A. Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).

B. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the ENG/MODE selector switch and the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

   (2) Remove the air intake cowl anti-ice door (Ref. AMM TASK 71-60-42-000-802).

D. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Ground Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807).

   (1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
4. Procedure

A. Do a detailed Visual Inspection of the Engine Air-Intake Ice-Protection-Ducts, the Nozzles and the Injectors
INSPECT/CHECK
MAXIMUM SERVICEABLE LIMITS
REMARKS
1.Use a FLASHLIGHT and a MIRROR - INSPECTION to inspect the ducts, the nozzles and the injectors.
2.If necessary, use a BORESCOPE - FLEXIBLE for parts not accessible with the inspection mirror and the flashlight.


3.Examine the ducts for:


A.Cracks
Not serviceable.
If damaged, replace (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-808) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-400-808).
B.Dents
Depth must not be more than 4.45 mm (0.18 in.).
If you find damage beyond the maximum serviceable limits, then replace (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-808) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-400-808).
C.Nicks, scratches, chafing or scores
Depth must not be more than 0.05 mm (0.002 in.) after the removal of the high metal by filing.
If you find damage beyond the maximum serviceable limits, then replace (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-808) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-400-808).
4.Examine the support flanges that are welded to the ducts for:


A.Cracks
Not serviceable.
If damaged, replace (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-808) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-400-808).
B.Broken or missing material
Not serviceable.
If damaged, replace (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-808) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-400-808).
C.Separated from tube
Not serviceable.
If damaged, replace (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-808) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-400-808).
D.Wear
Any amount, 0.08 mm (0.003 in.) in depth.
If you find damage beyond the maximum serviceable limits, then replace (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-808) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-400-808).
5.Examine the coupling nuts of the attached indicating tubes for:


A.Cracks
Not serviceable.
If damaged, replace (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-11-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-11-400-801).
6.Examine the long PT1 indicating tubes and the short PT2 indicating tube for:


A.Cracks
Not serviceable.
If damaged, replace (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-11-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-11-400-801).
B.Dents
Depth must not be more than 0.97 mm (0.04 in.).
If you find damage beyond the maximum serviceable limits, then replace (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-11-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-11-400-801).
C.Nicks, scratches, chafing or scores
Depth must not be more than 0.036 mm (0.0014 in.) after the removal of the high metal by filing.
If you find damage beyond the maximum serviceable limits, then replace (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-11-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-11-400-801).
7.Examine the insulation blankets and the insulation boots on the fan compartment duct and the core compartment duct for:


A.Tears, missing straps and missing material
Not serviceable.
If damaged, replace (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-808) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-400-808).
B.Dents-permissible for any depth.


C.Nicks, scratches, chafing or scores
Depth must not be more than 0.05 mm (0.002 in.) after the removal of the high metal by filing.
If you find damage beyond the maximum serviceable limits, then replace (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-808) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-400-808).
8.Examine the V-band clamps, the coupling bands and the retaining straps for:


A.Cracks
Not serviceable.
If damaged, replace (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-808) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-400-808).
9.Make sure that PRSOV1 and PRSOV2 and its attach fitting are in the correct condition.

If needed, correct the position (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-808) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-400-808).
10.Make sure that the ducting has no obvious damage or signs of leaks and no burn area on the surrounding surface.

If damaged, replace (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-808) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-400-808).
11.Make sure that the clamps are correctly installed.

If needed, correct the position (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-808) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-400-808).
12.Inspect the injector and the NAI nozzle through the NAI holes to any fracture of the injector or obvious cracks.

If damage found, contact SAFRAN Nacelles.
NOTE: The aft nacelle anti-ice-valve is known as Pressure Regulating and Shut-Off Valve 1 (PRSOV1).
NOTE: The forward nacelle anti-ice-valve is known as Pressure Regulating and Shut-Off Valve 2 (PRSOV2).
5. Close-up

   (2) Close the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-806):

   (1) Do the reactivation of the thrust reverser system after ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-440-807).

   (1) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-803):
