   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the closed FWD cargo compartment door (referred to as cargo door).
   (2) Open the access panel 134AR to get access to the selector of the control panel.
   (3) If necessary, remove access panel 825AR and/or 825ER (Ref. AMM TASK 52-31-14-000-801).
4. Procedure
Subtask 52-31-00-720-056-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Test of the Latching Mechanism
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGE OF THE CARGO DOOR IS CLEAR BEFORE YOU UNLOCK IT. STAY AFT OF (LEFT OF) THE DOOR WHEN YOU UNLOCK IT BECAUSE IT CAN OPEN SUDDENLY AND CAUSE INJURY.
   (1) Make sure that the cargo door is correctly closed and locked (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
   (2) If necessary, adjust the latching mechanism (Ref. AMM TASK 52-31-11-820-002).
   (3) Do this test:
NOTE: The rigging pins 98D52307525040 and 98D52307525042 are part of the 98D52307525000 TOOL-ADJUSTMENT,CARGO DOORS.
ACTION
RESULT
1.On the cargo door frame FR27A:
On the cargo door frame FR27A:
  • Install the rigging pin 98D52307525042 into the rigging hole of the door frame and the shaft lever bolt.
  • The rigging pin must engage in the rigging hole of the shaft lever bolt if the upper dead center is correctly adjusted.
2.On each frame of the cargo door:
On each frame of the cargo door:
  • Install the rigging pin 98D52307525040 into the rigging hole of each door frame and the bellcrank bolt.
  • The rigging pin must engage in the rigging hole of the bellcrank bolt if the lower dead center is correctly adjusted.
  • Make sure that the rigging pins are removed.
  • Each latching unit is free and movable.

  • Protect the contact surface with the TAPE - ADHESIVE.
  • Pull the door handle away in the UNLOCKED direction and measure the force necessary with the GAGE - PUSH-PULL.
  • The locking cams of the locking shaft release the latching hooks and the vent door opens.
  • The force is maximum 22 daN (49.46 lbf).
  • Turn the latching handle up to the fully UNLOCKED position and measure the force necessary with the GAGE - PUSH-PULL.
  • The latching hooks disengage from the latch fittings and the cargo door moves in the open direction.
  • The force is maximum 22 daN (49.46 lbf).
4.On the control panel:
On the cargo door:
  • Set the selector to the CLOSE position and hold it.
  • The cargo door actuators retract and close the cargo door.

  • Push the door handle in the recess of the door structure and measure the force necessary with the GAGE - PUSH-PULL.
  • The vent door closes,

   (2) If necessary, adjust the latching mechanism (Ref. AMM TASK 52-31-11-820-002).
   (3) Do this test:
NOTE: The rigging pins 98D52307525040 and 98D52307525042 are part of the 98D52307525000 TOOL-ADJUSTMENT,CARGO DOORS.

1.On the frame FR27A of the cargo door:
On the frame FR27A of the cargo door:
  • Install the rigging pin 98D52307525042 into the rigging hole of the door frame and the shaft lever bolt.
  • The rigging pin must engage in the rigging hole of the shaft lever bolt if the upper dead center is correctly adjusted.
2.On each frame of the cargo door:

  • Install the rigging pin 98D52307525040 into the rigging hole of each door frame and the bellcrank bolt.
  • The rigging pin must engage in the rigging hole of the bellcrank bolt if the lower dead center is correctly adjusted.
  • Make sure that the rigging pins are removed.

B. Clearance Check of the Latching Hooks
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGE OF THE CARGO DOOR IS CLEAR BEFORE YOU UNLOCK IT. STAY AFT OF (LEFT OF) THE DOOR WHEN YOU UNLOCK IT BECAUSE IT CAN OPEN SUDDENLY AND CAUSE INJURY.
   (1) Open the forward cargo-compartment door until it is in the vertical position (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
   (2) Set the selector of the control panel to the CLOSED position and hold it during the clearance check.
NOTE: This is necessary to keep the forward cargo-compartment door in the fully closed position when it is not latched.
   (3) If necessary, adjust the position of the released latching hooks (Ref. AMM TASK 52-31-11-820-002).
   (4) Do the test that follows:

1.Between the cargo door and the cargo door sill:
  • Measure clearances C and D between the rear of the latching hooks and the door sill structure.
  • Measure clearance E between the latching-hooks opening line and the roller of the latch fittings.
Between the cargo door and the cargo door sill:
  • Clearances C and D are a minimum of 2.0 mm (0.0787 in.).
  • Clearance E is a minimum of 3.0 mm (0.1181 in.).
   (5) Make sure that the forward cargo-compartment door is correctly closed and locked when the test is completed (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).

C. Functional Test of Proximity Switches 28WV, 30WV and 5MJ
CAUTION: BEFORE YOU INSTALL/REMOVE THE GSE-TOOL, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE APPLICABLE GSE INSTRUCTION MANUAL. WHILE YOU OPERATE THIS TOOL, CAREFULLY OBEY THEM. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS, DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
   (1) Make sure that the cargo door is correctly closed and locked (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
   (2) Do this test:

