A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002) or (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) In the cockpit, on AIR COND panel 30VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG 1(2) BLEED pushbutton switch is released (the OFF legend is on).
(b) Make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off).
(c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the pneumatic system.
(3) Make sure that you did the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).
(4) On the HP ground connector:
(a) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to pressurize the pneumatic system.
Subtask 36-11-49-865-196-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002) or (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) In the cockpit, on AIR COND panel 30VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG 1(2) BLEED pushbutton switch is released (the OFF legend is on).
(b) Make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off).

(3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position below the fan cowl doors.
(4) Make sure that the ECS ducts are installed (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-49-400-822).
(5) Make sure that the Pressure Regulating Valve (PRV) is installed (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-52-400-802).
(6) Make sure that the High Pressure Valve (HPV) is installed (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-51-400-802).
(7) Make sure that the Intermediate Pressure Check Valve (IPCV) is installed (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-41-400-802).

(6) Make sure that the High Pressure Valve (HPV) is installed (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-51-400-802).
(7) Make sure that the Intermediate Pressure Check Valve (IPCV) is installed (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-41-400-802).
D. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Ground Maintenance
4. ProcedureWARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). Subtask 36-11-49-420-139-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the ECS Sense Lines
(1) If you use the APU to energize the electrical circuits, stop the APU:
(a) Make sure that the pressure and the temperature of the bleed-air duct system are in ambient conditions.
(4) Make sure that you clean all parts and tools as necessary to remove unwanted debris and prevent damage to the engine and adjacent to the components.
(5) If you removed the union (11), install the union (11) of the ECS starter duct:
(a) Apply a layer of anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) or Royco 81 MS Anti-Seize Compound (Material No.PU5-0005A) or PT 605 Anti-Seize Compound (Material No.PU5-0005B) to the threads of the union (11) and the nut (13).
(b) Attach the union (11) to the bracket of the ECS starter duct with the washer (12) and the nut (13).
(c) Put the washer (12) and the nut (13) on the inboard side of the bracket on the ECS duct.
(d) Hold the union (11) with a WRENCH - STANDARD.
(e) TORQUE the nut (13) to between 150 and 140 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.58 m.daN )
.
(6) Install the Pressure Regulating Valve (PRV) muscle sense tube (4) as follows:
(a) Remove the COVER - PROTECTION from the ECS starter duct fitting,the PRV fitting and the PRV muscle sense tube (4) coupling nuts.
(c) Loosely connect the PRV muscle sense tube (4) to the ECS starter duct and the PRV.Do not torque the coupling nuts of the PRV muscle sense tube (4) at this time.
(7) Install the High Pressure Valve (HPV) muscle sense tube (3) as follows:
(a) Remove the COVER - PROTECTION from the fitting of the ECS mid-Y duct, the fitting of the HPV and the HPV muscle sense tube (3) coupling nuts.
(c) Loosely connect the HPV muscle sense tube (3) to the ECS mid- Y duct and the HPV. Do not torque the HPV muscle sense tube (3) coupling nuts at this time.
(8) Install the HPV pylon sense tube (2) as follows:
(a) Remove the COVER - PROTECTION from the ECS mid-Y duct fitting and the HPV pylon sense tube (2) coupling nuts. If necessary, remove the COVER - PROTECTION from the union (11) of the ECS starter duct.
(c) Loosely connect the HPV pylon sense tube (2) to the union (11) of the ECS starter duct and the ECS mid-Y duct. Do not torque the HPV pylon sense tube (2) coupling nuts at this time.
(9) Adjust the PRV muscle sense tube (4), the HPV muscle sense tube (3) and the HPV pylon sense tube (2):
(a) Examine the PRV muscle sense tube (4), the HPV muscle sense tube (3) and the HPV pylon sense tube (2). Make sure that there is no preload on these tubes.
(b) If you find preload on these tubes, remove the preload:
1 Loosen the V-band couplings of the HPV and the PRV.
2 Adjust the position of the HPV and the PRV until there is no preload.
3 Tighten the V-band couplings of the HPV and the PRV (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-51-400-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-52-400-802).
(10) Tighten the tube coupling nuts:
(b) TORQUE the coupling nuts of the PRV muscle sense tube (4) to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
.
(c) TORQUE the coupling nuts of the HPV muscle sense tube (3) to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
.
(d) TORQUE the coupling nuts of the HPV pylon sense tube (2) to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
.
