Installation of the Aileron Servo Control
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE FLIGHT CONTROL SAFETY-LOCKS AND THE WARNING NOTICES ARE IN POSITION.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:
1. Reason for the Job- DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
- DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
- MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
(2) In the cockpit, make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is(are) in position to tell persons:
(a) Not to pressurize the Green and Blue Hydraulic systems
(b) Not to operate the flight controls.
(3) Obey the hydraulic safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-910-002).
Subtask 27-14-51-860-050-A (1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
(2) In the cockpit, make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is(are) in position to tell persons:
(a) Not to pressurize the Green and Blue Hydraulic systems
(b) Not to operate the flight controls.
(3) Obey the hydraulic safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-910-002).
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(2) Make sure that the Blue and the Green Hydraulic systems are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-003), (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001).
(3) Make sure that the applicable reservoirs are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
(4) Put on a safety harness:
(5) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) is in position below the applicable zone 575(675).
(6) Make sure that the applicable access panels are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-000-007) (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-000-005) and (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-000-011):

(7) Make sure the 98D27104005000 AILERON COLLAR is installed on the aileron servo control that you did not remove during the removal procedure.
Subtask 27-14-51-865-051-A WARNING:
OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
(1) Make sure that the isolation coupling of the PTU is disconnected (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001). (2) Make sure that the Blue and the Green Hydraulic systems are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-003), (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001).
(3) Make sure that the applicable reservoirs are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
(4) Put on a safety harness:
WARNING:
BEFORE YOU START WORK, YOU MUST PUT ON A SAFETY HARNESS AND ATTACH IT TO THE ACCESS PLATFORM. WITHOUT A SAFETY HARNESS, YOU CAN FALL. THIS CAN KILL YOU OR CAUSE YOU INJURY.
(a) Put on and attach a 98L12003001000 HARNESS,SAFETY before you start work in the work area. (5) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) is in position below the applicable zone 575(675).
(6) Make sure that the applicable access panels are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-000-007) (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-000-005) and (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-000-011):

(a) Use Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area of:
(c) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(d) Make sure that the hydraulic line end-fittings are serviceable.
(e) Lubricate the subsequent parts with Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) :
(a) Use Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area of:
(c) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.

