Installation of the Air Intake Cowl Anti-Ice Door


WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING: YOU MUST NOT TOUCH HOT PARTS WITHOUT APPLICABLE GLOVES. HOT PARTS CAN CAUSE AN INJURY.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 71-60-42-941-050-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
4. Procedure
Subtask 71-60-42-110-050-A
A. Preparation for installation
   (1) Clean the inlet cowl anti-ice access panel (3) and contact surfaces of the inlet cowl (1) with Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Hydraulic (Material No.06LDG6) on the screws (2).

B. Installation of the Inlet Cowl Anti Ice Access Panel
   (1) Put the access panel (3) in position on the inlet cowl (1).
   (2) Install the screws (2).
   (3) If the sealant bead is damaged:
  • Use a SPATULA - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from the inlet cowl (1).
  • Use Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to remove release agent and renew the sealant.
     (a) Apply Release Agent-- Liquid Wax - (Material No.14DBB1) on each contact surface of the access panel (3).
     (b) Apply Silicone Sealant-High Temp. - - (Material No.06BJB1) on each contact surface of the inlet cowl (1).
   (4) TORQUE the screw (2) to between 42.50 and 32.75 lbf.in (0.48 and 0.37 m.daN ) T.
5. Close-up

A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