(11) Install the pylon sense hose (1):
(a) Remove the COVER - PROTECTION from the pylon fitting and the coupling nuts of the pylon sense hose (1). If necessary, remove the COVER - PROTECTION from the union (11) of the ECS starter duct.
(c) Connect the pylon sense hose (1) to the pylon fitting and the union (11) of the ECS starter duct. Do not torque the coupling nuts of the pylon sense hose (1) at this time.
(d) Adjust the sense hose (1) so that it is at an angle between 35 deg. and 45 deg. counterclockwise from the horizontal, see view D of the figure.
(e) Adjust the pylon sense hose (1) to remove the preload. Make sure that the pylon sense hose (1) does not twist.
(f) Torque the coupling:
.
2 TORQUE the coupling of the pylon sense hose (1) attached to the union (11)
to between 250 and 210 lbf.in (2.83 and 2.37 m.daN )
.
(12) Install the pylon sense hose (5):
(a) Remove the COVER - PROTECTION from the pylon fitting, the fitting of the ECS starter duct and the coupling nuts of the pylon sense hose (5).
(c) Connect the pylon sense hose (5) to the pylon fitting and the ECS starter duct fitting. Do not torque the pylon sense hose (5) coupling nut at this time.
(d) Adjust the coupling of the pylon sense hose (5) so that it is at an angle between 126 deg. and 136 deg. clockwise from the horizontal, see view D of the figure.
(e) Adjust the pylon sense hose (5) to remove the preload. Make sure that the pylon sense hose (5) does not twist.
(f) Torque the coupling nuts:

2 TORQUE the coupling nut of the pylon sense hose (5) attached to the fitting of the ECS starter duct to between 180 and 155 lbf.in (2.03 and 1.75 m.daN )
.
(13) Attach the pylon sense hose (1) and the pylon sense hose (5) together:
(a) Put the clamp (8) of the pylon sense hose (1) between 3.23 in. (82.04 mm) and 3.73 in. (94.74 mm) from the edge of the bracket of the ECS starter duct.
(b) Put the clamp (9) of the pylon sense hose (5).
(c) Apply a layer of Never-Seez Pure Nickel Special (Material No.PU5-0003) to the threads of the nut (10).
(d) Attach the clamp (8) of the pylon sense hose (1) to the clamp (9) of the pylon sense hose (5) with the bolt (6), the washers (7), and the nut (10). Make sure that the edge of the clamps (8) and (9) are between 3.23 in. (82.04 mm) and 3.73 in. (94.74 mm) from the edge of the bracket of the ECS starter duct.
(e) TORQUE the nut (10) of the two clamps (8) and (9) to between 27 and 23 lbf.in (0.31 and 0.26 m.daN )

Subtask 36-11-49-865-197-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) If you use the APU to energize the electrical circuits, stop the APU:
- For GTCP 36-300 APU (Ref. AMM D/O 49-00-00-86)
- For APS 3200 APU (Ref. AMM D/O 49-00-00-86)
- For 131-9(A) APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-009).
(a) Make sure that the pressure and the temperature of the bleed-air duct system are in ambient conditions.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM IS DEPRESSURIZED BEFORE YOU START WORK. PRESSURIZED AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
WARNING:
DO NOT TOUCH THE UNIT UNTIL IT IS SUFFICIENTLY COOL TO PREVENT BURNS WHEN YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE TASK(S).
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION:
REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
(3) Make sure that you remove and install the protection covers as necessary to prevent damage to the engine and to the adjacent components. (4) Make sure that you clean all parts and tools as necessary to remove unwanted debris and prevent damage to the engine and adjacent to the components.
(5) If you removed the union (11), install the union (11) of the ECS starter duct:
(a) Apply a layer of anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) or Royco 81 MS Anti-Seize Compound (Material No.PU5-0005A) or PT 605 Anti-Seize Compound (Material No.PU5-0005B) to the threads of the union (11) and the nut (13).
(b) Attach the union (11) to the bracket of the ECS starter duct with the washer (12) and the nut (13).
(c) Put the washer (12) and the nut (13) on the inboard side of the bracket on the ECS duct.
(d) Hold the union (11) with a WRENCH - STANDARD.
(e) TORQUE the nut (13) to between 150 and 140 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.58 m.daN )
. (6) Install the Pressure Regulating Valve (PRV) muscle sense tube (4) as follows:
(a) Remove the COVER - PROTECTION from the ECS starter duct fitting,the PRV fitting and the PRV muscle sense tube (4) coupling nuts.
