WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

E. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the left thrust reverser cowl-doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position.
4. Procedure
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 78-31-61-420-061-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Left TRAS Monitoring Harness
   (1) Mix the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803), PU4-0004Acuring solution, epoxy primer and thinner (Material No.PU4-0005) . Refer to the instructions of the manufacturer.
   (2) Attach the left TRAS monitoring harness (1) (4052VC) and (4053VC) connectors to the torque box disconnect panel. Use the eight screws (2) and the eight washers (3). Wet install the screws (2) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture.
     (a) Tighten the eight screws (2) with your hand. Then tighten the screws (2) 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn more.
   (3) Connection of the pylon harness:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR AND RECEPTACLE ARE CLEAN WHEN YOU CONNECT THEM. DIRTY CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: USE TEFLON-JAWED PLIERS TO LOOSEN/TIGHTEN ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. DO NOT USE METAL-JAWED PLIERS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN OCCUR.
     (a) Connect the pylon harness (4052VC-A) and (4053VC-A) connectors to the left TRAS monitoring harness (1).
     (b) Tighten the connectors finger-tight. Turn the connectors 1/4 of a turn more with PLIERS - CONNECTOR, JAW, SOFT.
   (4) Connection of the left TRAS monitoring harness:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR AND RECEPTACLE ARE CLEAN WHEN YOU CONNECT THEM. DIRTY CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: USE TEFLON-JAWED PLIERS TO LOOSEN/TIGHTEN ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. DO NOT USE METAL-JAWED PLIERS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN OCCUR.
     (a) Connect the left TRAS monitoring harness (1) (4003KS-A), (4032KS-A) and (4040KS-A) connectors to the feedback locking actuator.
     (b) Tighten the connectors finger-tight. Turn the connectors 1/4 of a turn more with PLIERS - CONNECTOR, JAW, SOFT.
   (5) Attach the actuator bracket (7) to the feedback locking actuator with the two bolts (6) and the two washers (5). Wet install the bolts (6) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture.
     (a) TORQUE the two bolts (6) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN ) T.
   (6) Put the two clamps (4) on the left TRAS monitoring harness (1).
   (7) Attach the left TRAS monitoring harness (1) and the two clamps (4) to the actuator bracket (7). Use the two bolts (6) and the two washers (5). Wet install the bolts (6) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (
Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture.
NOTE: Do not torque the bolts (6) at this time.
   (8) Put the clamp (10) on the TRAS monitoring harness (1).
   (9) Remove the bolt (8), washer (9) and the left track lock harness clamp.
   (10) Clean the faying surface with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) moistened with PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Do not allow the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl to dry on surface, wipe with clean dry lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl dries.
   (11) Look at the surface of the torque box where you will install the clamp (10). Make sure the surface has a layer of paint and you can see no bare metal. If part of the surface is without paint, apply a layer of the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture to the surface.
   (12) Attach the left TRAS monitoring harness (1), the clamp (10), left track lock harness clamp and the left track lock harness on the torque box using the bolt (8) and washer (9). Put the left track lock harness clamp on top of the clamp (10). Wet install the bolts (8) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture.
NOTE: Do not torque the bolt (8) at this time.
   (13) Put the clamp (13) on the left TRAS monitoring harness.
   (14) Clean the faying surface with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) moistened with PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Do not allow the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl to dry on surface, wipe with clean dry lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl dries.
   (15) Look at the surface of the torque box where you will install the clamp (13). Make sure the surface has a layer of paint and you can see no bare metal. If part of the surface is without paint, apply a layer of the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture to the surface.
   (16) Attach the left TRAS monitoring harness (1) and the clamp (13) on the torque box. Use the bolt (11) and washer (12). Wet install the bolt (11) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture.
NOTE: Do not torque the bolt (11) at this time.
   (17) Put the clamp (16) on the left TRAS monitoring harness.
   (18) Clean the faying surface with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) moistened with PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Do not allow the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl to dry on surface, wipe with clean dry lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl dries.
