D. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Ground Maintenance
Subtask 78-31-04-010-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). E. Get Access to the TRAS Locking-Feedback Actuator
(1) Make sure that the TRAS locking-feedback-actuator access-panels are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-34-000-802) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-64-000-802):

4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the TRAS locking-feedback-actuator access-panels are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-34-000-802) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-64-000-802):

CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 78-31-04-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Installation of the left TRAS Locking Feedback Actuator
(1) Extend the left locking feedback actuator (1).
(a) Remove the protection covers
(b) Turn the left locking feedback actuator (1) manual lock drive to the unlocked position.
(c) Install the 636-3000-28GSE TR ACT. PRIM. LCK PIN in the left locking feedback actuator (1) through the manual lock drive to hold the manual lock drive in position.
(d) Extend the locking feedback actuator
(e) Install the COVER - PROTECTION back on the left locking feedback actuator (1).
(2) Put the actuator seal (19) on the left locking feedback actuator (1).
(3) Move the actuator seal (19) to the base of the left locking feedback actuator (1).
(4) Make sure that the metal plate of the seal touches the actuator seal backing plate.
(5) Put the left locking feedback actuator (1) in position on the thrust reverser.
(a) Carefully put the left locking feedback actuator (1) through the TRAS fitting.
(b) Turn the left locking feedback actuator (1) approximately 90 degrees until the rod end of the left locking feedback actuator (1) can fit through the cascade ring bumper.
(c) Turn the left locking feedback actuator (1) back 90 degrees when the locking feedback actuator (1) rod end is through the cascade ring bumper.
(d) Put the left locking feedback actuator in position.
(6) Apply a thin layer of anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) to the two gimbal pins (18).
(7) Have one person push the left locking feedback actuator (1) against the TRAS fitting and compress the actuator seal (19). Have the second person install the gimbal pins (11) into the TRAS fitting and left locking feedback actuator (1).
(8) Safety the gimbal pins (18) with two gimbal pin retainers (17), the four bolts (15) and the four washers (16).
(9) TORQUE the bolts (15) to between 90 and 81 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.92 m.daN )
.
(10) Apply a thin layer of anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) to the shank and threads of the bolt (2).
(11) Attach the left locking feedback actuator (1) to the translating sleeve fitting. Use the bolt (2) and bushing (3).
(12) TORQUE the bolt (2) to between 420 and 370 lbf.in (4.75 and 4.18 m.daN )

(13) Attach the grounding strap (11) to the left locking feedback actuator (1).
(a) Clean the surface where the grounding strap (11) attaches to the locking feedback actuator (1) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made moist withPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl .
(b) Dry the surfaces with a dry clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl dries.
(c) Attach the grounding strap (11) to the locking feedback actuator (1). Use the bolt (12) and washers (13) and (14).
(d) TORQUE the bolt (12) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN )
.
(e) Measure the resistance between the grounding strap (11) lug and the upper torque box with an MILLIOHMMETER - STANDARD. Make sure that the resistance is 0.0100 ohms or less.
(f) If the resistance is more than 0.0100 ohms, remove the bolt (12) and washers (13) and (14) and do steps 4.A.(13)(a) thru 4.A.(13)(e) again.
(14) Remove the COVER - PROTECTION from the left locking feedback actuator (1), deploy tube and flexible drive shaft, left return hose, left deploy hose, left stow hose, left stow tube and left return tube.
(15) Connect the left return hose, left deploy hose and left stow hose to the left locking feedback actuator (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-50-400-801).
(16) Connect the left stow tube and left return tube to the left locking feedback actuator (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-50-400-801).
(17) If you removed the clamps and hardware on the hydraulic tubes, install the clamps and hardware back on the hydraulic tubs and torque box. (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-50-400-801).
(18) Connect the flexible drive shaft to the left locking feedback actuator (1). (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-07-400-801).