CAUTION:
APPLY THE ANTI-SEIZE COMPOUND TO ALL THE THREADS OF THE SENSE TUBE FITTING AND TO ALL THE THREADS OF THE MATING FITTING. MAKE SURE THAT THE ANTI-SEIZE COMPOUND DOES NOT GO INTO THE SENSE LINES. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, YOU CAN CAUSE INCORRECT OPERATION OF THE ECS.
(b) Apply a layer of anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) or Royco 81 MS Anti-Seize Compound (Material No.PU5-0005A) or PT 605 Anti-Seize Compound (Material No.PU5-0005B) to the threads of the PRV muscle sense tube (4) coupling nuts and the mating fittings. (c) Loosely connect the PRV muscle sense tube (4) to the ECS starter duct and the PRV.Do not torque the coupling nuts of the PRV muscle sense tube (4) at this time.
(7) Install the High Pressure Valve (HPV) muscle sense tube (3) as follows:
(a) Remove the COVER - PROTECTION from the fitting of the ECS mid-Y duct, the fitting of the HPV and the HPV muscle sense tube (3) coupling nuts.
CAUTION:
APPLY THE ANTI-SEIZE COMPOUND TO ALL THE THREADS OF THE SENSE TUBE FITTING AND TO ALL THE THREADS OF THE MATING FITTING. MAKE SURE THAT THE ANTI-SEIZE COMPOUND DOES NOT GO INTO THE SENSE LINES. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, YOU CAN CAUSE INCORRECT OPERATION OF THE ECS.
(b) Apply a layer of anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) or Royco 81 MS Anti-Seize Compound (Material No.PU5-0005A) or PT 605 Anti-Seize Compound (Material No.PU5-0005B) to the threads of the HPV muscle sense tube (3) coupling nuts and the mating fittings. (c) Loosely connect the HPV muscle sense tube (3) to the ECS mid- Y duct and the HPV. Do not torque the HPV muscle sense tube (3) coupling nuts at this time.
(8) Install the HPV pylon sense tube (2) as follows:
(a) Remove the COVER - PROTECTION from the ECS mid-Y duct fitting and the HPV pylon sense tube (2) coupling nuts. If necessary, remove the COVER - PROTECTION from the union (11) of the ECS starter duct.
CAUTION:
APPLY THE ANTI-SEIZE COMPOUND TO ALL THE THREADS OF THE SENSE TUBE FITTING AND TO ALL THE THREADS OF THE MATING FITTING. MAKE SURE THAT THE ANTI-SEIZE COMPOUND DOES NOT GO INTO THE SENSE LINES. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, YOU CAN CAUSE INCORRECT OPERATION OF THE ECS.
(b) Apply a layer of anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) or Royco 81 MS Anti-Seize Compound (Material No.PU5-0005A) or PT 605 Anti-Seize Compound (Material No.PU5-0005B) to the threads of the HPV pylon sense tube (2) coupling nuts and the mating fittings. (c) Loosely connect the HPV pylon sense tube (2) to the union (11) of the ECS starter duct and the ECS mid-Y duct. Do not torque the HPV pylon sense tube (2) coupling nuts at this time.
(9) Adjust the PRV muscle sense tube (4), the HPV muscle sense tube (3) and the HPV pylon sense tube (2):
(a) Examine the PRV muscle sense tube (4), the HPV muscle sense tube (3) and the HPV pylon sense tube (2). Make sure that there is no preload on these tubes.
(b) If you find preload on these tubes, remove the preload:
1 Loosen the V-band couplings of the HPV and the PRV.
2 Adjust the position of the HPV and the PRV until there is no preload.
3 Tighten the V-band couplings of the HPV and the PRV (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-51-400-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-52-400-802).
(10) Tighten the tube coupling nuts:
CAUTION:
USE A SECOND WRENCH TO HOLD THE MATING PARTS WHEN YOU LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE TUBE OR HOSE NUTS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, YOU CAN TWIST THE TUBES OR HOSES OR CAUSE DAMAGE TO THEM.
(a) Tighten the PRV muscle sense tube (4), the HPV muscle sense tube (3) and the HPV pylon sense tube (2) coupling nuts. (b) TORQUE the coupling nuts of the PRV muscle sense tube (4) to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
. (c) TORQUE the coupling nuts of the HPV muscle sense tube (3) to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
. (d) TORQUE the coupling nuts of the HPV pylon sense tube (2) to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
. (11) Install the pylon sense hose (1):
(a) Remove the COVER - PROTECTION from the pylon fitting and the coupling nuts of the pylon sense hose (1). If necessary, remove the COVER - PROTECTION from the union (11) of the ECS starter duct.
