Installation of the MLG Free-Fall Extension Cables
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE FLIGHT CONTROL SAFETY-LOCKS AND THE WARNING NOTICES ARE IN POSITION.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
(2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
(3) On panel 400VU:
(5) Make sure that a WEDGE - NON METALLIC is on each side of the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle to lock the handle in position.

B. Get Access

(1) Make sure that the MLG doors are open for access (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(2) Make sure that the safety devices are installed on each MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-002).
(3) Make sure that avionics compartment doors 822 and 824 are open for access (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-002).
(4) Make sure that forward cargo-compartment door 825 is open (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
(5) Make sure that the access panels that follow are removed:
For location of the access panels, (Ref. AMM D/O 06-41-53-00).
(a) In zones 131 and 132:
1 Make sure that the applicable ceiling panels in the forward cargo compartment between FR25 and FR34 are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 25-54-12-000-002).
2 Make sure that the forward cargo-compartment partition at FR34 is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 25-54-12-000-001).
(b) In zone 212:
1 Make sure that the applicable cockpit floor panels between FR8 and FR12 are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 53-12-11-000-001).
(c) In zones 222 and 232:
1 Make sure that the applicable cabin floor panels between FR12 and FR24 are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 53-12-12-000-001).
(d) In zones 241 and 242:
1 Make sure that the applicable cabin floor panels between FR35 and FR47 are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 53-32-12-000-002).

- Make sure that the 98A27801001000 RIGGING PIN is in the Pin 1 position.
- Make sure that the 98DNSA20208150 RIGGING PIN is in the Pin 2 position.
- Make sure that the 98DNSA20208150 RIGGING PIN is in the Pin 2 position.
- Make sure that the 98DNSA20208060 RIGGING PIN is in the Pin 3 position.
C. Flight Configuration Precautions
(1) If you did not open the LGCIU circuit breakers, make sure that the electrical circuits are de-energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
(2) If you opened the LGCIU circuit breakers, make sure that the flight configuration precautions were obeyed (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001).
Subtask 32-33-16-865-054-A (1) If you did not open the LGCIU circuit breakers, make sure that the electrical circuits are de-energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
(2) If you opened the LGCIU circuit breakers, make sure that the flight configuration precautions were obeyed (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001).

(1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
Subtask 32-33-16-420-052-A (1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
B. Installation of the MLG Free-Fall Extension Cables (39) and/or (40)
(2) Attach the cable(s) (39) and/or (40) to the pulley (83).
(3) When necessary (for RH cables only) install the fairlead(s) (82).
(4) Release the cable(s) (37) and/or (38) from the structure.
(5) Connect each cable as necessary to its related cable with the turnbuckle(s) (41).
(6) Temporarily attach the locking clips (42).
(7) Install these items together:
(9) At the cable pulley assembly on FR 41, install these items together:

Subtask 32-33-16-420-053-A WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(1) Put the cable(s) (39) and/or (40) around the pulleys and through the structure. (2) Attach the cable(s) (39) and/or (40) to the pulley (83).
(3) When necessary (for RH cables only) install the fairlead(s) (82).
(4) Release the cable(s) (37) and/or (38) from the structure.
(5) Connect each cable as necessary to its related cable with the turnbuckle(s) (41).
(6) Temporarily attach the locking clips (42).
(7) Install these items together:
- The tubes (75) and the washers (76)
- The tubes (78) and the washers (79).
(9) At the cable pulley assembly on FR 41, install these items together:
- The cable guard assembly (85)
- The pins (84), the washers (86) and the nuts (87).
C. Installation of the MLG Free-Fall Extension Cables (37) and/or (38)
(1) Clean the pressure-seal-flanges (58) and (60) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to remove the sealant and paint.
(2) Put the sleeve (63) and the pressure-seal-flanges (58) and (60) on the applicable cable correctly.
(3) Put the cable(s) (37) and/or (38) around the pulleys and through the structure.
(4) Attach the cable(s) (37) and/or (38) to the pulley (65).
(5) Release the cable(s) (39) and/or (40) from the structure.
(6) Connect each cable as necessary to its related cable with the turnbuckle(s) (41).
(7) Temporarily attach the locking clips (42).
Subtask 32-33-16-420-054-A (1) Clean the pressure-seal-flanges (58) and (60) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to remove the sealant and paint.
(2) Put the sleeve (63) and the pressure-seal-flanges (58) and (60) on the applicable cable correctly.
(3) Put the cable(s) (37) and/or (38) around the pulleys and through the structure.
(4) Attach the cable(s) (37) and/or (38) to the pulley (65).
(5) Release the cable(s) (39) and/or (40) from the structure.
(6) Connect each cable as necessary to its related cable with the turnbuckle(s) (41).
(7) Temporarily attach the locking clips (42).
D. Installation of the Cable Pressure Seals
(2) Assemble the cable pressure seal(s) with these items:
(4) Safety the bolts (62) with14QFB1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy - .
(5) Install these items at the cable pulley brackets:
(7) Safety the tubes (57) with the new AIPC 32-33-03-03-170 COTTER-PINS (55) or the new AIPC 32-33-83-03-280 COTTER-PINS (55).
(8) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the heads of the bolts (62) and the outer edges of the pressure-seal-flanges (58) and (60).
(9) When the sealant is dry, apply Coating_- Flexible Structure (Material No.04QAB2) to the pressure-seal-flanges (58) and (60).
Subtask 32-33-16-420-055-A WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(1) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the pressure-seal-flanges (58) and (60) and the bolts (62). (2) Assemble the cable pressure seal(s) with these items:
- The swivel cable guides (59) (between the flanges)
- The sleeve (63) and the retaining ring (64)
- The washers (61) and the bolts (62).
(4) Safety the bolts (62) with
(5) Install these items at the cable pulley brackets:
- The tubes (52) and the washers (53)
- The tubes (57) and the washers (56)
- The guide bolt (68), the washer (67) and the nut (66).
(7) Safety the tubes (57) with the new AIPC 32-33-03-03-170 COTTER-PINS (55) or the new AIPC 32-33-83-03-280 COTTER-PINS (55).
(8) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the heads of the bolts (62) and the outer edges of the pressure-seal-flanges (58) and (60).
(9) When the sealant is dry, apply Coating_- Flexible Structure (Material No.04QAB2) to the pressure-seal-flanges (58) and (60).
E. Installation of the MLG Free-Fall Extension Cables (25) and/or (27)

