YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). D. Get Access
(1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

(2) Remove the left and right thrust reverser thermal insulation blankets (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-41-000-803) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-71-000-802).
4. Procedure(1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

(2) Remove the left and right thrust reverser thermal insulation blankets (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-41-000-803) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-71-000-802).
CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 78-32-00-210-102-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. GVI of the Thrust Reverser Latch 5 and the Surrounding Structure
(1) Do not discard a part until you are sure there are no repairs available. If you reject a part and no repair is available, contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems for disposition.
(2) Find the latch 5 on the left thrust reverser door.
(3) Examine the latch 5 for cracks, gouges, corrosion and broken parts. If you find damage, replace the latch (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-35-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-35-400-801) or contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems for disposition.
(4) Examine the bolt, washers and nut on the latch 5 for cracks, gouges, corrosion, loose or missing parts and other damage. If you find damage, replace the damaged or missing part (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-35-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-35-400-801).
(5) Examine the area of the structure 5.9 in. (150 mm) from the latch 5. Look for gouges, nicks, scratches and deterioration of protection. If you find damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual (SRM) for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems for disposition.
Subtask 78-32-00-210-103-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Do not discard a part until you are sure there are no repairs available. If you reject a part and no repair is available, contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems for disposition.
(2) Find the latch 5 on the left thrust reverser door.
(3) Examine the latch 5 for cracks, gouges, corrosion and broken parts. If you find damage, replace the latch (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-35-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-35-400-801) or contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems for disposition.
(4) Examine the bolt, washers and nut on the latch 5 for cracks, gouges, corrosion, loose or missing parts and other damage. If you find damage, replace the damaged or missing part (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-35-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-35-400-801).
(5) Examine the area of the structure 5.9 in. (150 mm) from the latch 5. Look for gouges, nicks, scratches and deterioration of protection. If you find damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual (SRM) for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems for disposition.
B. GVI of the Keeper of Latch 5 and the Surrounding Structure
(1) Do not discard a part until you are sure there are no repairs available. If you reject a part and no repair is available, contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems for disposition.
(2) Find the bolts and the hardware used as the keeper on the right thrust reverser door.
(3) Examine the bolt, washers and nut used as the keeper for the latch 5. Look for cracks, gouges, corrosion, loose or missing parts and other damage. If you find damage, replace the damaged or missing parts (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-75-000-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-75-400-802).
(4) Examine the area of the structure 5.9 in. (150 mm) from the latch keeper. Look for gouges, nicks, scratches and deterioration of protection. If you find damage, refer to the SRM for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems for disposition.
Subtask 78-32-00-210-104-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Do not discard a part until you are sure there are no repairs available. If you reject a part and no repair is available, contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems for disposition.

(4) Examine the area of the structure 5.9 in. (150 mm) from the latch keeper. Look for gouges, nicks, scratches and deterioration of protection. If you find damage, refer to the SRM for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems for disposition.
C. GVI of the Lower Bumper 2 and the Surrounding Structure on the Left Thrust Reverser Door
(1) Do not discard a part until you are sure there are no repairs available. If you reject a part and no repair is available, contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems for disposition.
(2) Find the bifurcation latch system latch assembly on the left thrust reverser door.
(3) Examine the bifurcation latch system latch handle assemblies. Look for cracks, fractures, gouges, corrosion and broken parts. If you find damage, replace the damaged part (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-43-000-805) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-43-400-805) or contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems for disposition.
(4) Examine the bifurcation latch system fitting and area of the structure 5.9 in. (150 mm) from the fitting. Look for gouges, nicks, scratches and deterioration of protection. If you find damage, refer to the SRM for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems for disposition.

D. GVI of the Lower Bumper 2 and the Surrounding Structure on the Right Thrust Reverser Door

(2) Find the bifurcation latch system latch pin on the right thrust reverser door.
(3) Examine the bifurcation latch system latch pin. Look for cracks, fractures, gouges, corrosion and broken parts. If you find damage, replace the damaged part (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-73-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-73-400-801) or contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems for disposition.
(4) Examine the bifurcation latch system fitting and area of the structure 5.9 in. (150 mm) from the fitting. Look for gouges, nicks, scratches and deterioration of protection. (3) Examine the bifurcation latch system latch pin. Look for cracks, fractures, gouges, corrosion and broken parts. If you find damage, replace the damaged part (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-73-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-73-400-801) or contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems for disposition.
(4) Examine the bifurcation latch system fitting and area of the structure 5.9 in. (150 mm) from the fitting. Look for gouges, nicks, scratches and deterioration of protection. (3) Close the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-802):