(19) If you removed the clamps, clamp assemblies and hardware on the deploy tube, install the clamps, clamp assemblies and hardware back on the deploy tube and torque box (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-50-400-801).
(20) Connection of the electrical connectors
(b) Tighten the connectors with your fingers. Then tighten the connectors 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn more with PLIERS - CONNECTOR, JAW, SOFT.
(21) Attach the left TRAS monitoring harness and the actuator bracket to the left locking feedback actuator (1). Use the two bolts (5) and the two washers (4).
(22) TORQUE the bolts (5) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN )

(23) Retraction of the left translating sleeve
(24) If one or both the left locking actuator and left locking feedback actuator (1) do not lock when you retract the translating sleeve, do as follows:
(a) Remove the flexible drive shaft (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-07-000-801).
(b) For the left locking feedback actuator (1), do as follows:
2 Remove the DRIVE 0.2 IN - SQUARE from the left locking feedback actuator (1).
(c) For the left locking actuator, do as follows:
1 Turn the Manual Drive Unit (MDU) lever to the unlocked position.
2 Put the DRIVE 3/8 IN - SQUARE in the MDU square drive engagement.
3 Turn the MDU and retract the left locking actuator to the locked position.
5 Rotate the MDU lever to the locked position.
Subtask 78-31-04-420-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Extend the left locking feedback actuator (1).
(a) Remove the protection covers
CAUTION:
REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE ACTUATOR BEFORE YOU MANUALLY EXTEND IT. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, THE ACTUATOR CAN OPERATE INCORRECTLY AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
1 Remove the COVER - PROTECTION from the left locking feedback actuator (1). (b) Turn the left locking feedback actuator (1) manual lock drive to the unlocked position.
(c) Install the 636-3000-28GSE TR ACT. PRIM. LCK PIN in the left locking feedback actuator (1) through the manual lock drive to hold the manual lock drive in position.
(d) Extend the locking feedback actuator
CAUTION:
DO NOT APPLY A TORQUE OF MORE THAN 70 LBF-IN (0.79 m.daN) WHEN YOU ADJUST THE ACTUATOR. TOO MUCH TORQUE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ACTUATOR.
1 Carefully extend the left locking feedback actuator (1) to the length that you recorded when you removed the left locking feedback actuator (1). Use the DRIVE 0.2 IN - SQUARE and the WRENCH - TORQUE. (e) Install the COVER - PROTECTION back on the left locking feedback actuator (1).
(2) Put the actuator seal (19) on the left locking feedback actuator (1).
(3) Move the actuator seal (19) to the base of the left locking feedback actuator (1).
(4) Make sure that the metal plate of the seal touches the actuator seal backing plate.
(5) Put the left locking feedback actuator (1) in position on the thrust reverser.
(a) Carefully put the left locking feedback actuator (1) through the TRAS fitting.
(b) Turn the left locking feedback actuator (1) approximately 90 degrees until the rod end of the left locking feedback actuator (1) can fit through the cascade ring bumper.
(c) Turn the left locking feedback actuator (1) back 90 degrees when the locking feedback actuator (1) rod end is through the cascade ring bumper.
(d) Put the left locking feedback actuator in position.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE ACTUATOR ROD END ALIGNS WITH THE TRANSLATING SLEEVE ACTUATOR FITTING. DO NOT USE FORCE TO PUT THE ACTUATOR ROD END INTO POSITION. IF YOU DO NOT OBETY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
1 Carefully move the left locking feedback actuator (1) aft until the left locking feedback actuator (1) rod end aligns with the translating sleeve actuator fitting. (6) Apply a thin layer of anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) to the two gimbal pins (18).
(7) Have one person push the left locking feedback actuator (1) against the TRAS fitting and compress the actuator seal (19). Have the second person install the gimbal pins (11) into the TRAS fitting and left locking feedback actuator (1).
(8) Safety the gimbal pins (18) with two gimbal pin retainers (17), the four bolts (15) and the four washers (16).
