A. Installation of the Sense Line between the Pylon Interface and the Fan Air-Valve Actuator
NOTE: To install sense line (3), you have to install the sense line (5) in the pylon first.
   (1) If you use the APU to energize the electrical circuits, stop the APU:
   (2) In the cockpit, on the SD bleed page:
     (a) Make sure that the pressure and the temperature of the bleed-air duct system are in ambient conditions.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM IS DEPRESSURIZED BEFORE YOU START WORK. PRESSURIZED AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE UNIT UNTIL IT IS SUFFICIENTLY COOL TO PREVENT BURNS WHEN YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE TASK(S).
   (3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (4) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (5) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
   (6) Remove the PLUG - BLANKING from the port of the fan air-valve actuator (10).
   (7) Put the sense line (5) in the correct position between the fan air-valve actuator (10) and the pylon interface (6).
   (8) Connect the sense line (5) with the union nut (9) to the fan air-valve actuator (10). Do not torque the union nut (9) at this time.
   (9) Install the clamp (12) with the sense line (5) on the support (11) as follows:
     (a) Make sure that you install the protective parts with the clamp (12).
     (b) Install the two washers (13) and the bolts (14) in the clamp (12).
     (c) Tighten the two bolts (14).
WARNING: TIGHTEN THE UNION(S) TO THE CORRECT TORQUE VALUE. IF YOU DO NOT TIGHTEN THEM SUFFICIENTLY, HOT AIR LEAKAGE CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: USE A SECOND WRENCH TO APPLY COUNTERTORQUE TO THE UNION WHEN YOU DISCONNECT/CONNECT THE PNEUMATIC LINES ON UNIONS.
   (10) TORQUE the union nut (9) of the sense line (5) to between 1.7 and 1.5 m.daN (12.54 and 11.06 lbf.ft ) T.
     (a) Identify the tightened union nut (9) of the sense line (5) with a red line (

  • Leaks are not permitted if the air pressure (from the air source) blows the soap solution off the joint line and prevents a continuous series of bubbles.
     (b) Aluminum foil procedure.
NOTE: This procedure is recommended when you do a leak check with hot air.
1 Wind the FOIL - ALUMINUM on the joint once.
2 Twist tight the seam of the foil wrap.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
3 Make the foil wrap as tight as possible on the tube but do not rip the wrap.
4 Attach the foil wrap at the two sides of the pneumatic joint with 14QEB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.6 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
