Inspection after Abnormal Movement of the Cargo Door

TASK 05-51-30-200-801-A
Inspection after Abnormal Movement of the Cargo Door

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGE OF THE CARGO DOOR IS CLEAR BEFORE YOU UNLOCK IT. STAY AFT OF (LEFT OF) THE DOOR WHEN YOU UNLOCK IT BECAUSE IT CAN OPEN SUDDENLY AND CAUSE INJURY.
CAUTION: IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOU OPEN THE CARGO COMPARTMENT DOOR, RECORD ON THE WORK CARD ON THE DOOR, THE DATE AND TIME WHEN YOU OPENED IT. IF THE CARGO COMPARTMENT DOOR STAYS OPEN FOR 12 HOURS OR MORE, YOU MUST BLEED THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM RELATED TO IT. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE PRECAUTIONS, THE DOOR CAN CLOSE SUDDENLY WHEN YOU SET THE DOOR TO "CLOSE". THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE DOOR AND TO THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE.
1. Reason for the Job
You must do this inspection if there is an abnormal movement of the cargo door or after:
  • Towing when the cargo door is open and not in the vertical position
  • Taxiing when the cargo door is open
  • Collision lifting or pushing of a cargo loader or jet way.
You can operate forward and aft cargo doors in the wind up to 40 kts, and 50 kts if the aircraft nose is in the wind direction. Forward and aft cargo doors can stay open in the wind up to 65 kts. If the wind speed is more than these limits, do the inspection that follows before the subsequent flight.
If the aircraft is parked in high wind of more than 80 kts, you must also do the inspections given in AMM 05-51-42.
