(2) Measure clearance J1 between the target (31) and the applicable proximity switch (23) with the 98D52308002000 CURVED SHIM.
(3) Make sure that clearance J1 is between 1.0 mm (0.0394 in.) and 1.8 mm (0.0709 in.).
(4) If clearance J1 is out of the tolerance, adjust the length of the link assembly (40) as follows:
(a) Open the applicable cargo compartment door to the gravity position (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
(b) Remove and discard the lockwire from the locking devices (36) and the nuts (37).
(c) Loosen the nuts (37).
(d) Turn the connection rod (38) counterclockwise to remove it from the fork ends (35) and (39).
(e) Remove and discard the locking devices (36) from the connection rod (38).
(f) Install the new AIPC 52-31-82-42-420 LOCKING DEVICES (36) or the new AIPC 52-32-84-42-430 LOCKING DEVICES (36) on the connection rod (38).
(g) Put the connection rod (38) between the fork ends (35) and (39) and turn it clockwise to assemble the link assembly (40).
(h) Examine the link assembly (40) to make sure that the connection rod (38) is correctly installed the fork ends (35) and (39).
(i) Turn the connection rod (38) clockwise to its minimum length.
(k) Close the applicable cargo compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(l) Manually turn the connection rod (38) counterclockwise until the target (31) touches the 98D52308001000 GAUGE PROX SENSOR (41).
(m) TORQUE the nuts (37) to between 3.6 and 2.8 m.N (31.858 and 24.779 lbf.in )

(n) Open the applicable cargo compartment door to the gravity position (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
(p) Close the applicable cargo compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(q) Half-open and fully close the cargo compartment door five times to prevent a mechanism play.
(r) Measure clearance J1 between the applicable proximity switch (23) and the target (31) with the 98D52308002000 CURVED SHIM.
(s) Make sure that clearance J1 is between 1.0 mm (0.0394 in.) and 1.8 mm (0.0709 in.).
(t) Safety the nuts (37) and the locking devices (36) with the14QFB1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy - .

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) Open the applicable cargo compartment door 825 or 826 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
(3) Set CARGO COMPT LIGHT switch 6LU or 8LU to the ON position.
(4) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position on the applicable cargo-compartment door operation-panel to tell persons not to use the cargo loading system.
Subtask 52-71-00-010-056-A (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) Open the applicable cargo compartment door 825 or 826 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
(3) Set CARGO COMPT LIGHT switch 6LU or 8LU to the ON position.
(4) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position on the applicable cargo-compartment door operation-panel to tell persons not to use the cargo loading system.
B. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position at cargo compartment door 825 or 826.
(2) Remove the applicable access panel:
4. Procedure(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position at cargo compartment door 825 or 826.
(2) Remove the applicable access panel:
- Access panel 825AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-31-14-000-801)
- Access panel 826AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-32-14-000-801).

A. Adjustment of the Proximity Switch
(2) Measure clearance J1 between the target (31) and the applicable proximity switch (23) with the 98D52308002000 CURVED SHIM.
(3) Make sure that clearance J1 is between 1.0 mm (0.0394 in.) and 1.8 mm (0.0709 in.).
(4) If clearance J1 is out of tolerance, adjust the length of the link assembly (40) as follows:
(a) Open the applicable cargo compartment door to the gravity position (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
(b) Release the tabs of the tab washers (36) from the jam nuts (37).
(c) Loosen the jam nuts (37) to disassemble the link assembly (40).
(d) Turn the connection rod (38) counterclockwise to remove it from the fork ends (35) and (39).
(e) Remove and discard the tab washers (36) from the connection rod (38).
(f) Install the new AIPC 52-31-21-42-200 TAB WASHERS (36) or the new AIPC 52-31-82-42-200 TAB WASHERS (36) on the connection rod (38).
(g) Put the connection rod (38) between the fork ends (35) and (39) and turn it clockwise to assemble the link assembly (40).
(h) Examine the link assembly (40) to make sure that the connection rod (38) is correctly installed in the fork ends (35) and (39).
(i) Turn the connection rod (38) clockwise to its minimum length.
(k) Close the applicable cargo compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(l) Manually turn the connection rod (38) counterclockwise until the target (31) touches the 98D52308001000 GAUGE PROX SENSOR (41).
(m) Tightening of the jam nuts:
(n) Open the applicable cargo compartment door to the gravity position (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
(p) Close the applicable cargo compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(q) Half-open and fully close the cargo compartment door five times to prevent a mechanism play.
(r) Measure clearance J1 between the target (31) and the applicable proximity switch (23) with the 98D52308002000 CURVED SHIM.
(s) Make sure that clearance J1 is between 1.0 mm (0.0394 in.) and 1.8 mm (0.0709 in.).
(t) Safety the jam nuts (37) with the tabs of the tab washers (36).