   (19) Look at the surface of the torque box where you will install the clamp (16). Make sure the surface has a layer of paint and you can see no bare metal. If part of the surface is without paint, apply a layer of the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture to the surface.
   (20) Attach the left TRAS monitoring harness (1) and the clamp (16) on the torque box. Use the bolt (14) and washer (15). Wet install the bolt (14) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture.
NOTE: Do not torque the bolt (14) at this time.
   (21) Put the two clamps (19) on the left TRAS monitoring harness (1).
   (22) Remove the two bolts (17), two washers (18) and two left track lock harness clamps.
   (23) Clean the faying surface with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) moistened with PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Do not allow the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl to dry lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) on surface, wipe with clean dry before the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl dries.
   (24) Look at the surfaces of the torque box where you will install the clamps (19). Make sure the surfaces have a layer of paint and you can see no bare metal. If part of the surface is without paint, apply a layer of the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture to the surface.
   (25) Attach the left TRAS monitoring harness (1), the two clamps (19), the two left track lock harness clamps and the left track lock harness on the torque box using the two bolts (17) and the two washers (18). Put the two left track lock harness clamps on top of the two clamps (19). Wet install the bolts (17) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture.
NOTE: Do not torque the bolts (17) at this time.
   (26) Put the six clamps (22) on the left TRAS monitoring harness (1).
   (27) Remove the six bolts (20), six washers (21) and six left track lock harness clamps.
   (28) Attach the left TRAS monitoring harness (1), the six clamps (22), the six clamps and the left track lock harness on the torque box. Use the six bolts (20) and the six washers (21). Put the six left track lock harness clamps on top of the six clamps (22). Wet install the bolts (22) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture.
NOTE: Do not torque the bolt (20) at this time.
   (29) Put the four clamps (25) on the left TRAS monitoring harness (1).
   (30) Remove the four nuts (23) and the four washers (24) from the four clamps and the left track lock harness.
   (31) Attach the left TRAS monitoring harness (1), the four clamps (25), the four left track lock harness clamps and the left track lock harness on the supports on the torque box. Use the four nuts (23) and the four washers (24). Put the four clamps (25) on top of the four clamps washers. Wet install the nuts (23) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture.
NOTE: Do not torque the nuts (23) at this time.
   (32) Put the clamp (28) on the left TRAS monitoring harness (1).
   (33) Remove the bolt (26), washer (27) and left track lock harness clamp.
   (34) Clean the faying surface with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) moistened with PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Do not allow the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl to dry on surface, wipe with clean dry lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl dries.
   (35) Look at the surface of the torque box where you will install the clamp on the left track lock harness. Make sure the surface has a layer of paint and you can see no bare metal. If part of the surface is without paint, apply a layer of the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture to the surface.
   (36) Attach the left TRAS monitoring harness (1), the clamp (28), the left track lock harness clamp and left track lock harness on the torque box. Use the bolt (26) and washer (27). Put the clamp (28) on top of the left track lock harness clamp. Wet install the bolt (26) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture.
NOTE: Do not torque the bolt (26) at this time.
   (37) Connection of the left TRAS monitoring harness:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR AND RECEPTACLE ARE CLEAN WHEN YOU CONNECT THEM. DIRTY CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: USE TEFLON-JAWED PLIERS TO LOOSEN/TIGHTEN ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. DO NOT USE METAL-JAWED PLIERS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN OCCUR.
     (a) Connect the left TRAS monitoring harness (1) (4034KS-A) and (4042KS-A) connectors to the locking actuator.
     (b) Tighten the connectors finger-tight. Turn the connectors 1/4 of a turn more with PLIERS - CONNECTOR, JAW, SOFT.
   (38) Put the left TRAS monitoring harness (1) through the bulkheads of the latch beam.
   (39) Put the three grommets (41) and the two grommets (42) on the left TRAS monitoring harness (1).
   (40) Attach the left TRAS monitoring harness (1) to the bulkheads of the latch beam with the three grommets (41) and the two grommets (42).
   (41) Connection of the left TRAS monitoring harness:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR AND RECEPTACLE ARE CLEAN WHEN YOU CONNECT THEM. DIRTY CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: USE TEFLON-JAWED PLIERS TO LOOSEN/TIGHTEN ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. DO NOT USE METAL-JAWED PLIERS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN OCCUR.
