B. Cleaning of the Outer Sheath
Subtask 73-21-50-350-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
(1) Clean the outer sheath, in and around the area you will repair with lint-free cloth (Material No.CP2674) wet with isopropyl alcohol (Material No.CP1041) . C. Do These Steps to Repair the Harness
(1) Examine the area you will repair for penetration into harness Cu-Ni.
(2) Do these steps to apply the fiber-glass tape.
(a) Use the fiberglass adhesive tape (Material No.CP2208) or 3M-363 tape (Material No.CP2628) .
(b) Apply the tape around the braid as follows:
1 Start at Dimension A and wind the tape one-half width before the cut and stop one-half width after the cut area to Dimension B.
2 Apply the tape in the same direction with one-half width overlay at each turn.
3 Cut the tape with an SCISSORS.
(c) Do these steps to install the .015 steel corrosion-resistant lockwire, MS20995C15 around the outer sheath.
1 Make sure that the length of wire is sufficient to do an overlap on the tape and outer sheath at each end of the repair.
2 Hold the wire along the length of the worn area beginning from the left.
3 Start at the opposite end and apply the wire tightly and equally over the outer sheath to cover the repair area.
4 Make sure that the dimensions are correct.
5 Keep the short end of the loop and make sure that you can see it, when approximately two-thirds of the wound wire length is completed. Continue to wind the wire to complete the remaining distance shown as 1/3 X.
6 Put wire A into the loop after the final turn.
7 Cut the end B of the wire until its length is approximately 1/3 of the repair length.
8 Pull the loop end C until the wire at A goes under the wound wire and the end B goes out of view below the final turn.
9 Cut the wire end C flush.
