A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING: OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
   (1) Obey the hydraulic safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-910-002).
   (2) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (3) Make sure that the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (4) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • In the cockpit on the hydraulic section 40VU of the overhead panel
  • On the ground service panel of the Yellow hydraulic system.
   (5) Make sure that the access door 198CB is open.
   (6) Make sure that the access door 196BB is open.
   (7) Make sure that the isolation coupling of the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) is disconnected (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).
   (8) Make sure that the CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) is in position below the location of the HP manifold.

4. Procedure
Subtask 29-13-14-560-050-B
A. Preparation of the Replacement Component
   (1) Remove the components which are attached to the removed HP manifold as follows:
NOTE: These components are hydraulically attached to the HP manifold with bobbins:
  • The HP filter 3048GM
  • The relief valve 3063GM
     (a) Remove the HP filter 3048GM as follows:
       1 Hold the HP filter 3048GM and remove the bolts (35), (36) and the washers (37).
       2 Remove the HP filter 3048GM from the manifold (17).
     (b) Remove the relief valve 3063GM (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-32-000-001).
     (c) Remove the hydraulic pressure transducer 3065GN (Ref. AMM TASK 29-32-11-000-003).
     (d) Remove the system pressure switch 3151GN (Ref. AMM TASK 29-32-12-000-003).
     (e) Remove the flight-control pressure switch 10CE3 (Ref. AMM TASK 27-92-17-000-002).
     (f) Remove the fluid sampling valve 3187GM (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-34-000-001).
     (g) Remove the check valve 3022GM as follows:
       1 Loosen the check valve 3022GM and remove it with the O-ring (24).
       2 Remove and discard the O-ring (24).
     (h) Remove the four bobbins (14) and (39) from the manifold (17) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-23-21-911-001).
NOTE: There is one size of bobbins.
     (i) Install a PLUG - BLANKING in the open ports of the manifold (17).
     (j) Remove and discard these items from the bobbins:
  • The square section seals (15) and (40)
  • The O-rings (56) and (57)
  • The back-up rings (54), (55), (58) and (38).
     (k) Put the bobbins into the BAG - PLASTIC to keep them clean.
     (l) Install blanking plugs in the open ports of all of the removed components.
   (2) Install the removed components onto the replacement manifold (17) as follows:
     (a) Make sure that the threaded inserts (18) and cylindrical pin (16) are installed in the ports of the manifold (17). If not, install them in the manifold (17) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-23-21-911-001).
     (b) Remove the blanking plugs from the ports of the manifold (17) and the components.
     (c) Apply the Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the new O-rings, back-up rings, square-section seals and the threads of the unions.
     (d) Put the two new AIPC 29-13-14-02-160 BACK-UP RINGS (54) in position on the sides of the bobbins (14) without the identification grooves (equipment side).
     (e) Put the two new
AIPC 29-13-14-02-170 SQUARE-SECTION SEALS (15) in position on the sides of the bobbins (14) without the identification grooves (equipment side).
     (f) Put the two new
AIPC 29-13-14-02-150 BACK-UP RINGS (55) in position on the sides of the bobbins (14) with the identification grooves (manifold side).
     (g) Put the two new
AIPC 29-13-14-02-140 O-RINGS (56) in position on the sides of the bobbins (14) with the identification grooves (manifold side).
     (h) Install the two bobbins (14) with the identification grooves in the ports of the manifold (17) (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-23-21-911-001).
     (i) Put the two new AIPC 29-13-14-02-160 BACKUP-RINGS (38) in position on the sides of the bobbins (39) without the identification grooves (equipment side).
     (j) Put the two new
AIPC 29-13-14-02-170 SQUARE-SECTION SEALS (40) in position on the sides of the bobbins (39) without the identification grooves (equipment side).
     (k) Put the two new
AIPC 29-13-14-02-150 BACKUP-RINGS (58) in position on the sides of the bobbins (39) with the identification grooves (manifold side).
     (l) Put the two new
AIPC 29-13-14-02-140 O-RINGS (57) in position on the sides of the bobbins (39) with the identification grooves (manifold side).
     (m) Install the two bobbins (39) with the identification grooves in the port of the manifold (17) (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-23-21-911-001).
     (n) Install the HP filter 3048GM as follows:
       1 Put the HP filter 3048GM in the installation position on the manifold (17).
       2 Install the four washers (37) and the four bolts (35) and (36).
       3 TORQUE the four bolts (35) and (36) to between 1.8 and 1.6 m.daN (13.27 and 11.80 lbf.ft ) T.
     (o) Install the check valve 3022GM as follows:
       1 Apply the Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.
02ABA1) to the new AIPC 29-13-14-02-080 O-RING (24).
       2 Put the new O-ring (24) in position on the check valve 3022GM.
       3 Install the check valve 3022GM in port E of the manifold (17).
       4 Torque the check valve 3022GM as follows:
         a TORQUE the check valve 3022GM to between 14.2 and 12.9 m.daN (104.72 and 95.13 lbf.ft )
T.
     (p) Install the fluid sampling valve 3187GM (
Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-34-400-001).
     (q) Install the system pressure switch 3151GN (Ref. AMM TASK 29-32-12-400-003).
     (r) Install the flight-control pressure switch 10CE3 (Ref. AMM TASK 27-92-17-400-002).
     (s) Install the hydraulic pressure transducer 3065GN (Ref. AMM TASK 29-32-11-400-003).
     (t) Install the relief valve 3063GM (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-32-400-001).