(9) TORQUE the bolts (15) to between 90 and 81 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.92 m.daN )
. (10) Apply a thin layer of anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) to the shank and threads of the bolt (2).
(11) Attach the left locking feedback actuator (1) to the translating sleeve fitting. Use the bolt (2) and bushing (3).
(12) TORQUE the bolt (2) to between 420 and 370 lbf.in (4.75 and 4.18 m.daN )
. (13) Attach the grounding strap (11) to the left locking feedback actuator (1).
(a) Clean the surface where the grounding strap (11) attaches to the locking feedback actuator (1) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made moist with

(c) Attach the grounding strap (11) to the locking feedback actuator (1). Use the bolt (12) and washers (13) and (14).
(d) TORQUE the bolt (12) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN )
. (e) Measure the resistance between the grounding strap (11) lug and the upper torque box with an MILLIOHMMETER - STANDARD. Make sure that the resistance is 0.0100 ohms or less.
(f) If the resistance is more than 0.0100 ohms, remove the bolt (12) and washers (13) and (14) and do steps 4.A.(13)(a) thru 4.A.(13)(e) again.
(14) Remove the COVER - PROTECTION from the left locking feedback actuator (1), deploy tube and flexible drive shaft, left return hose, left deploy hose, left stow hose, left stow tube and left return tube.
(15) Connect the left return hose, left deploy hose and left stow hose to the left locking feedback actuator (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-50-400-801).
(16) Connect the left stow tube and left return tube to the left locking feedback actuator (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-50-400-801).
(17) If you removed the clamps and hardware on the hydraulic tubes, install the clamps and hardware back on the hydraulic tubs and torque box. (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-50-400-801).
(18) Connect the flexible drive shaft to the left locking feedback actuator (1). (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-07-400-801).
(19) If you removed the clamps, clamp assemblies and hardware on the deploy tube, install the clamps, clamp assemblies and hardware back on the deploy tube and torque box (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-50-400-801).
(20) Connection of the electrical connectors
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR AND RECEPTACLE ARE CLEAN WHEN YOU CONNECT THEM. DIRTY CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION:
USE PLIERS THAT HAVE TEFLON JAWS TO TIGHTEN THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. DO NOT USE PLIERS THAT HAVE METAL JAWS. METAL JAWS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS.
(a) Connect the left TRAS monitoring harness (4003KS-A), (4032KS-A) and (4040KS-A) to the left locking feedback actuator (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-61-400-811). (b) Tighten the connectors with your fingers. Then tighten the connectors 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn more with PLIERS - CONNECTOR, JAW, SOFT.
(21) Attach the left TRAS monitoring harness and the actuator bracket to the left locking feedback actuator (1). Use the two bolts (5) and the two washers (4).
(22) TORQUE the bolts (5) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN )
. (23) Retraction of the left translating sleeve
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT BOTH THE LOCKING ACTUATOR AND LOCKING FEEDBACK ACTUATOR LOCK WHEN YOU RETRACT THE TRANSLATING SLEEVE. IF ONE OR BOTH ACTUATORS DO NOT LOCK, THE ACTUATION SYSTEM IS NOT CORRECTLY SYNCHRONIZED.
(a) Manually retract the left translating sleeve (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-860-803). (24) If one or both the left locking actuator and left locking feedback actuator (1) do not lock when you retract the translating sleeve, do as follows:
(a) Remove the flexible drive shaft (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-07-000-801).
(b) For the left locking feedback actuator (1), do as follows:
CAUTION:
DO NOT APPLY A TORQUE OF MORE THAN 70 LBF-IN (0.79 m.daN) WHEN YOU ADJUST THE ACTUATOR. TOO MUCH TORQUE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ACTUATOR.
1 Retract the left locking feedback actuator (1) to the locked position. Use the DRIVE 0.2 IN - SQUARE and the WRENCH - TORQUE. 2 Remove the DRIVE 0.2 IN - SQUARE from the left locking feedback actuator (1).