1.On proximity switch 28WV:
  • Use the GAGE - FEELER to measure clearance J2 between the target on the door handle and the proximity switch on the door structure.
On proximity switch 28WV:
  • Clearance J2 must be between 1.5 mm (0.0591 in.) and 2.0 mm (0.0787 in.).
2.On proximity switch 30WV:
  • Use the 98D52308002000 CURVED SHIM to measure clearance J1 between the target on the target lever (part of the switch mechanism) and the proximity switch on the cargo door sill.
On proximity switch 30WV:
  • Clearance J1 must be between 1.0 mm (0.0394 in.) and 1.8 mm (0.0709 in.).
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGE OF THE CARGO DOOR IS CLEAR BEFORE YOU UNLOCK IT. STAY AFT OF (LEFT OF) THE DOOR WHEN YOU UNLOCK IT BECAUSE IT CAN OPEN SUDDENLY AND CAUSE INJURY.
3.On the cargo door:
On the cargo door:
  • Pull the door handle away from the recess and move it fully up to the UNLOCKED position.
  • The cargo door is in the unlocked condition.
4.On proximity switch 5MJ:
  • Use the GAGE - FEELER to measure clearance J3 between the target on the latching shaft and the proximity switch on the structure.
On proximity switch 5MJ:
  • Clearance J3 must be between 1.5 mm (0.0591 in.) and 2.0 mm (0.0787 in.).
   (3) If clearance J2 is out of tolerance, adjust proximity switch 28WV (Ref. AMM TASK 52-71-00-820-004).
   (4) If clearance J1 is out of tolerance, adjust proximity switch 30WV (Ref. AMM TASK 52-71-00-820-003).
   (5) If clearance J3 is out of tolerance, adjust proximity switch 5MJ (Ref. AMM TASK 52-35-13-400-002).
   (6) Make sure that the cargo door is correctly closed and locked when the test is completed (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).

C. Functional Test of Proximity Switches 28WV, 30WV and 5MJ

   (1) Make sure that the cargo door is correctly closed and locked (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
   (2) Do this test:

  • Clearance J1 must be between 1.0 mm (0.0394 in.) and 1.8 mm (0.0709 in.).

  • Pull the door handle away from the recess and move it fully up to the UNLOCKED position.
  • The cargo door is in the unlocked condition.

  • Use the GAGE - FEELER to measure clearance J3 between the target on the latching shaft and the proximity switch on the structure.
On proximity switch 5MJ:
  • Clearance J3 must be between 1.5 mm (0.0591 in.) and 2.0 mm (0.0787 in.).
   (3) If clearance J2 is out of tolerance, adjust proximity switch 28WV (Ref. AMM TASK 52-71-00-820-004).
   (4) If clearance J1 is out of tolerance, adjust proximity switch 30WV (Ref. AMM TASK 52-71-00-820-003).
   (5) If clearance J3 is out of tolerance, adjust proximity switch 5MJ (Ref. AMM TASK 52-35-13-400-002).
   (6) Make sure that the cargo door is correctly closed and locked when the test is completed (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).

D. Test of the Drift Pin Mechanism
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGE OF THE CARGO DOOR IS CLEAR BEFORE YOU UNLOCK IT. STAY AFT OF (LEFT OF) THE DOOR WHEN YOU UNLOCK IT BECAUSE IT CAN OPEN SUDDENLY AND CAUSE INJURY.
   (1) Open the forward cargo-compartment door until the drift pins are retracted from the door frame (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
   (2) Remove the forward cargo-compartment door-lining (Ref. AMM TASK 52-31-13-000-001).
   (3) Push the interlock lever of the interlock mechanism outboard to release the blockage from the locking mechanism.
   (4) Move the door handle fully down to the LOCKED position and push it in the recess of the door structure.
   (5) If necessary, adjust the position of the extended and retracted drift pins (Ref. AMM TASK 52-31-11-820-002).
   (6) Do the test that follows:
ACTION
RESULT
1.On the cargo door:
  • Measure distance F between the end of the extended drift pins and the edge members of the cargo door.
  • Pull the door handle away from the door structure and to the fully UNLOCKED position.
  • Examine the position of the retracted drift pins.
On the cargo door:
  • Distance F is between 34.7 mm (1.3661 in.) and 37.7 mm (1.4843 in.).
  • The drift pins retract and the latching hooks are in the released position.
  • The retracted drift pins are behind the skin edge of the cargo door.
   (7) Install the forward cargo-compartment door-lining when the test is completed (Ref. AMM TASK 52-31-13-400-001).
   (8) Make sure that the forward cargo-compartment door is correctly closed and locked (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).

D. Test of the Drift Pin Mechanism
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGE OF THE CARGO DOOR IS CLEAR BEFORE YOU UNLOCK IT. STAY AFT OF (LEFT OF) THE DOOR WHEN YOU UNLOCK IT BECAUSE IT CAN OPEN SUDDENLY AND CAUSE INJURY.
   (1) Open the forward cargo-compartment door until the drift pins are retracted from the door frame (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
   (2) Remove the forward cargo-compartment door-lining (Ref. AMM TASK 52-31-13-000-001).
   (3) Push the interlock lever of the interlock mechanism outboard to release the blockage from the locking mechanism.
   (4) Move the door handle fully down to the LOCKED position and push it in the recess of the door structure.
   (5) If necessary, adjust the position of the extended and retracted drift pins (Ref. AMM TASK 52-31-11-820-002).
   (6) Do the test that follows:

RESULT
1.On the cargo door:
  • Measure distance F between the end of the extended drift pins and the edge members of the cargo door.
  • Pull the door handle away from the door structure and to the fully UNLOCKED position.
  • Examine the position of the retracted drift pins.
On the cargo door:
  • Distance F is between 32.5 mm (1.2795 in.) and 35.5 mm (1.3976 in.).
  • The drift pins retract and the latching hooks are in the released position.
  • The retracted drift pins are behind the skin edge of the cargo door.
   (7) Install the forward cargo-compartment door-lining when the test is completed (Ref. AMM TASK 52-31-13-400-001).
   (8) Make sure that the forward cargo-compartment door is correctly closed and locked (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
5. Close-up
Subtask 52-31-00-860-054-A
A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Depressurize the Yellow hydraulic-system reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (2) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).

B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Make sure that access panel 134AR is closed.
   (3) If removed, install access panel 825AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-31-14-400-801).
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).
