   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

   (1) Open the left thrust reverser cowl-door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

4. Procedure
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
CAUTION: DO NOT LET THE THERMAL INSULATION BLANKETS BECOME WET. FLUIDS CAN GO INTO THE VENT HOLES OF THE BLANKETS AND MAKE THE INSULATION UNSATISFACTORY.
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE THE THERMAL INSULATION BLANKETS. IF YOU DO NOT HOLD THE BLANKETS CORRECTLY, THEY CAN FOLD BECAUSE OF THEIR OWN WEIGHT. DO NOT STEP ON OR PUT OBJECTS ON THE BLANKETS. DO NOT PUT THE BLANKETS ON SURFACES THAT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE. HOLD THE BLANKETS ON THEIR THICKEST PARTS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, DAMAGE TO THE BLANKETS CAN OCCUR.

A. Remove the AOC seal from the upper forward barrel blanket (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-42-000-802).

B. Removal of the covers on the vents on the upper forward barrel blanket (1)
   (1) Remove the two retainers (3) and, if installed, the washers that attach the zone vent deflector (5) on the zone vent tube on the left upper forward barrel blanket (1).
   (2) Remove the zone vent deflector (5).
   (3) Remove the two retainers (3) and, if installed, the washers that attach the zone vent deflector assembly (6) on the zone vent tube on the upper forward barrel blanket (1).
   (4) Remove the zone vent deflector assembly (6).
   (5) Remove the two retainers (3) and, if installed, the washers that attach the zone vent cover (7) on the zone vent tube on the left upper forward barrel blanket (1).
   (6) Remove the zone vent cover (7).

C. Removal of the upper forward barrel blanket (1) and upper bifurcation bumper blanket (2)
   (1) Remove the bolt (10), the bumper pad (9) and the 12 washers (8) from the left upper bifurcation bumper blanket (2).
NOTE: Keep the bolt (10), the bumper pad (9) and the 12 washers (8) for installation. Record the number and location of the washers (8).
   (2) Remove the four retainers (3) and, if installed, the washers that attach the upper bifurcation bumper blanket (2) to the upper forward barrel blanket (1).
   (3) Remove the upper bifurcation bumper blanket (2).
   (4) Remove the 21 retainers (3) and, if installed, the washers that attach the upper forward barrel blanket (1) to the inner fixed structure of the thrust reverser.
   (5) Move the edges of the upper forward barrel blanket (1) from under the retainers for the forward and top seals.
   (6) Remove the upper forward barrel blanket (1).

D. Removal of the upper aft barrel blanket (11)
   (1) Remove the bolt (10), the bumper pad (9), and 12 washers (8) from the upper aft barrel blanket (11).
NOTE: Keep the bolt (10), the bumper pad (9) and the 12 washers (8) for installation. Record the number and location of the washers (8).
   (2) Remove the seven retainers (12) and around the ACOC exhaust duct.
   (3) Remove the 29 retainers (3) and, if installed, the washers that attach the left upper aft barrel blanket (11) to the inner fixed structure of the thrust reverser.
   (4) Move the top edges of the upper aft barrel blanket (11) from under the retainers for pylon seal support.
   (5) Remove the upper aft barrel blanket (11).

E. Removal of the aft latch beam blanket (13)
   (1) Remove the six retainers (3) and, if installed, the washers that attach the aft latch beam blanket (13) to the inner fixed structure of the thrust reverser.
   (2) Move the edge of the left aft latch beam blanket (13) from under the retainer for the aft seal.
   (3) Remove the aft latch beam blanket (13).

F. Remove the Bifurcation Latch receiver (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-43-000-805).

   (1) Remove the two retainers (3) and, if installed, the washers that attach the zone vent cover (14) on the zone vent tube on the lower forward barrel blanket (17) or (23).
   (2) Remove the zone vent covers (14).
   (3) Remove the two retainers (3) and, if installed, the washers that attach the zone vent cover (15) on the zone vent tube on the lower forward barrel blanket (17) or (23).
   (4) Remove the zone vent covers (15).

   (5) Remove the two retainers (3), the two washers (22), and, if installed, the washers that attach the zone vent deflector assembly (16) on the zone vent tube on the lower forward barrel blanket (17).
   (6) Remove the zone vent deflector assembly (16).

   (1) Remove the bolt (10), the bumper pad (9) and the 12 washers (8) from the lower forward barrel blanket (17) or (23).
NOTE: Keep the bolt (10), the bumper pad (9) and the 12 washers (8) for installation. Record the number and location of the washers (8).

   (2) Removal of the lower forward barrel blanket (17):
     (a) Remove the 23 retainers (3) and, if installed, the washers that attach the lower forward barrel blanket (17) to the inner fixed structure of the thrust reverser.
     (b) Move the edge of the lower forward barrel blanket (17) from under the retainers for the forward retainers.
     (c) Remove the lower forward barrel blanket (17).

     (c) Remove the lower forward barrel blanket (23).

J. Removal of the lower aft barrel blanket (21)
   (1) Remove the 14 retainers (3) and, if installed, the washers that attach the lower aft barrel blanket (21) to the inner fixed structure of the thrust reverser.
   (2) Move the edge of the lower aft barrel blanket (21) out of the blanket retainer.
   (3) Remove the lower aft barrel blanket (21).

K. Installation of the protection covers
