Removal of J8 Harness
1. Reason for the Job
This harness connects the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) to the ECU cooling valve, the N2 speed sensor, the Hydromechanical Unit (HMU) and the fuel return valve.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.

A. Removal of the J8 Harness
PRE SB CFM 72-519
(1) Disconnect the electrical harness from the fuel return valve, the HMU, the N2 speed sensor, the ECU cooling valve and the ECU.
POST SB CFM 72-519
(2) Disconnect the electrical harness from the fuel return valve, the HMU, the N2 speed sensor and the ECU.

(3) Remove the 2 bolts (82) and nuts (84) which attach the cover plate to the brackets at the 5 o'clock location on the flanges G and E (detail A). Pull the flexible clamp assembly from the brackets and pull out the J8 harness from the flexible clamp (81). Re-install the clamp assembly.

(4) Remove the 2 bolts (82) and nuts (84) which attach the cover plate (85) to the brackets at the 5 o'clock location on the flange G and E (detail A), with clamp (83) of J15 harness. Pull out the J8 harness from the flexible clamp (81). Re-install the clamp assembly.

(5) Remove the bolt (87) and nuts (88) which attach the J7 and J8 harness clamps to the same bracket as above (detail B).
(6) Remove the bolt (90) which attaches the J7 and J8 harness clamps to the same bracket as above (detail C).

(8) Remove the 2 bolts (91) which attach the J7 and J8 harnesses to the bracket at the 5.30 o'clock location between the flanges G and E (detail D).
(9) Remove the bolt (92) which attaches the J7 and J8 harnesses to the left leg of the same bracket (detail E).
(10) Remove the J8 and J7 harnesses from the clips on bracket attached to flange G on the left side of the 6 o'clock location (detail F). Then remove the J7 harness from the J8 harness clip.
(11) Remove the bolt (121) which attaches the J8 harness to the left AGB bracket (detail G).
(12) Remove the bolt (122) which attaches the J8 harness to the left bracket of the AGB/TGB interface (detail H).
(13) Remove the J8 and J7 harnesses from the clips on 3 brackets at the 6:30 o'clock, 7 o'clock and 7:30 o'clock locations on flange E, then remove the J8 harness from the J7 harness clips (details I, J and K).
(14) Remove the bolt (111) which attaches the J7 and J8 harnesses to the bracket at the 8 o'clock location on flange D (detail L).

(15) Remove the bolt (95) which attaches the J7 and J8 harnesses to the bracket at the 5:30 o'clock location on flange G (detail M).

(16) Remove the nut (96) and bolt (95) with attach the J7 and J8 harnesses to the bracket at the 5:30 o'clock location on flange G (detail M) with bleed bias tubes.

(17) Remove the J8 harness from the clip on the bracket at the 4:30 o'clock location on flange E (detail N), under the ECU.

(18) Remove the bolt (98) which attaches the J7 and J8 harnesses to the bracket at the 4 o'clock location on flange E (detail O).

(19) Remove the bolt (117) which attaches the J8 harness to the bracket at the 4 o'clock location on flange E (detail O).

(20) Remove the bolt (101) which attaches the J7 and J8 harnesses to the same bracket at the 3:30 o'clock location (detail P).
(21) Remove the bolt (102) which attaches the J7 and J8 harnesses to the bracket on the right side of 3 o'clock location on flange E (detail Q).

(24) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(25) Remove all the clamps from the harness.

(9) Remove the bolt (92) which attaches the J7 and J8 harnesses to the left leg of the same bracket (detail E).
(10) Remove the J8 and J7 harnesses from the clips on bracket attached to flange G on the left side of the 6 o'clock location (detail F). Then remove the J7 harness from the J8 harness clip.
(11) Remove the bolt (121) which attaches the J8 harness to the left AGB bracket (detail G).
(12) Remove the bolt (122) which attaches the J8 harness to the left bracket of the AGB/TGB interface (detail H).
(13) Remove the J8 and J7 harnesses from the clips on 3 brackets at the 6:30 o'clock, 7 o'clock and 7:30 o'clock locations on flange E, then remove the J8 harness from the J7 harness clips (details I, J and K).
(14) Remove the bolt (111) which attaches the J7 and J8 harnesses to the bracket at the 8 o'clock location on flange D (detail L).
