C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Ground Maintenance

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO THE DEACTIVATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO MAINTENANCE WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS PROCEDURE, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED OPERATION AND THUS OF INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

D. Get Access
(1) Open the left thrust reverser cowl-door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

(2) Remove the lower forward barrel blanket from the lower inner structure of the left thrust reverser door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-41-000-803).

4. Procedure

CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.

Subtask 78-32-43-020-073-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Remove the bifurcation latch system handle assembly and receiver assembly from the left thrust reverser door.
(1) Remove the bolt (1) and washer (2) to disconnect the ground strap from the handle assembly (6).
(2) Remove the four bolts (3), two shims (4) and the bifurcation latch system panel (5) from the latch beam assembly.
(3) Remove the handle assembly (6) from the receiver assembly (7).
(4) Remove the bolt (8), washer (9), bushing (10) and nut (11), and remove the receiver assembly (7).
(5) Installation of the protection covers

CAUTION: INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.

(a) Make sure that you install COVER - PROTECTION as necessary to prevent damage to the engine.