(1) Put the cable(s) (25) and/or (27) in the structure.
(2) Attach the cable(s) (25) and/or (27) to the pulley (26).
(3) Release the cable(s) (13) and/or (15) from the structure.
(4) Connect each cable as necessary to its related cable with the turnbuckle(s) (23).
(5) Temporarily attach the locking clips (24).
(6) Install the cable-guide-fairleads (21) and the locking-devices (22) for the applicable cable(s).
(7) For the cable (27), install these items at the bracket (2) on the FR 12:
(9) Safety the nut (5) with a new AIPC 32-33-01-10-050 COTTER-PIN (4).
(10) Install these items together:

(6) Install the cable-guide-fairleads (21) and the locking-devices (22) for the applicable cable(s).
(7) For the cable (27), install these items at the bracket (2) on the FR 12:
- The spacer (3)
- The bolt (1)
- The washer (6)
- The nut (5).
(9) Safety the nut (5) with a new AIPC 32-33-01-10-050 COTTER-PIN (4).
(10) Install these items together:
- The cable guard(s) (17)
- The spacers (19)
- The bolts (18)
- The nuts (20).
F. Installation of the MLG Free-Fall Extension Cables (13) and/or (15)
Free-Fall Extension Cables - MLG (FR7 to FR41) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
Free-Fall Extension Cables - MLG (FR 7 to FR 41) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(1) Put the cable(s) (13) and/or (15) in the structure.
(2) Connect the cable (13) to the top of the pulley (16).
(3) Connect the cable (15) to the bottom of the pulley (16).
(4) Safety the cable(s) (13) and /or (15) with a new AIPC 32-33-03-04-030 COTTER PIN (14) or a new AIPC 32-33-83-05-010 COTTER PIN (14).
(5) Release the cable(s) (25) and/or (27) from the structure.
(6) Connect each cable as necessary to its related cable with the turnbuckle(s) (23).
(7) Temporarily attach the locking clips (24).
(8) Install the cable guide fairleads (21) and the locking-devices (22) for the applicable cable(s).
(9) Install these items together:
(11) Safety the tube (10) with a new AIPC 32-33-03-30-030 COTTER-PIN (11).

(3) Connect the cable (15) to the bottom of the pulley (16).
(4) Safety the cable(s) (13) and /or (15) with a new AIPC 32-33-03-04-030 COTTER PIN (14) or a new AIPC 32-33-83-05-010 COTTER PIN (14).
(5) Release the cable(s) (25) and/or (27) from the structure.
(6) Connect each cable as necessary to its related cable with the turnbuckle(s) (23).
(7) Temporarily attach the locking clips (24).
(8) Install the cable guide fairleads (21) and the locking-devices (22) for the applicable cable(s).
(9) Install these items together:
- The tubes (7) and the washers (9)
- The tube (10) and the washer (12).
(11) Safety the tube (10) with a new AIPC 32-33-03-30-030 COTTER-PIN (11).
G. Adjust the Tension of the Cables
(1) Adjust the tension of the free-fall extension system cables that have been loosened or replaced (Ref. AMM TASK 32-33-00-820-003).

H. Cable Tension Check
(1) Do a cable tension check on the free-fall extension system cables that were not loosened or replaced (Ref. AMM TASK 32-33-00-200-001).

(2) On the panel 110VU, remove the WEDGE - NON METALLIC from each side of the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle.
(3) Close the MLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
Subtask 32-33-16-865-055-A (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) On the panel 110VU, remove the WEDGE - NON METALLIC from each side of the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle.

(a) In zones 241 and 242:
1 Install the applicable cabin floor panels between FR35 and FR47 (Ref. AMM TASK 53-32-12-000-002).
(b) In zones 222 and 232:
1 Install the applicable cabin floor panels between FR12 and FR24 (Ref. AMM TASK 53-12-12-000-001).
(c) In zone 212:
1 Install the applicable cockpit floor panels between FR8 and FR12 (Ref. AMM TASK 53-12-11-000-001).
(d) In zones 131 and 132:
1 Install the forward cargo-compartment partition at FR34 (Ref. AMM TASK 25-54-12-000-001).
2 Install the applicable ceiling panels in the forward cargo compartment between FR25 and FR34 (Ref. AMM TASK 25-54-12-000-002).
(3) Close forward cargo-compartment door 825 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(4) Close avionics compartment doors 822 and 824 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-410-002).
