TASK 73-29-00-740-822-A
Wet Motor Procedure (Menu Mode)

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT WHEN THE ENGINES OPERATE ON THE GROUND:
  • NO PERSONS GO WHERE THE AIRCRAFT CAN CAUSE THEM INJURY OR CAN KILL THEM
  • NO OBJECTS STAY WHERE THE ENGINES CAN BLOW THEM AWAY OR WHERE THEY CAN BE PULLED INTO THE ENGINES BY SUCTION.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT ALL ENGINE OPERATING AREAS ARE AS CLEAN AS POSSIBLE. ALL RAMPS, TAXIWAYS, RUNWAYS AND OTHER OPERATING AREAS MUST BE VERY CLEAN TO PREVENT BAD DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE, AIRCRAFT AND PERSONS IN THE AREA.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE PROBES DURING OR IMMEDIATELY AFTER THIS PROCEDURE. THE PROBES WILL BE HOT AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE LANDING GEAR GROUND SAFETIES AND THE WHEEL CHOCKS ARE IN POSITION. MOVEMENT OF THE AIRCRAFT CAN BE DANGEROUS.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS NO HYDRAULIC GROUND POWER SUPPLY CONNECTED TO THE AIRCRAFT WHEN YOU DO THIS PROCEDURE. IF A HYDRAULIC GROUND POWER SUPPLY IS CONNECTED, THERE IS A RISK OF DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE PUMPS.
CAUTION: REMOVE THE PROTECTIVE COVERS FROM THE PROBES BEFORE YOU DO THIS PROCEDURE. IF YOU DO NOT REMOVE THEM, THE PROBES AND PROTECTIVE COVERS CAN BECOME DAMAGED OR BURNED.

A. Do this test:
WARNING: BEFORE YOU START THE ENGINE AFTER A WET MOTORING TEST, DRY MOTOR THE ENGINE FOR TWO MINUTES. A LARGE QUANTITY OF HIGHLY FLAMMABLE FUEL VAPORS COME OUT FROM THE ENGINE DURING THE WET MOTORING AND THERE IS A RISK OF FIRE.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE AIRCRAFT IS POINTED INTO THE WIND WHEN YOU DO A WET MOTORING TEST. A LARGE QUANTITY OF HIGHLY FLAMMABLE FUEL VAPORS COME OUT FROM THE ENGINE DURING THE WET MOTORING AND THERE IS A RISK OF FIRE.
   (1) Make sure the thrust reverser cowls doors are opened.
NOTE: During this test, fuel leak observations that follow can be expected:
  • Some fuel discharge at the LPT drain
  • Light fuel leak at the interface between the B-Sump drain line and the engine casing.
NOTE: During the test, obey the instructions shown on the Multipurpose Control and Display unit (MCDU).
NOTE: The Menu Mode wet motoring test is expected to take approximately four minutes to complete.
NOTE: The Electronic Engine Control (EEC) will not enter the menu mode (interactive mode) after an enquire command from the CFDS (Centralized Fault Display System) if one or more of the conditions that follow are set:
  • N2 more than ten percent or invalid
  • Rotary selector set on: CRANK or IGN/START or invalid
  • Manual Start Button set on: ON or invalid
  • TLA (Throttle Lever Angle) not at idle or invalid
  • Aircraft in the air
  • MASTER lever ON or invalid
  • BITE command code input label invalid.
NOTE: The EEC will abort a running test or special function if one or more of the conditions that follow becomes set:
  • N2 more than 45 percent or invalid
  • Engine state not starting or off.
  • Engine not in default , dry motor, or wet motor start state
  • Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) more than 250 deg.C (482.00 deg.F) or invalid
  • TLA not at idle or invalid
  • Aircraft in the air