     (a) Connect the left TRAS monitoring harness (1) (4038KS-A) and (4046KS-A) connectors to the track lock.
     (b) Turn the connectors finger-tight. Turn the connectors 1/4 of a turn more with PLIERS - CONNECTOR, JAW, SOFT.
   (42) Wind a tape (Material No.PU1-0012) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) around the left TRAS monitoring harness (1) as necessary to make a snug fit in the two spring clips.
   (43) Put the left TRAS monitoring harness (1) in the two spring clips.
   (44) Put the two clamps (40) on the left TRAS monitoring harness (1).
   (45) Clean the faying surface with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) moistened with PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Do not allow the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl to dry on surface, wipe with clean dry lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl dries.
   (46) Look at the surfaces of the torque box where you will install the clamps (40). Make sure the surfaces has a layer of paint and you can see no bare metal. If part of the surface is without paint, apply a layer of the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture to the surface.
   (47) Attach the left TRAS monitoring harness (1) and the two clamps (40) to the latch beam. Use the two bolts (38) and the two washers (39). Wet install the bolts (38) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture.
NOTE: Do not torque the bolts (38) at this time.
   (48) Put the clamp (37) on the left TRAS monitoring harness (1).
   (49) Remove the bolt (35) and washer (36) and the left track lock harness clamp.
   (50) Attach the TRAS monitoring harness (1), the clamp (37), the left track lock harness clamp and the left track lock harness to the torque box. Use the bolt (35) and washer (36). Put the clamp (37) on top of the left track lock harness clamp. Wet install the bolt (35) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture.
NOTE: Do not torque the bolt (35) at this time.
   (50) Put the clamp (34) on the left TRAS monitoring harness (1).
   (51) Clean the faying surface with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) moistened with PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Do not allow the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl to dry on surface, wipe with clean dry lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl dries.
   (52) Look at the surface of the torque box where you will install the clamp (34). Make sure the surface has a layer of paint and you can see no bare metal. If part of the surface is without paint, apply a layer of the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture to the surface.
   (53) Attach the left TRAS monitoring harness (1) and the clamp (34) to the torque box. Use the bolt (32) and washer (33). Wet install the bolt (32) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture.
NOTE: Do not torque the bolt (32) at this time.
   (54) Put the clamp (31) on the left TRAS monitoring harness (1).
   (55) Remove the bolt (29), washer (30) and the left track lock harness clamp.
   (56) Clean the faying surface with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) moistened with PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Do not allow the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl to dry on surface, wipe with clean dry lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl dries.
   (57) Look at the surface of the torque box where you will install the clamp (31). Make sure the surface has a layer of paint and you can see no bare metal. If part of the surface is without paint, apply a layer of the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture to the surface.
   (58) Attach the left TRAS monitoring harness (1) and the clamp (31), the left track lock harness clamp and the left track lock harness to the torque box. Use the bolt (29) and washer (30). Put the left track lock harness clamp on top of the clamp (31). Wet install the bolt (29) with the PU4-0002epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture.
NOTE: Do not torque the bolt (29) at this time.
   (59) Adjust the left TRAS monitoring harness (1) to keep the preload to a minimum. Make sure that there are no kinks in the left TRAS monitoring harness (1).
   (60) Tighten the nuts and bolts.
     (a) TORQUE the bolts (6), (8), (11), (14), (17), (20), (26), (29), (32), (35) and (38) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN ) T.
     (b) TORQUE the nuts (23) to between 27 and 24 lbf.in (0.31 and 0.27 m.daN )
T.
   (61) Install the track lock cover (
Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-38-400-801).

B. Installation of the Blankets
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the left aft latch beam blanket and the left forward latch beam blanket on the inner fixed structure of the left thrust reverser (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-41-400-803).

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.

   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (4) Make sure that all the circuit breakers shown in the paragraph Procedure of the engine interface unit installation are closed. If they are not, close them in the recommended sequence