(d) Make sure that the hydraulic line end-fittings are serviceable.
(e) Lubricate the subsequent parts with Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) :
- The pins (23) and (27)
- The flanged bushes (8) and (10)
- The structural bushes (33).
(a) Use Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area of:
- The pins (62) and (66)
- The flanged bushes (48) and (50)
- The interfaces of the aileron and rear-spar jack brackets.
(c) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(d) Make sure that the hydraulic line end-fittings are serviceable.
(e) Lubricate the subsequent parts with Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) :
- The pins (62) and (66)
- The flanged bushes (48) and (50)
- The structural bushes (71).
B. Installation of the Aileron Servo Control
(a) Install the flanged bush (8) into the aileron jack bracket.
(b) Install the flanged bush (10) into the rear-spar jack bracket.
(c) Apply a layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) to the eye-ends of the piston rods on the rounded sides only.
(d) Make sure that you do not get Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) on the servocontrol spherical bearings.
(e) Install the aileron servo control (25):
1 Hold the aileron servo control (25) in a horizontal position.
2 Align the body eye-end with the bushes in the flanges of the rear-spar jack bracket.
3 Install the pin (23).
4 Remove the 98D27104005000 AILERON COLLAR from the aileron servo control that is not removed.
5 Manually move the aileron to the down position. Do this until the piston-rod eye-end and the bushes of the aileron jack bracket are aligned.
6 Install the pin (27).
(f) Manually put and hold the aileron in the fully up position for easier access to the installed aileron servo control.
(g) Install the 98D27104005000 AILERON COLLAR on the aileron servo control that is not removed.
(h) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) to the threads of the pins (23) and (27).
(a) Install the flanged bush (48) into the aileron jack bracket.
(b) Install the flanged bush (50) into the rear-spar jack bracket.
(c) Apply a layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) to the eye-ends of the piston rods on the rounded sides only.
(d) Make sure that you do not get Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) on the servocontrol spherical bearings.
(e) Install the the aileron servo control (64):
1 Hold the aileron servo control (64) in a horizontal position.
2 Align the body eye-end with the bushes in the flanges of the rear-spar jack bracket.
3 Install the pin (62).
4 Remove the 98D27104005000 AILERON COLLAR from the aileron servo control that is not removed.
5 Manually move the aileron to the down position. Do this until the piston-rod eye-end and the bushes of the aileron jack bracket are aligned.
6 Install the pin (66).
(f) Manually put and hold the aileron in the fully up position for easier access to the installed aileron servo control.
(g) Install the 98D27104005000 AILERON COLLAR on the aileron servo control that is not removed.
(h) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) to the threads of the pins (62) and (66).
Subtask 27-14-51-420-058-F NOTE: The weight of the aileron servo control is 7.4 kg (16.3 lb).
(1) FOR [33CE1] (SERVO CTL-L AILERON, INBD G), [33CE2] (SERVO CTL-R AILERON, INBD G)(a) Install the flanged bush (8) into the aileron jack bracket.
(b) Install the flanged bush (10) into the rear-spar jack bracket.
(c) Apply a layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) to the eye-ends of the piston rods on the rounded sides only.
(d) Make sure that you do not get Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) on the servocontrol spherical bearings.
(e) Install the aileron servo control (25):
1 Hold the aileron servo control (25) in a horizontal position.
2 Align the body eye-end with the bushes in the flanges of the rear-spar jack bracket.
3 Install the pin (23).
4 Remove the 98D27104005000 AILERON COLLAR from the aileron servo control that is not removed.
5 Manually move the aileron to the down position. Do this until the piston-rod eye-end and the bushes of the aileron jack bracket are aligned.
6 Install the pin (27).
(f) Manually put and hold the aileron in the fully up position for easier access to the installed aileron servo control.
(g) Install the 98D27104005000 AILERON COLLAR on the aileron servo control that is not removed.
(h) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) to the threads of the pins (23) and (27).
NOTE: For the lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
(2) FOR [33CE3] (SERVO CTL-L AILERON, OUTBD B), [33CE4] (SERVO CTL-R AILERON, OUTBD B)(a) Install the flanged bush (48) into the aileron jack bracket.
(b) Install the flanged bush (50) into the rear-spar jack bracket.
(c) Apply a layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) to the eye-ends of the piston rods on the rounded sides only.
(d) Make sure that you do not get Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) on the servocontrol spherical bearings.
(e) Install the the aileron servo control (64):
1 Hold the aileron servo control (64) in a horizontal position.
2 Align the body eye-end with the bushes in the flanges of the rear-spar jack bracket.
3 Install the pin (62).
4 Remove the 98D27104005000 AILERON COLLAR from the aileron servo control that is not removed.
5 Manually move the aileron to the down position. Do this until the piston-rod eye-end and the bushes of the aileron jack bracket are aligned.
6 Install the pin (66).
(f) Manually put and hold the aileron in the fully up position for easier access to the installed aileron servo control.
(g) Install the 98D27104005000 AILERON COLLAR on the aileron servo control that is not removed.
(h) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) to the threads of the pins (62) and (66).
NOTE: For the lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
C. Complete the Installation of the Aileron Servo Control
(1) FOR [33CE1] (SERVO CTL-L AILERON, INBD G), [33CE2] (SERVO CTL-R AILERON, INBD G)
(a) Install the washers (7) and (18) and the nuts (6) and (17).
(b) TORQUE the nuts (6) and (17) to between 8.0 and 7.5 m.daN (59.00 and 55.31 lbf.ft )
.
(c) Install the locking caps (5) and (16) on the pins (27) and (23).
(d) Safety the items that follow:
1 Put the locking plate (22) on the pin (23).
2 Align the bolt hole in the locking plate (22) with the holes in the flanges of the rear-spar jack bracket.
3 Install the bolt (21), the washer (20) and the nut (19).
(f) At the aileron jack bracket:
1 Put the locking plate (26) on the pin (27).
2 Align the bolt hole in the locking plate (26) with the hole in the flange of the aileron jack-bracket.
3 Install the bolt (1), the washer (2) and the nut (3).
(h) Install the pressure pipe (24) and the return pipe (14) as follows:
1 Apply Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the joints of the pressure pipe (24) and the return pipe (14).
2 Install the pressure pipe (24) and the return pipe (14).

4 Identify the tightened union nuts with a red line
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-23-22-910-001).
(i) At the pipe brackets, near to the inboard and outboard sides of the aileron servo control (25):
1 Assemble the clamp blocks (31) and the tubes (30).
2 Install the washers (29), the bolts (28) and the nuts (32).