(c) For the left locking actuator, do as follows:
1 Turn the Manual Drive Unit (MDU) lever to the unlocked position.
2 Put the DRIVE 3/8 IN - SQUARE in the MDU square drive engagement.
3 Turn the MDU and retract the left locking actuator to the locked position.
NOTE: Turn the MDU on the left thrust reverser half clockwise to retract the translating sleeve. Turn the manual drive unit on the right thrust reverser half counterclockwise to retract the translating sleeve.
4 Remove the DRIVE 3/8 IN - SQUARE from the MDU. 5 Rotate the MDU lever to the locked position.
B. Installation of the right TRAS Locking Feedback Actuator
(1) Extend the right locking feedback actuator (20).
(a) Remove the protection covers:
(b) Turn the right locking feedback actuator (20) manual lock drive to the unlocked position.
(c) Install the 636-3000-28GSE TR ACT. PRIM. LCK PIN in the right locking feedback actuator (20) through the manual lock drive to hold the manual lock drive in position.
(d) Extend the locking feedback actuator:
(e) Install the COVER - PROTECTION back on the right locking feedback actuator (20).
(2) Put the actuator seal (38) on the right locking feedback actuator (20). Move the actuator seal (38) to the base of the right locking feedback actuator (20).
(3) Make sure the metal plate of the seal is touching the actuator seal backing plate.
(4) Put the right locking feedback actuator (20) in position on the thrust reverser.
(a) Carefully put the right locking feedback actuator (20) through the TRAS fitting.
(b) Turn the right locking feedback actuator (20) approximately 90 degrees until the rod end of the right locking feedback actuator (20) can fit through the cascade ring bumper.
(c) Turn the right locking feedback actuator (20) back 90 degrees when the locking feedback actuator (20) rod end is through the cascade ring bumper.
(d) Put the right locking feedback actuator in position:
(5) Apply a thin layer of braycote 868 anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) to the two gimbal pins (34).
(6) Have one person push the right locking feedback actuator (20) against the TRAS fitting and compress the actuator seal (38). Have a second person install the gimbal pins (34) in the TRAS fitting and right locking feedback actuator (20).
(7) Safety the gimbal pins (34) with two gimbal pin retainers (35), the four bolts (37) and four washers (38).

(9) Apply a thin layer of braycote 868 anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) to the threads of the bolt (21).
(10) Attach the right locking feedback actuator (1) to the translating sleeve fitting with the bolt (21) and bushing (22).
(11) TORQUE the bolt (21) to between 420 and 370 lbf.in (4.75 and 4.18 m.daN )
.
(12) Attach the grounding strap (28) to the right locking feedback actuator (20).
(a) Clean the surface where the grounding strap (28) attaches to the right locking feedback actuator (20) with a cleanPU1-0001 cotton cloth, lint-free made moist with PU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl .
(b) Dry the surfaces with a dry cleanPU1-0001 cotton cloth, lint-free before the PU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl dries.
(c) Attach the grounding strap (28) to the right locking feedback actuator (20) with the bolt (29) and washers (30) and (31).
(d) TORQUE the bolt (29) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN )
.
(e) Measure the resistance between the grounding strap (28) lug and the upper torque box with a MILLIOHMMETER - STANDARD. Make sure the resistance is 0.0100 ohms or less.
(f) If the resistance is more than 0.0100 ohms, remove the bolt (29) and washers (30) and (31) and do step 4.B.(12)(a) thru 4.B.(12)(f) again.
(13) Remove the COVER - PROTECTION from the right locking feedback actuator (20), deploy tube and flexible drive shaft, right return hose, right deploy hose, right stow hose, right stow tube and right return tube.
(14) Connect the right return hose, right deploy hose and right stow hose to the right locking feedback actuator (20) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-50-400-801).
(15) Install the right stow tube and right return tube to the right locking feedback actuator (20) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-50-400-801).
