3. Job Set-up
Subtask 78-36-00-941-063-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Nacelle Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for nacelle maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807).
4. Procedure
Subtask 78-36-00-010-099-A
WARNING: DO NOT KEEP THE THRUST REVERSER OPEN WHEN THE WIND SPEED IS 40 KNOTS (74 KM/H) OR MORE. IF THE WIND MOVES THE THRUST REVERSER, INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE AND ADJACENT COMPONENTS CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: BEFORE YOU OPEN A THRUST REVERSER COWL IN THE INBOARD POSITION, MAKE SURE THAT THE SLATS ARE RETRACTED. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE SLATS AND THE THRUST REVERSER COWLS CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: DO NOT OPEN THE THRUST REVERSER WHEN THE TRANSLATING COWL IS DEPLOYED BY MORE THAN 10 INCHES (254 MM). DO NOT DEPLOY THE TRANSLATING COWL WHEN THE THRUST REVERSER IS OPEN. WHEN THE THRUST REVERSER IS OPEN IT CAN HIT THE WING IF THE TRANSLATING COWL IS MOVED TO THE DEPLOYED POSITION. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE THRUST REVERSER AND THE WING.
CAUTION: DO NOT OPEN THE THRUST REVERSER DOORS IF THE WIND SPEED IS MORE THAN 40 KNOTS.
A. Opening of the Thrust Reverser Cowl Doors
NOTE: You can open each thrust reverser cowl independently.
   (1) Opening of the 6 o'clock rear latch access door (1):
     (a) Push the door latches (3) on the latch access door (1).
     (b) Carefully open the 6 o'clock rear latch access door (1).
   (2) Opening of the 6 o'clock forward latch access door (2):
     (a) Push the door latches (3) on the latch access door (2).
     (b) Carefully open the 6 o'clock forward latch access door (2).
   (3) Opening of the latches:
     (a) Open latch L1.
     (b) Open latch L2.
     (c) Open latch L3.1.
     (d) Open latch L3.2.
     (e) Open latch L4 and LACC.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU RELEASE THE LATCHES L4 OF THE TRANSCOWL AND THE LATCH OF THE AFT CORE COWL. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR WHEN YOU OPEN THE THRUST REVERSER.
       1 Open latch L4.1.
       2 Open latch L4.2.
       3 Open latch LACC-1.
       4 Open latch LACC-2.
   (4) Connection of the 98N7830H013-000 THRUST REVERSER OPEN PUMP.:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU USE THE THRUST REVERSER OPEN PUMP 98N7830H013-000. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, OIL LEAKAGE CAN OCCUR.
     (a) Put the 98N7830H013-000 THRUST REVERSER OPEN PUMP. in position.
     (b) Connect the hose of the 98N7830H013-000 THRUST REVERSER OPEN PUMP. to the opening actuator manifold (6) on the thrust reverser cowl.
     (c) Make sure that the 98N7830H013-000 THRUST REVERSER OPEN PUMP. reservoir is filled.
   (5) Opening of the thrust reverser cowl:
CAUTION: DO NOT CONNECT THE HOLD OPEN ROD (HOR) BEFORE THE THRUST REVERSER COWL IS OPEN TO 45 DEGREES. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE HOR AND ITS FITTING CAN OCCUR.
     (a) Make sure that the hose on the 98N7830H013-000 THRUST REVERSER OPEN PUMP. is correctly connected to the opening actuator manifold (6).
     (b) Close the valve on the 98N7830H013-000 THRUST REVERSER OPEN PUMP..
     (c) Operate the 98N7830H013-000 THRUST REVERSER OPEN PUMP. until the thrust reverser cowl is open to 45 degrees.
     (d) Disconnect the Hold Open Rod (HOR) (4) from the forward frame storage fitting (5).
     (e) Move the HOR (4) to the engine fitting.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT YOU CONNECT THE HOLD-OPEN ROD TO THE THRUST-REVERSER HOLD-OPEN ROD ENGINE FITTING AND NOT TO THE FAN-COWL HOLD-OPEN ROD ENGINE FITTING. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, THERE IS A RISK OF INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: WHEN YOU ATTACH THE HOR TO ITS FITTING, MAKE SURE THAT THE HOR HOOK DOES NOT HIT THE HOR FITTING. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE HOR FITTING CAN OCCUR.
     (f) Connection of the HOR (4):
PRE SPOL BD-TR-17021
       1 Connect the HOR (4) on the engine fitting.

END OF PRE SPOL BD-TR-17021

POST SPOL BD-TR-17021
       2 Connect the HOR (4) with the green indicator on the HOR (4) hook on the engine fitting.

END OF POST SPOL BD-TR-17021
     (g) Operate the 98N7830H013-000 THRUST REVERSER OPEN PUMP. until the HOR (4) is autolocked.
NOTE: The thrust reverser cowl is open to 45 degrees.
     (h) Make sure that the green strip indicator of the HOR (4) is shown to make sure that the HOR (4) is completely extended and locked.
     (i) Open the valve on the 98N7830H013-000 THRUST REVERSER OPEN PUMP. to load the HOR (4).
   (6) Disconnection of the 98N7830H013-000 THRUST REVERSER OPEN PUMP.:
     (a) Close the valve on the 98N7830H013-000 THRUST REVERSER OPEN PUMP..
     (b) Disconnect the hose of the 98N7830H013-000 THRUST REVERSER OPEN PUMP. from the actuator manifold connector of the thrust reverser cowl.