CAUTION:
APPLY THE ANTI-SEIZE COMPOUND TO ALL THE THREADS OF THE SENSE TUBE FITTING AND TO ALL THE THREADS OF THE MATING FITTING. MAKE SURE THAT THE ANTI-SEIZE COMPOUND DOES NOT GO INTO THE SENSE LINES. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, YOU CAN CAUSE INCORRECT OPERATION OF THE ECS.
(b) Apply a layer of anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) or Royco 81 MS Anti-Seize Compound (Material No.PU5-0005A) or PT 605 Anti-Seize Compound (Material No.PU5-0005B) to the threads of the pylon sense hose (1) coupling nuts and the mating fittings. (c) Connect the pylon sense hose (1) to the pylon fitting and the union (11) of the ECS starter duct. Do not torque the coupling nuts of the pylon sense hose (1) at this time.
(d) Adjust the sense hose (1) so that it is at an angle between 35 deg. and 45 deg. counterclockwise from the horizontal, see view D of the figure.
(e) Adjust the pylon sense hose (1) to remove the preload. Make sure that the pylon sense hose (1) does not twist.
(f) Torque the coupling:
CAUTION:
USE A SECOND WRENCH TO HOLD THE MATING PARTS WHEN YOU LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE TUBE OR HOSE NUTS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS CAUTION, YOU CAN TWIST OR CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TUBES OR HOSES.
1 TORQUE the coupling nut of the pylon sense hose (1) attached to the pylon fitting to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
. 2 TORQUE the coupling of the pylon sense hose (1) attached to the union (11)
to between 250 and 210 lbf.in (2.83 and 2.37 m.daN )
. (12) Install the pylon sense hose (5):
(a) Remove the COVER - PROTECTION from the pylon fitting, the fitting of the ECS starter duct and the coupling nuts of the pylon sense hose (5).
CAUTION:
APPLY THE ANTI-SEIZE COMPOUND TO ALL THE THREADS OF THE SENSE TUBE FITTING AND TO ALL THE THREADS OF THE MATING FITTING. MAKE SURE THAT THE ANTI-SEIZE COMPOUND DOES NOT GO INTO THE SENSE LINES. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, YOU CAN CAUSE INCORRECT OPERATION OF THE ECS.
(b) Apply a layer of anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) or Royco 81 MS Anti-Seize Compound (Material No.PU5-0005A) or PT 605 Anti-Seize Compound (Material No.PU5-0005B) to the threads of the two coupling nuts of the pylon sense hose (5) and the mating fittings. (c) Connect the pylon sense hose (5) to the pylon fitting and the ECS starter duct fitting. Do not torque the pylon sense hose (5) coupling nut at this time.
(d) Adjust the coupling of the pylon sense hose (5) so that it is at an angle between 126 deg. and 136 deg. clockwise from the horizontal, see view D of the figure.
(e) Adjust the pylon sense hose (5) to remove the preload. Make sure that the pylon sense hose (5) does not twist.
(f) Torque the coupling nuts:
CAUTION:
USE A SECOND WRENCH TO HOLD THE MATING PARTS WHEN YOU LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE TUBE OR HOSE NUTS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS CAUTION, YOU CAN TWIST OR CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TUBES OR HOSES.
1 TORQUE the coupling nut of the pylon sense hose (5) attached to the pylon fitting to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
. 2 TORQUE the coupling nut of the pylon sense hose (5) attached to the fitting of the ECS starter duct to between 180 and 155 lbf.in (2.03 and 1.75 m.daN )
. (13) Attach the pylon sense hose (1) and the pylon sense hose (5) together:
(a) Put the clamp (8) of the pylon sense hose (1) between 3.23 in. (82.04 mm) and 3.73 in. (94.74 mm) from the edge of the bracket of the ECS starter duct.
(b) Put the clamp (9) of the pylon sense hose (5).
(c) Apply a layer of Never-Seez Pure Nickel Special (Material No.PU5-0003) to the threads of the nut (10).
(d) Attach the clamp (8) of the pylon sense hose (1) to the clamp (9) of the pylon sense hose (5) with the bolt (6), the washers (7), and the nut (10). Make sure that the edge of the clamps (8) and (9) are between 3.23 in. (82.04 mm) and 3.73 in. (94.74 mm) from the edge of the bracket of the ECS starter duct.
(e) TORQUE the nut (10) of the two clamps (8) and (9) to between 27 and 23 lbf.in (0.31 and 0.26 m.daN )
. B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):