(16) If you removed the clamps and hardware on the hydraulic tubes, install the clamps and hardware back on the hydraulic tubs and torque box (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-50-400-801).
(17) Connect the flexible drive shaft and deploy tube to the right locking feedback actuator (20) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-07-400-801).
(18) If you removed the clamps, clamp assemblies and hardware on the deploy tube, install the clamps, clamp assemblies and hardware back on the deploy tube and torque box (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-50-400-801).
(19) Connection of the electrical connectors:
(b) Tighten the connectors with your fingers. Then tighten the connectors 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn more with PLIERS - CONNECTOR, JAW, SOFT.
(20) Attach the right TRAS monitoring harness and the two actuator brackets to the right locking feedback actuator (20). Use the two bolts (23) and two washers (24).
(21) TORQUE the bolts (23) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN )
.
(22) Retract the right translating sleeve as follows:
(23) If one or both the right locking actuator and right locking feedback actuator (20) do not lock when you retract the translating sleeve, do as follows:
(a) Remove the flexible drive shaft (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-07-000-801).
(b) For the right locking feedback actuator (20), do as follows:
2 Remove the DRIVE 0.2 IN - SQUARE from the right locking feedback actuator (20).
(c) For the right locking actuator, do the following:
1 Turn the MDU lever to the unlocked position.
2 Put the DRIVE 3/8 IN - SQUARE in the MDU square drive engagement.
3 Turn the MDU and retract the right locking actuator to the locked position.
5 Rotate the MDU lever to the locked position.
(d) Install the flexible drive shaft (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-07-400-801).
5. Close-up(1) Extend the right locking feedback actuator (20).
(a) Remove the protection covers:
CAUTION:
REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE ACTUATOR BEFORE YOU MANUALLY EXTEND IT. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, THE ACTUATOR CAN OPERATE INCORRECTLY AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
1 Remove the COVER - PROTECTION from the right locking feedback actuator (20). (b) Turn the right locking feedback actuator (20) manual lock drive to the unlocked position.
(c) Install the 636-3000-28GSE TR ACT. PRIM. LCK PIN in the right locking feedback actuator (20) through the manual lock drive to hold the manual lock drive in position.
(d) Extend the locking feedback actuator:
CAUTION:
DO NOT APPLY A TORQUE OF MORE THAN 70 LBF-IN (0.79 m.daN) WHEN YOU ADJUST THE ACTUATOR. TOO MUCH TORQUE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ACTUATOR.
1 Carefully extend the right locking feedback actuator (20) to the length that you recorded when you removed the right locking feedback actuator (20). Use the DRIVE 0.2 IN - SQUARE and the WRENCH - TORQUE. (e) Install the COVER - PROTECTION back on the right locking feedback actuator (20).
(2) Put the actuator seal (38) on the right locking feedback actuator (20). Move the actuator seal (38) to the base of the right locking feedback actuator (20).
(3) Make sure the metal plate of the seal is touching the actuator seal backing plate.
(4) Put the right locking feedback actuator (20) in position on the thrust reverser.
(a) Carefully put the right locking feedback actuator (20) through the TRAS fitting.
(b) Turn the right locking feedback actuator (20) approximately 90 degrees until the rod end of the right locking feedback actuator (20) can fit through the cascade ring bumper.
(c) Turn the right locking feedback actuator (20) back 90 degrees when the locking feedback actuator (20) rod end is through the cascade ring bumper.
(d) Put the right locking feedback actuator in position:
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE ACTUATOR ROD END ALIGNS WITH THE TRANSLATING SLEEVE ACTUATOR FITTING. DO NOT USE FORCE TO PUT THE ACTUATOR ROD END INTO POSITION. IF YOU DO NOT OBETY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
1 Carefully move the right locking feedback actuator (20) aft until the right locking feedback actuator (20) rod end aligns with the translating sleeve actuator fitting. (5) Apply a thin layer of braycote 868 anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) to the two gimbal pins (34).
