Pressurization of the Bleed System with the APU


WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE FWD AVIONICS ACCESS DOOR 811 IS OPEN WITH A WARNING PLACARD ATTACHED TO IT. THE WARNING NOTICE MUST TELL PERSONS NOT TO CLOSE THE DOOR. THIS PREVENTS ACCIDENTAL PRESSURIZATION OF THE AIRCRAFT.

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) When you operate the air conditioning system, make sure that access door 811 is open (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-002).
   (2) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position on access door 811 to tell persons not to close it.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Do the EIS start procedure (upper ECAM DU and lower ECAM DU only)
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001).
   (3) On AIR COND overhead-panel 30VU:
  • Release the PACK 1 and PACK 2 pushbutton switch (the OFF legends come on).
  • Make sure that the X-bleed selector switch is in the AUTO position.

4. Procedure
Subtask 36-12-00-860-083-A
A. Pressurization of the Bleed System with the APU
   (1) Start and operate the APU:
NOTE: After the APU starts, Airbus recommends you to wait for a minimum of 3 minutes for the warm up period, before you select the APU BLEED.
   (2) In the cockpit, on AIR COND overhead-panel 30VU:
  • Push the APU BLEED pushbutton-switch (the ON legend comes on).
   (3) On the ECAM control panel, push the BLEED key (the BLEED page comes into view).
   (4) On the AIR BLEED page of the lower-ECAM display unit:
  • Make sure that all the indications are normal (shown in green).
   (5) When the pressurization of the bleed system is not necessary:
     (a) In the cockpit, on AIR COND overhead-panel 30VU:
  • Push the APU BLEED pushbutton-switch to the released position (the ON legend goes off).
     (b) Stop the APU:

   (1) On AIR COND overhead-panel 30VU:

   (2) Do the EIS stop procedure (Upper ECAM DU and lower ECAM DU only) (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-002).
   (3) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).

B. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (2) Close access door 811 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-410-002).