BEFORE YOU INSTALL/REMOVE THE GSE-TOOL, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE APPLICABLE GSE INSTRUCTION MANUAL. WHILE YOU OPERATE THIS TOOL, CAREFULLY OBEY THEM. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS, DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(1) Make sure that the applicable cargo compartment door is correctly closed and locked (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002). (2) Measure clearance J1 between the target (31) and the applicable proximity switch (23) with the 98D52308002000 CURVED SHIM.
(3) Make sure that clearance J1 is between 1.0 mm (0.0394 in.) and 1.8 mm (0.0709 in.).
(4) If clearance J1 is out of tolerance, adjust the length of the link assembly (40) as follows:
(a) Open the applicable cargo compartment door to the gravity position (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
(b) Release the tabs of the tab washers (36) from the jam nuts (37).
(c) Loosen the jam nuts (37) to disassemble the link assembly (40).
(d) Turn the connection rod (38) counterclockwise to remove it from the fork ends (35) and (39).
(e) Remove and discard the tab washers (36) from the connection rod (38).
(f) Install the new AIPC 52-31-21-42-200 TAB WASHERS (36) or the new AIPC 52-31-82-42-200 TAB WASHERS (36) on the connection rod (38).
(g) Put the connection rod (38) between the fork ends (35) and (39) and turn it clockwise to assemble the link assembly (40).
(h) Examine the link assembly (40) to make sure that the connection rod (38) is correctly installed in the fork ends (35) and (39).
(i) Turn the connection rod (38) clockwise to its minimum length.
NOTE: When the cargo compartment door is closed, the target (31) does not touch the proximity switch (23).
(j) Install the 98D52308001000 GAUGE PROX SENSOR (41) on the applicable proximity switch (23). (k) Close the applicable cargo compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(l) Manually turn the connection rod (38) counterclockwise until the target (31) touches the 98D52308001000 GAUGE PROX SENSOR (41).
(m) Tightening of the jam nuts:
CAUTION:
DO NOT TIGHTEN THE JAM NUTS TOO MUCH. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, FAILURE OF THE RIGGING PROCEDURE CAN OCCUR.
1 Tighten the jam nuts (37). (n) Open the applicable cargo compartment door to the gravity position (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
NOTE: The cargo compartment door opens in the vertical position because of the force of gravity. The hydraulic power is not necessary.
(o) Remove the 98D52308001000 GAUGE PROX SENSOR (41) from the applicable proximity switch (23). (p) Close the applicable cargo compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(q) Half-open and fully close the cargo compartment door five times to prevent a mechanism play.
(r) Measure clearance J1 between the target (31) and the applicable proximity switch (23) with the 98D52308002000 CURVED SHIM.
(s) Make sure that clearance J1 is between 1.0 mm (0.0394 in.) and 1.8 mm (0.0709 in.).
(t) Safety the jam nuts (37) with the tabs of the tab washers (36).

(b) Release the tabs of the tab washers (36) from the jam nuts (37).
(c) Loosen the jam nuts (37) to disassemble the link assembly (40).
(d) Turn the connection rod (38) counterclockwise to remove it from the fork ends (35) and (39).
(e) Remove and discard the tab washers (36) from the connection rod (38).
(f) Install the new AIPC 52-31-21-42-200 TAB WASHERS (36) or the new AIPC 52-31-82-42-200 TAB WASHERS (36) on the connection rod (38).
(g) Put the connection rod (38) between the fork ends (35) and (39) and turn it clockwise to assemble the link assembly (40).
(h) Examine the link assembly (40) to make sure that the connection rod (38) is correctly installed in the fork ends (35) and (39).
(i) Turn the connection rod (38) clockwise to its minimum length.
(k) Close the aft cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(l) Manually turn the connection rod (38) counterclockwise until the target (31) touches the 98D52308001000 GAUGE PROX SENSOR (48).
(m) Tightening of the jam nuts:
(n) Open the aft cargo-compartment door to the gravity position (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
(p) Close the aft cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(q) Half-open and fully close the aft cargo-compartment door five times to prevent a mechanism play.
(r) Measure clearance J1 between the target (31) and the proximity switch (23) with the 98D52308002000 CURVED SHIM.
(s) Make sure that clearance J1 is between 1.0 mm (0.0394 in.) and 1.8 mm (0.0709 in.).
(t) Safety the jam nuts (37) with the tabs of the tab washers (36).
(5) For the forward cargo-compartment door, if clearance J1 is out of tolerance, adjust the length of the link assembly (46) as follows:
(a) Open the forward cargo-compartment door to the gravity position (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
(b) Remove and discard the lockwire from the locking devices (43) and the nuts (42).
(c) Loosen the nuts (42) to disassemble the link assembly (46).
(d) Turn the connection rod (44) counterclockwise to remove it from the fork ends (41) and (45).
(e) Remove and discard the locking devices (43) from the connection rod (44).
(f) Install the new AIPC 52-31-82-42-420 LOCKING DEVICES (43) on the connection rod (44).
(g) Put the connection rod (44) between the fork ends (41) and (45) and turn it clockwise to assemble the link assembly (46).
(h) Examine the link assembly (46) to make sure that the connection rod (44) is correctly installed in the fork ends (41) and (45).
(i) Turn the connection rod (38) clockwise to its minimum length.
(k) Close the forward cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(l) Manually turn the connection rod (44) counterclockwise until the target (47) touches the 98D52308001000 GAUGE PROX SENSOR (48).
(m) TORQUE the nuts (42) to between 3.6 and 2.8 m.N (31.8584 and 24.7788 lbf.in )