(6) Have one person push the right locking feedback actuator (20) against the TRAS fitting and compress the actuator seal (38). Have a second person install the gimbal pins (34) in the TRAS fitting and right locking feedback actuator (20).
(7) Safety the gimbal pins (34) with two gimbal pin retainers (35), the four bolts (37) and four washers (38).
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT YOU APPLY THE CORRECT TORQUE RANGE ON THE BOLTS. AN INCORRECT TORQUE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ACTUATOR AND/OR CAUSE THE ACTUATOR TO OPERATE INCORRECTLY.
(8) TORQUE the bolts (37) to between 90 and 81 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.92 m.daN )
.(9) Apply a thin layer of braycote 868 anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) to the threads of the bolt (21).
(10) Attach the right locking feedback actuator (1) to the translating sleeve fitting with the bolt (21) and bushing (22).
(11) TORQUE the bolt (21) to between 420 and 370 lbf.in (4.75 and 4.18 m.daN )
. (12) Attach the grounding strap (28) to the right locking feedback actuator (20).
(a) Clean the surface where the grounding strap (28) attaches to the right locking feedback actuator (20) with a clean
(b) Dry the surfaces with a dry clean
(c) Attach the grounding strap (28) to the right locking feedback actuator (20) with the bolt (29) and washers (30) and (31).
(d) TORQUE the bolt (29) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN )
. (e) Measure the resistance between the grounding strap (28) lug and the upper torque box with a MILLIOHMMETER - STANDARD. Make sure the resistance is 0.0100 ohms or less.
(f) If the resistance is more than 0.0100 ohms, remove the bolt (29) and washers (30) and (31) and do step 4.B.(12)(a) thru 4.B.(12)(f) again.
(13) Remove the COVER - PROTECTION from the right locking feedback actuator (20), deploy tube and flexible drive shaft, right return hose, right deploy hose, right stow hose, right stow tube and right return tube.
(14) Connect the right return hose, right deploy hose and right stow hose to the right locking feedback actuator (20) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-50-400-801).
(15) Install the right stow tube and right return tube to the right locking feedback actuator (20) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-50-400-801).
(16) If you removed the clamps and hardware on the hydraulic tubes, install the clamps and hardware back on the hydraulic tubs and torque box (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-50-400-801).
(17) Connect the flexible drive shaft and deploy tube to the right locking feedback actuator (20) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-07-400-801).
(18) If you removed the clamps, clamp assemblies and hardware on the deploy tube, install the clamps, clamp assemblies and hardware back on the deploy tube and torque box (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-50-400-801).
(19) Connection of the electrical connectors:
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR AND RECEPTACLE ARE CLEAN WHEN YOU CONNECT THEM. DIRTY CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION:
USE PLIERS THAT HAVE TEFLON JAWS TO TIGHTEN THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. DO NOT USE PLIERS THAT HAVE METAL JAWS. METAL JAWS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS.
(a) Connect the right TRAS monitoring harness (4004KS-A), (4033KS-A) and (4041KS-A) to the right locking feedback actuator (20) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-61-400-812). (b) Tighten the connectors with your fingers. Then tighten the connectors 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn more with PLIERS - CONNECTOR, JAW, SOFT.
(20) Attach the right TRAS monitoring harness and the two actuator brackets to the right locking feedback actuator (20). Use the two bolts (23) and two washers (24).
(21) TORQUE the bolts (23) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN )
. (22) Retract the right translating sleeve as follows:
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT BOTH THE LOCKING ACTUATOR AND LOCKING FEEDBACK ACTUATOR LOCK WHEN YOU RETRACT THE TRANSLATING SLEEVE. IF ONE OR BOTH ACTUATORS DO NOT LOCK, THE ACTUATION SYSTEM IS NOT CORRECTLY SYNCHRONIZED.
(a) Manually retract the right translating sleeve (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-860-803). (23) If one or both the right locking actuator and right locking feedback actuator (20) do not lock when you retract the translating sleeve, do as follows:
