A. Removal of the Thrust Reverser Latches
(1) Remove the No. 1A and No. 1B latches.
(a) Remove the nut (8) and washer (7) that holds the inner fail-safe pin (1) for the No. 1A latch (3) and No. 1B latch (4).
(b) Remove the inner fail-safe pin (1) from the outer fail-safe pin (2).
(c) Remove the nut (6) and pin retention cap (5) that holds the outer fail-safe pin (2).
(d) Remove the outer fail-safe pin (2), the No. 1A latch (3) and the No. 1B latch (4) from the latch beam.
(2) Remove the No. 2 latch.
(a) Remove the blanket adjacent to the No. 2 latch (9) if necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-41-000-803).
(b) Remove the bolt (10), washers (11) and (12), and nut (13) that attach the No. 2 latch (9) to the latch beam.
(c) Remove the No. 2 latch (9).
(3) Remove the No. 3 latch.
(a) Remove the track lock cover (15) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-38-000-801).
(b) Remove the bolt (16), washers (20) and (21), and nut (22) that attach the No. 3 latch (17) to the latch beam.
(c) Remove the No. 3 latch (17).
(4) Remove the No. 4 latch.
(a) Remove the four bolts (23) that attach the panel (24) to the latch beam. Remove the panel (24).
(b) Remove the bolt (25), washers (27) and (28), and nut (29) that attach the No. 4 latch (26) to the latch beam.
(c) Remove the No. 4 latch (26).
(5) Remove the No. 5 latch.
(a) Remove the thermal insulation blanket adjacent to the No. 5 latch (30) if necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-41-000-803).
(b) Remove the bolt (31), washers (32) and (33), and nut (34) that attach the No. 5 latch (30) to the core cowl.
(c) Remove the No. 5 latch (30).
(1) Remove the No. 1A and No. 1B latches.
(a) Remove the nut (8) and washer (7) that holds the inner fail-safe pin (1) for the No. 1A latch (3) and No. 1B latch (4).
(b) Remove the inner fail-safe pin (1) from the outer fail-safe pin (2).
(c) Remove the nut (6) and pin retention cap (5) that holds the outer fail-safe pin (2).
(d) Remove the outer fail-safe pin (2), the No. 1A latch (3) and the No. 1B latch (4) from the latch beam.
(2) Remove the No. 2 latch.
(a) Remove the blanket adjacent to the No. 2 latch (9) if necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-41-000-803).
(b) Remove the bolt (10), washers (11) and (12), and nut (13) that attach the No. 2 latch (9) to the latch beam.
(c) Remove the No. 2 latch (9).
(3) Remove the No. 3 latch.
(a) Remove the track lock cover (15) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-38-000-801).
(b) Remove the bolt (16), washers (20) and (21), and nut (22) that attach the No. 3 latch (17) to the latch beam.
(c) Remove the No. 3 latch (17).
(4) Remove the No. 4 latch.
(a) Remove the four bolts (23) that attach the panel (24) to the latch beam. Remove the panel (24).
(b) Remove the bolt (25), washers (27) and (28), and nut (29) that attach the No. 4 latch (26) to the latch beam.
(c) Remove the No. 4 latch (26).
(5) Remove the No. 5 latch.
(a) Remove the thermal insulation blanket adjacent to the No. 5 latch (30) if necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-41-000-803).
(b) Remove the bolt (31), washers (32) and (33), and nut (34) that attach the No. 5 latch (30) to the core cowl.
(c) Remove the No. 5 latch (30).