(n) Open the forward cargo-compartment door to the gravity position (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
(p) Close the forward cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(q) Half-open and fully close the forward cargo-compartment door five times to prevent a mechanism play.
(r) Measure clearance J1 between the proximity switch (23) and the target (47) with the 98D52308002000 CURVED SHIM.
(s) Make sure that clearance J1 is between 1.0 mm (0.0394 in.) and 1.8 mm (0.0709 in.).
(t) Safety the nuts (42) and the locking devices (43) with the14QFC1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES - .

USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

(l) Manually turn the connection rod (38) counterclockwise until the target (31) touches the 98D52308001000 GAUGE PROX SENSOR (48).
(m) Tightening of the jam nuts:

(h) Examine the link assembly (46) to make sure that the connection rod (44) is correctly installed in the fork ends (41) and (45).

NOTE: When the forward cargo-compartment is closed, the target (47) does not touch the proximity switch (23).
(j) Install the 98D52308001000 GAUGE PROX SENSOR (48) on the proximity switch (23). (k) Close the forward cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(l) Manually turn the connection rod (44) counterclockwise until the target (47) touches the 98D52308001000 GAUGE PROX SENSOR (48).
(m) TORQUE the nuts (42) to between 3.6 and 2.8 m.N (31.8584 and 24.7788 lbf.in )

(1) Make sure that the applicable cargo compartment door is correctly closed and locked (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002). (2) Measure clearance J1 between the target (31) and the applicable proximity switch (23) with the 98D52308002000 CURVED SHIM.
(3) Make sure that clearance J1 is between 1.0 mm (0.0394 in.) and 1.8 mm (0.0709 in.).
(4) If clearance J1 is out of the tolerance, adjust the length of the link assembly (40) as follows:
(a) Open the applicable cargo compartment door to the gravity position (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
(b) Remove and discard the lockwire from the locking devices (36) and the nuts (37).
(c) Loosen the nuts (37).
(d) Turn the connection rod (38) counterclockwise to remove it from the fork ends (35) and (39).
(e) Remove and discard the locking devices (36) from the connection rod (38).
(f) Install the new AIPC 52-31-82-42-420 LOCKING DEVICES (36) or the new AIPC 52-32-84-42-430 LOCKING DEVICES (36) on the connection rod (38).
(g) Put the connection rod (38) between the fork ends (35) and (39) and turn it clockwise to assemble the link assembly (40).
(h) Examine the link assembly (40) to make sure that the connection rod (38) is correctly installed the fork ends (35) and (39).
(i) Turn the connection rod (38) clockwise to its minimum length.
NOTE: When the cargo compartment door is closed, the target (31) does not touch the proximity switch (23).
(j) Install the 98D52308001000 GAUGE PROX SENSOR (41) on the applicable proximity switch (23). (k) Close the applicable cargo compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(l) Manually turn the connection rod (38) counterclockwise until the target (31) touches the 98D52308001000 GAUGE PROX SENSOR (41).
(m) TORQUE the nuts (37) to between 3.6 and 2.8 m.N (31.858 and 24.779 lbf.in )
.(n) Open the applicable cargo compartment door to the gravity position (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
NOTE: The cargo compartment door opens in the vertical position because of the force of gravity. The hydraulic power is not necessary.
(o) Remove the 98D52308001000 GAUGE PROX SENSOR (41) from the applicable proximity switch (23). (p) Close the applicable cargo compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(q) Half-open and fully close the cargo compartment door five times to prevent a mechanism play.
(r) Measure clearance J1 between the applicable proximity switch (23) and the target (31) with the 98D52308002000 CURVED SHIM.
(s) Make sure that clearance J1 is between 1.0 mm (0.0394 in.) and 1.8 mm (0.0709 in.).
(t) Safety the nuts (37) and the locking devices (36) with the

(1) Do an operational test of the door warning system related to the applicable cargo compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-71-00-710-001).