B. Installation of the HP Manifold
CAUTION: USE A SECOND WRENCH TO APPLY COUNTERTORQUE TO THE UNION WHEN YOU DISCONNECT/CONNECT HYDRAULIC LINES ON UNIONS. IF YOU DO NOT USE THE SECOND WRENCH, THERE IS A RISK THAT YOU WILL LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE UNION TOO MUCH.
CAUTION: YOU MUST INSTALL HYDRAULIC TUBES WITH HYDRAULIC FLUID AS LUBRICANT.
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Remove the blanking plugs from the pipe connections.
   (4) Make sure that the hydraulic line end-fittings are serviceable.
   (5) Apply the Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the threads of the line end-fittings.
   (6) Put the manifold (17) in position on the aircraft and at the same time install the five distance pieces (21). Hold the manifold (17) and distance pieces (21) in position.
   (7) Install the five bolts (19) and the washers (20).
   (8) Tighten the bolts (19).
   (9) Connect the tee-connector (1) to the union (3).
   (10) TORQUE the pipe end-fitting (2) to between 14.2 and 12.9 m.daN (104.72 and 95.13 lbf.ft ) T.
   (11) Connect the pipe (25) to the union (27).
   (12) TORQUE the pipe end-fitting (26) to between 9.5 and 8.5 m.daN (70.06 and 62.68 lbf.ft )
T.
   (13) If the pipe end-fitting (26) leaks during pressure testing, you can loosen the pipe end-fitting (26), and TORQUE it to between 9.5 and 8.5 m.daN (70.06 and 62.68 lbf.ft )
T in one step.
   (14) Connect the pipe (22) to the check valve 3022GM.
   (15) TORQUE the pipe end-fitting (23) to between 8.9 and 8.1 m.daN (65.63 and 59.73 lbf.ft )
T.
   (16) Connect the pipe (29) to the union (31).
   (17) TORQUE the pipe end-fitting (30) to between 8.3 and 7.5 m.daN (61.21 and 55.31 lbf.ft )
T.
   (18) Install the pipe (46) between the tee-connector (44) and the union (48).
   (19) Torque the pipe end-fittings as follows:
     (a) TORQUE the pipe end-fittings (47) and (45) to between 9.5 and 8.5 m.daN (70.06 and 62.68 lbf.ft )
T.
   (20) Remove the blanking caps from the electrical connectors.
   (21) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE BONDING STRAP(S) IS(ARE) CONNECTED BEFORE YOU CONNECT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR(S).
   (22) Connect the electrical connectors (5), (41), (42) and (43) to the receptacles on the manifold (17).

C. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

D. Preparation for the Test
   (1) Pressurize the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system (
Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-002).
   (2) Make sure that the fluid level in the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system is correct. Add fluid as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-001).
   (3) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (4) Do the EIS start procedure (upper ECAM DU and lower ECAM DU only)
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001).
   (5) On the ECAM control panel on the center pedestal, push the HYD pushbutton. Make sure that the HYD page on the system (lower) display comes on.

E. Do this test:
ACTION
RESULT
1.Pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-002).

2.Examine the HP manifold and the pipe connections for leaks.
No leaks.
3.Compare the hydraulic pressure indication on the ECAM system (lower) display with the indication on the pressure gage 3072GM of the Yellow power accumulator.
The digital pressure indication agrees with the indication on the pressure gage 3072GM.
4.On the panel 50VU:
  • Lift the guard and set the HYD/LEAK MEASUREMENT VALVES /Y pushbutton switch (P/BSW) to OFF.
On the panel 50VU:
  • The OFF legend of the HYD/LEAK MEASUREMENT VALVES/Y P/BSW comes on.
On the lower display unit (DU) of the ECAM system:
  • The flow arrow and system name of the Yellow system change color to amber.
5.On the panel 50VU:
  • Set the HYD/LEAK MEASUREMENT VALVES/Y P/BSW to on.
On the panel 50VU:
  • The OFF legend of the HYD/LEAK MEASUREMENT VALVES/Y P/BSW goes off.
On the lower DU of the ECAM:
  • The color of the Yellow system flow arrow changes to green and the color of the system name changes to white.
6.Control the hydraulic supply to reduce the Yellow system pressure. Compare the indication of the ECAM system display with the indication on the pressure gage 3072GM.
The ECAM pressure indication agrees with the indication on the pressure gage 3072GM.
5. Close-up
Subtask 29-13-14-860-052-A
A. Put the aircraft back to the serviceable condition.
   (1) Depressurize the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002).
   (2) Make sure that the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system is pressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-002).
   (3) Make sure that the fluid level in the Yellow hydraulic system is correct. Add fluid as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-001).
   (4) Connect the isolation coupling of the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-002).
   (5) Do the EIS stop procedure
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-002).
   (6) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
   (7) Remove the container from below the HP manifold.
   (8) Remove the warning notices from the cockpit and the ground service panel.
   (9) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (10) Close the access door 196BB.
   (11) Close the access door 198CB.