(q) Apply a layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) to:
(a) Install the washers (47) and (58) and the nuts (46) and (57).
(b) TORQUE the nuts (46) and (57) to between 8.0 and 7.5 m.daN (59.00 and 55.31 lbf.ft )

(c) Install the locking caps (45) and (56) on the pins (66) and (62).
(d) Safety the items that follow:
1 Put the locking plate (61) on the pin (62).
2 Align and attach the locking plate (61) to the stud (59).
3 Install the nut (60).
(f) At the aileron jack bracket:
1 Put the locking plate (65) on the pin (66).
2 Align the bolt hole in the locking plate (65) with the hole in the flange of the aileron jack bracket.
3 Install the bolt (41), the washer (42) and the nut (43).
(h) Install the pressure pipe (63) and the return pipe (54) as follows:
1 Apply Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the joints of the pressure pipe (63) and the return pipe (54).
2 Install the pressure pipe (63) and the return pipe (54).

4 Identify the tightened union nuts with a red line
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-23-22-910-001).
(i) At the pipe brackets, near to the inboard and outboard sides of the aileron servo control (64):
1 Assemble the clamp blocks (69).
2 Install the washers (68), the bolts (67) and the nuts (70).
(j) Make sure that the clearance between the pipe and the structure is equal or more than 6 mm (0.24 in.).
(l) TORQUE the bolts (52) to between 0.20 and 0.16 m.daN (17.70 and 14.16 lbf.in )

(a) Install the washers (7) and (18) and the nuts (6) and (17).
(b) TORQUE the nuts (6) and (17) to between 8.0 and 7.5 m.daN (59.00 and 55.31 lbf.ft )
. (c) Install the locking caps (5) and (16) on the pins (27) and (23).
(d) Safety the items that follow:
- The locking cap (5) with the new AIPC 27-14-05-20-080 COTTER PIN (4) or the new AIPC 27-14-85-21-050 COTTER PIN (4).
- The locking cap (16) with the new AIPC 27-14-05-20-080 COTTER PIN (15) or the new AIPC 27-14-85-21-050 COTTER PIN (15).
1 Put the locking plate (22) on the pin (23).
2 Align the bolt hole in the locking plate (22) with the holes in the flanges of the rear-spar jack bracket.
3 Install the bolt (21), the washer (20) and the nut (19).
(f) At the aileron jack bracket:
1 Put the locking plate (26) on the pin (27).
2 Align the bolt hole in the locking plate (26) with the hole in the flange of the aileron jack-bracket.
3 Install the bolt (1), the washer (2) and the nut (3).
WARNING:
OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
(g) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.(h) Install the pressure pipe (24) and the return pipe (14) as follows:
1 Apply Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the joints of the pressure pipe (24) and the return pipe (14).
2 Install the pressure pipe (24) and the return pipe (14).
CAUTION:
USE A SECOND WRENCH TO APPLY COUNTERTORQUE TO THE UNION WHEN YOU DISCONNECT/CONNECT HYDRAULIC LINES ON UNIONS. IF YOU DO NOT USE THE SECOND WRENCH, THERE IS A RISK THAT YOU WILL LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE UNION TOO MUCH.
3 TORQUE the unions of the pressure pipe (24) and the return pipe (14) to between 1.7 and 1.5 m.daN (12.54 and 11.06 lbf.ft )
. 4 Identify the tightened union nuts with a red line
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-23-22-910-001).
(i) At the pipe brackets, near to the inboard and outboard sides of the aileron servo control (25):
1 Assemble the clamp blocks (31) and the tubes (30).
2 Install the washers (29), the bolts (28) and the nuts (32).
(j) Attach the clamp blocks (9) to the aileron servo control (25) with the bolts (12) and the washers (11).
(k) TORQUE the bolts (12) to between 0.20 and 0.16 m.daN (17.70 and 14.16 lbf.in )
. WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(l) Safety the bolts (12) with (m) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
(n) Clean the electrical connector (13) with Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(o) Connect the electrical connector (13) to the aileron servo control (25).
(p) Apply a continuous layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ACB1) to the electrical connector (13).
(q) Apply a layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) to:
- The bolt (1), washer (2) and nut (3)
- The cotter pin (4), locking cap (5), nut (6) and washer (7)
- The washers (11) and the bolts (12)
- The cotter pin (15), locking cap (16), nut (17) and washer (18)
- The nut (19), washer (20) and bolt (21)
- The head of each pin (23) and (27)
- The bolts (28), washers (29) and nuts (32).
(a) Install the washers (47) and (58) and the nuts (46) and (57).
(b) TORQUE the nuts (46) and (57) to between 8.0 and 7.5 m.daN (59.00 and 55.31 lbf.ft )
. (c) Install the locking caps (45) and (56) on the pins (66) and (62).
(d) Safety the items that follow:
- The locking cap (45) with the new AIPC 27-14-05-21-090 COTTER PIN (44) or AIPC 27-14-85-21-050 COTTER PIN (44).
- The locking cap (56) with the new AIPC 27-14-05-21-090 COTTER PIN (55) or AIPC 27-14-85-21-050 COTTER PIN (55).
1 Put the locking plate (61) on the pin (62).
2 Align and attach the locking plate (61) to the stud (59).
3 Install the nut (60).
(f) At the aileron jack bracket:
1 Put the locking plate (65) on the pin (66).
2 Align the bolt hole in the locking plate (65) with the hole in the flange of the aileron jack bracket.
3 Install the bolt (41), the washer (42) and the nut (43).
WARNING:
OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
(g) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.(h) Install the pressure pipe (63) and the return pipe (54) as follows:
1 Apply Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the joints of the pressure pipe (63) and the return pipe (54).
2 Install the pressure pipe (63) and the return pipe (54).
CAUTION:

(i) At the pipe brackets, near to the inboard and outboard sides of the aileron servo control (64):
1 Assemble the clamp blocks (69).
2 Install the washers (68), the bolts (67) and the nuts (70).
(j) Make sure that the clearance between the pipe and the structure is equal or more than 6 mm (0.24 in.).
NOTE: It is necessary to measure the clearance in the condition where the movement decreases the distance to its smallest value.
(k) Attach the clamp blocks (49) to the aileron servo control (64) with the bolts (52) and the washers (51). (l) TORQUE the bolts (52) to between 0.20 and 0.16 m.daN (17.70 and 14.16 lbf.in )
. WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(m) Safety the bolts (52) with (n) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
(o) Clean the electrical connector (53) with Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(p) Connect the electrical connector (53) to the aileron servo control (64).
(q) Apply a continuous layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ACB1) to the electrical connector (53).
(r) Apply a layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) to:
- The bolt (41), washer (42) and nut (43)
- The cotter pin (44), locking cap (45), nut (46) and washer (47)
- The washers (51) and the bolts (52)
- The cotter pin (55), locking cap (56), nut (57) and washer (58)
- The stud (59) and the nut (60)
- The head of each pin (62) and (66)
- The bolts (67), washers (68) and nuts (70).
D. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration

MAKE SURE THAT THE CONTROLS AGREE WITH THE POSITION OF THE ITEMS THEY OPERATE BEFORE YOU PRESSURIZE A HYDRAULIC SYSTEM. UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF HYDRAULICALLY OPERATED ITEMS CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Remove the 98D27104005000 AILERON COLLAR from the aileron servo control that was not removed. (2) Remove the access platform(s).
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S) that prevents the pressurization of the Green and Blue Hydraulic systems.
(4) On the center pedestal, make sure that:
- The slat and flap control lever is in the 0 degree position.
- The speed-brake control lever is in the RET position.
(6) FOR [33CE1] (SERVO CTL-L AILERON, INBD G), [33CE2] (SERVO CTL-R AILERON, INBD G)
Pressurize the Green hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-863-001).
(7) FOR [33CE3] (SERVO CTL-L AILERON, OUTBD B), [33CE4] (SERVO CTL-R AILERON, OUTBD B)
Pressurize the Blue hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-003).
E. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

F. Test
(1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) Operate the ailerons:
(b) Make sure that the ailerons are correctly adjusted (Ref. AMM TASK 27-14-00-820-001).
(c) Do the operational test of the aileron and hydraulic actuation (Ref. AMM TASK 27-14-00-710-001).
(3) Put on a safety harness:
(4) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) in position below the applicable zone 575(675).
(5) Examine and make sure that there are no hydraulic leaks from:
(a) FOR [33CE1] (SERVO CTL-L AILERON, INBD G), [33CE2] (SERVO CTL-R AILERON, INBD G)
5. Close-up(1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) Operate the ailerons:

(5) Examine and make sure that there are no hydraulic leaks from:

- The aileron servo control (25)
- The pressure pipe (24)
- The return pipe (14).
