Installation of the Thrust Reverser Keepers

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Ground Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

   (1) Make sure that the right thrust reverser cowl-door is open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

4. Procedure
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 78-32-75-420-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Thrust Reverser Keepers
   (1) Install the No. 1 latch keeper:
     (a) Install the outer fail-safe pin (8) on the latch beam with the retention cap (6) and the nut (5).
F Thrust Reverser Keepers ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (b) TORQUE the nut (5) to between 200 and 175 lbf.in (2.26 and 1.98 m.daN ) T.
     (c) Install the inner fail-safe pin (7) in the outer fail-safe pin (8) with the washer (4) and the nut (3).
     (d) Make sure that the head of the inner fail-safe pin (7) aligns with the head of the outer fail-safe pin (8).
     (e) TORQUE the nut (3) to between 70 and 60 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.68 m.daN ) T.
     (f) Install the thermo-shield (2) on the latch beam with the four bolts (1).
F Thrust Reverser Thermo Shield, Track Lock Cover and Latch Beam Panel ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (g) TORQUE the four bolts (1) to between 35.0 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN ) T.
   (2) Install the No. 2 latch keeper:
F Thrust Reverser Keepers ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Install the bolt (12), the washers (10) and (11), and the nut (9) on the latch beam.
     (b) TORQUE the nut (9) to between 200 and 175 lbf.in (2.26 and 1.98 m.daN ) T.
     (c) Install the right aft latch beam blanket on the inner fixed structure (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-71-400-802).
   (3) Install the No. 3 latch keeper:

     (a) Install the bolt (18), the washers (16) and (17), and the nut (15) on the latch beam.
     (b) TORQUE the nut (15) to between 200 and 175 lbf.in (2.26 and 1.98 m.daN ) T.
     (c) Install the track lock cover (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-38-400-801).
   (4) Install the No. 4 latch keeper:
     (a) Install the bolt (24), the washers (22) and (23), and the nut (21) on the latch beam.
F Thrust Reverser Keepers ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (b) TORQUE the nut (21) to between 200 and 175 lbf.in (2.26 and 1.98 m.daN ) T.
     (c) Install the latch beam panel (19).
F Thrust Reverser Thermo Shield, Track Lock Cover and Latch Beam Panel ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
       1 Clean the mating surfaces of the latch beam panel (19) with a clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl.
       2 Remove the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl with a clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE RELEASE AGENT DOES NOT GET ON OTHER AREAS OF THE THRUST REVERSER DOOR. APPLY THE RELEASE AGENT AWAY FROM THE DOOR OR PUT MASKING TAPE ON THE ADJACENT AREAS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, DAMAGE TO THE OTHER SURFACES CAN OCCUR.
       3 Apply two layers of the release agent (Material No.PU5-0004) or alternate release agent (Material No.PU5-0004A) or alternate release agent (Material No.PU5-0004B) on the mating surfaces of the latch beam panel (19).
       4 Let the release agent (Material No.PU5-0004) or alternate fully dry. Refer to the instructions of the manufacturer.
       5 Examine the sealant on the latch beam. If the sealant is damaged or missing, do the following:
         a Remove the sealant from the latch beam with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
         b Clean the mating surfaces of the latch beam with a clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl.
         c Remove the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl with a clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
       6 Install the latch beam panel (19) with the four bolts (20).
       7 TORQUE the four bolts (20) to between 50 and 45 lbf.in (0.57 and 0.51 m.daN ) T.
       8 If the sealant was damaged or missing, apply the PR-2001 rapid cure fuel tank sealant (Material No.PU3-0005) or alternate sealant (Material No.PU3-0005A) or alternate sealant (Material No.PU3-0005B) in the spaces between the latch beam panel (19) and the latch beam.
       9 Remove the unwanted PR-2001 rapid cure fuel tank sealant (Material No.PU3-0005) or alternate with a clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) .
       10 Let the PR-2001 rapid cure fuel tank sealant (Material No.PU3-0005) or alternate fully dry. Refer to the instructions of the manufacturer.
   (5) Install the No. 5 latch keeper:
F Thrust Reverser Keepers ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Install the bolt (28), the washers (26) and (27), and the nut (25) on the aft latch housing.
     (b) TORQUE the nut (25) to between 200 and 175 lbf.in (2.26 and 1.98 m.daN ) T.
     (c) Install the right lower aft barrel blanket on the inner fixed structure (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-71-400-802).
   (6) Adjust the latches (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-35-820-801).
5. Close-up

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the right thrust-reverser cowl-door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)
