) to the harness support electrical-bracket. Use the bolt (18) and the washer (19).
NOTE: Do not torque the bolt (18) at this time.

(f) Apply a thin layer of lubricant (Material No.PU6-0003) to the threads of the track-lock return-tube (17) fitting.
(g) Connect the track-lock return tube (23) to the track-lock return tube (17).
NOTE: Do not torque the track-lock return tube (23) fitting at this time.
(h) Connect the track-lock return tube (17) to the locking actuator. NOTE: Do not torque the track-lock return tube (17) fitting at this time.
(5) Installation of the track-lock valve supply-tube (16). (a) Apply a thin layer of lubricant (Material No.PU6-0003) to the threads of the track-lock-valve supply-tube (16) fittings.
(b) Connect the track-lock valve supply-tube (16) to the locking actuator and the track lock valve.
NOTE: Do not torque the track-lock-valve supply-tube (16) fittings at this time.
(6) Installation of the stow tube (11) and the return tube (12). (a) Put the ten clamps (15) on the stow tube (11) and the return tube (12).
(b) Attach the stow tube (11), the return tube (12) and the ten clamps (15) to the torque box gussets. Use the five bolts (13) and the five washers (14).
NOTE: Do not torque the bolts (13) at this time.
(c) Remove the CAP - PROTECTION from the stow tube (11), return tube (12), locking actuator and feedback locking actuator. (d) Apply thin layer of lubricant (Material No.PU6-0003) to the threads of the stow tube (11) and the return tube (12) fittings.
(e) Connect the stow tube (11) and the return tube (12) to the feedback locking actuator and the locking actuator.
NOTE: Do not torque the stow tube (11) and the return tube (12) fittings at this time.
(7) Adjust the tubes (11), (12), (16), (17), (21), (22), (23), (28), (29) and (30) to keep the preload to a minimum. (a) Make sure that there are no kinks in the tubes (11), (12), (16), (17), (21), (22), (23), (28), (29) and (30).
(8) Tighten the tube fittings as follows:
(a) TORQUE the track-lock return-tube (30) fitting on the track locking unit
to between 190 and 170 lbf.in (2.15 and 1.92 m.daN )
. (b) TORQUE the track-lock control-tube (29) fitting on the track locking unit
to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
. (c) TORQUE the track-lock return-tube (28) fittings on the track locking unit and the track-lock return tube (21) to between 190 and 170 lbf.in (2.15 and 1.92 m.daN )
. (d) TORQUE the track-lock return tube (23) fittings on the track-lock return tube (30) and on the track-lock return tube (17) to between 190 and 170 lbf.in (2.15 and 1.92 m.daN )
. (e) TORQUE the track-lock control tube (22) fittings on the track-lock control tube (29) and the track lock valve to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
. (f) TORQUE the track-lock return-tube (21) fittings on the track lock valve
to between 190 and 170 lbf.in (2.15 and 1.92 m.daN )
. (g) TORQUE the track-lock return-tube (17) fitting on the locking actuator
to between 190 and 170 lbf.in (2.15 and 1.92 m.daN )
. (h) TORQUE the track-lock-valve supply-tube (16) fittings on the track lock valve and the locking actuator to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
. (i) TORQUE the return tube (12) fittings on the locking actuator and the feedback locking actuator to between 190 and 170 lbf.in (2.15 and 1.92 m.daN )
. (j) TORQUE the stow tube (11) fittings on the locking actuator and the feedback locking actuator to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
. (9) Tighten the bolts as follows:
(a) TORQUE the bolts (13), (18) and (25) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN )
. (10) Install the track lock cover on the latch beam (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-38-400-801).
(11) Install the return hose (5), deploy hose (6) and stow hose (7):
(a) Remove the plugs (8), (9) and (10) from the deploy hose (6), return hose (5) and stow hose (7).
(b) Remove the CAP - PROTECTION from the pylon interface, feedback locking actuator, return hose (5), deploy hose (6) and stow hose (7).
(c) Install the deploy hose (6), return hose (5) and stow hose (7) on the pylon.
NOTE: Do not torque the deploy hose (6), return hose (5) and stow hose (7) fittings at this time.
(d) Install the deploy hose (6), return hose (5) and stow hose (7) on the feedback locking actuator. NOTE: Do not torque the deploy hose (6), return hose (5) and stow hose (7) fittings at this time.
(e) Adjust the deploy hose (6), return hose (5) and stow hose (7) to keep the pre-load to a minimum. (f) Tighten the deploy hose (6), return hose (5) and stow hose (7) fittings as follows:
1 TORQUE the return hose (5) fitting at the pylon interface to between 204 and 177 lbf.in (2.31 and 2.00 m.daN )
. 2 TORQUE the deploy hose (6) fitting at the pylon interface to between 735 and 664 lbf.in (8.31 and 7.50 m.daN )
. 3 TORQUE the stow hose (7) fitting at the pylon interface to between 283 and 257 lbf.in (3.20 and 2.90 m.daN )
. 4 TORQUE the return hose (5) fitting at the feedback locking actuator to between 190 and 170 lbf.in (2.15 and 1.92 m.daN )
. 5 TORQUE the deploy hose (6) fitting at the feedback locking actuator to between 945 and 855 lbf.in (10.68 and 9.66 m.daN )
. 6 TORQUE the stow hose (7) fitting at the feedback locking actuator to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
. (g) Put the line block (3) on the return hose (5), deploy hose (6) and stow hose (7).
(h) Put the line block (3) with the return hose (5), deploy hose (6) and stow hose (7) in the line block frame (32). Make sure that the line block (3) fits in the line block frame (32) and is in the correct position.
(i) Close the line block frame (32) and attach it to the torque box disconnect panel with the two bolts (1), the two washers (2) and the two nuts (4).
(j) TORQUE the nuts (4) to between 27 and 24 lbf.in (0.31 and 0.27 m.daN )
