A. Cleaning Procedure
(1) Make sure that the area for inspection is clean. If the inspection area is not clean:
(a) Clean the area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(2) If there is a Temporary Protection System (TPS) layer applied that prevents the inspection of the area, remove the TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
Subtask 52-31-11-210-063-B (1) Make sure that the area for inspection is clean.
B. Detailed Inspection of Locking Hooks and Fork Fittings of Forward Cargo Compartment Door at all Frames, between Longeron 4 and Longeron 5 (6 Places)
(1) Examine the inner surface of each latching hook for wear, chafe marks and cracks:
(a) If you find marks, measure the depth of the damage:
(c) If the latching hook has marks with a depth of more than 0.3 mm (0.0118 in.), replace it (Ref. AMM TASK 52-31-21-000-013).
(d) If you find a crack, replace the latching hook (Ref. AMM TASK 52-31-21-000-013).
(2) Examine the fork fittings of each door frame and the adjacent skin area for scratches, marks, cracks and corrosion:
(a) If you find a scratch or a mark:
Subtask 52-31-11-916-054-A (1) Examine the inner surface of each latching hook for wear, chafe marks and cracks:
(a) If you find marks, measure the depth of the damage:
- Marks up to a depth of 0.1 mm (0.0039 in.) are permitted.
- find the limits of the damaged area SRM 523000
- Remove the damage when it is less than the limit SRM 517300
- If the scratch or mark is larger than the limit, repair the fork fitting or replace it (Ref. SRM 52-30-00).
- find the limits of the corroded area SRM 523000
- Remove the damage when it is less than the limit SRM 517400
- If the corroded area is larger than the limit, repair the fork fitting or replace it SRM 523000.
C. Application of Temporary Protection System (TPS)
(1) Apply Adhesive Film Tape-Masking - - (Material No.05RDA1) on the items adjacent to the area: the seals, bellows, door mechanisms, proximity switches and fittings.
(2) If there is a TPS layer, do a check of the condition of the TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
(4) If, before the inspection:
5. Close-up(1) Apply Adhesive Film Tape-Masking - - (Material No.05RDA1) on the items adjacent to the area: the seals, bellows, door mechanisms, proximity switches and fittings.
(2) If there is a TPS layer, do a check of the condition of the TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
NOTE: Airbus recommends that you always apply a new layer of TPS. This is to make sure that the TPS layer continues to give satisfactory corrosion protection. If you think that the TPS layer is in the correct condition, you can apply a new layer (as a spray) on the layer.
(3) If the TPS layer is damaged, remove the TPS layer and apply a new layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound_Water Displacing Soft Film - (Material No.12ABC1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Hard Film - (Material No.12ABB1) . (4) If, before the inspection:
- there was removal of the TPS layer
or - the inspection area was cleaned with high pressure water, steam, solvents, and/or cleaning agents.
