H. Installation of the Test Equipment
CAUTION: REMOVE THE PROTECTIVE COVERS FROM THE PROBES BEFORE YOU DO THE TEST.
CAUTION: WHEN YOU SEAL THE DRAIN HOLE IN THE PITOT PROBE, DO NOT SEAL THE HOLE DIRECTLY WITH THE COLORED ADHESIVE TAPE. ALWAYS PUT A PIECE OF PLASTIC ON THE HOLE FIRST AND USE THE COLORED ADHESIVE TAPE TO ATTACH THE PLASTIC. IF YOU SEAL THE DRAIN HOLE DIRECTLY WITH THE ADHESIVE TAPE, THERE IS A RISK THAT SOME OF THE ADHESIVE WILL STAY ON THE HOLE AND COLLECT PARTICLES. THIS CAN SUBSEQUENTLY CAUSE BLOCKAGE OF THE HOLE AND THUS INCORRECT OPERATION OF THE PROBE.
   (1) Remove the slip covers from the static and pitot probes.
   (2) Connect the GENERATOR - GROUND PRESSURE MINI. 100 MB to the static and pitot probes as follows:
     (a) Use the 98D34003500000 ADAPTER COVER-STATIC PORT to connect the GENERATOR - GROUND PRESSURE MINI. 100 MB to static probes 7DA1 and 8DA1.
     (b) Use the 36122 ADAPTOR-CHARGING,PITOT PROBE or the 98F34103001000 ADAPTER-PITOT PROBE for Thales probes or the P75701-4C ADAPTER-PITOT PROBE for Rosemount (Aerospace)/Goodrich probes to connect the GENERATOR - GROUND PRESSURE MINI. 100 MB to pitot probe 9DA1.
     (c) Use the TAPE - ADHESIVE to seal the drain holes of pitot probe 9DA1.

WARNING: IF THE GROUND DOOR OPERATING-HANDLE MOVES AWAY FROM THE OPEN POSITION BUT THE RELATED DOOR(S) DOES(DO) NOT CLOSE, MOVE THE HANDLE BACK TO THE OPEN POSITION IMMEDIATELY. IF YOU DO NOT KEEP THE HANDLE IN THE OPEN POSITION ALL THE TIME, THE RELATED DOOR(S) CAN CLOSE SUDDENLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE LANDING GEAR DOORS ARE CLEAR.
CAUTION: TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO INSTRUMENTS, OBEY THESE PRECAUTIONS WHEN YOU DO THE TEST:
  • THE PRESSURES SET MUST NOT BE MORE THAN 1050 hPa (31 in Hg) OR LESS THAN 115 hPa (3.39 in Hg)
  • CHANGES IN STATIC AND TOTAL PRESSURES MUST NOT BE MORE THAN 6000 FEET/MINUTE
  • DO NOT SUDDENLY OPEN LINES TO AMBIENT AIR WHILE THE PRESSURE GENERATOR IS CONNECTED.
CAUTION: THE TOTAL PRESSURE IN THE PITOT SYSTEM MUST NEVER BE LESS THAN THE STATIC PRESSURE. THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE PITOT AND THE STATIC PRESSURE CIRCUITS MUST NEVER BE MORE THAN 368 hPa (10.86 in Hg).
H. Operational Check to Ensure Safety Valve Closes at 260 knots
ACTION
RESULT
1.On panel 20VU:
  • Set the IR1 selector switch to ATT.
The Air Data Inertial Reference Unit 1 (ADIRU 1) energizes.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE CONTROLS AGREE WITH THE POSITION OF THE ITEMS THEY OPERATE BEFORE YOU PRESSURIZE A HYDRAULIC SYSTEM. UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF HYDRAULICALLY OPERATED ITEMS CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
2.Use the GROUND POWER CART-HYDRAULIC to pressurize the Green hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-001).

3.Move the ground door-operating handle to the OPEN position.
The MLG door opens.
4.Set the GROUND PRESSURE GENERATOR to give a signal of between 268 and 270 knots.
In the cockpit, on the PFD, airspeed value is between 268 and 270 knots.
5.Try to move the applicable ground door-operating handle to the CLOSE position.
The door will not close.
NOTE: The ground door-operating handle can move because of remaining hydraulic pressure, but the door will not close. If the ground door-operating handle moves, set it back to the OPEN position.
6.Slowly decrease the signal from the GROUND PRESSURE GENERATOR to between 254 and 256 knots.
Safety valve 49GA energizes (valve OPEN).

In the cockpit, on the PFD, airspeed value is between 254 and 256 knots.
7.Make sure that the travel range of the applicable MLG door is clear.

8.Put the applicable ground door-operating handle to the CLOSE position.
The MLG door closes.
9.Set the GROUND PRESSURE GENERATOR to OFF.
