A. Installation of the ECS Mid-Y Duct and the IPCV
   (1) If you use the APU to energize the electrical circuits, stop the APU:
   (2) In the cockpit, on the SD bleed page:
     (a) Make sure that the pressure and the temperature of the bleed-air duct system are in ambient conditions.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM IS DEPRESSURIZED BEFORE YOU START WORK. PRESSURIZED AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE UNIT UNTIL IT IS SUFFICIENTLY COOL TO PREVENT BURNS WHEN YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE TASK(S).
CAUTION: REMOVE AND INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE AND ADJACENT COMPONENTS.
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
CAUTION: USE A SECOND WRENCH TO HOLD THE MATING PARTS WHEN YOU LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE TUBE OR HOSE NUTS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, YOU CAN TWIST THE TUBES OR HOSES OR CAUSE DAMAGE TO THEM.
   (3) Install the IPCV (14) and the mid-Y duct (11) as follows:
NOTE: Two persons are necessary for this procedure.
     (a) Remove the COVER - PROTECTION from:
  • The Pressure Regulating Valve (PRV)
  • The High Pressure Valve (HPV)
  • The LP duct
  • The mid-Y duct (11)

     (c) Install the IPCV (14) on the mid-Y duct (11):
1 Make sure that the new seal (13) is between the IPCV (14) and the mid-Y duct (11).
2 Make sure that the visualization tab on the IPCV (14) is in the position.
     (d) Install the new
AIPC 36-11-86-20-270 SEAL (13) in the mid-Y duct (11) and the IPCV (14).
     (e) Move the LP duct and the starter duct a small distance to get clearance. Put the mid-Y duct (11) and the IPCV (14) in position between the LP duct, the PRV and the HPV.
CAUTION: APPLY THE ANTI-SEIZE COMPOUND TO ALL THE THREADS OF THE SENSE TUBE FITTING AND TO ALL THE THREADS OF THE MATING FITTING. MAKE SURE THAT THE ANTI-SEIZE COMPOUND DOES NOT GO INTO THE SENSE LINES. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, YOU CAN CAUSE INCORRECT OPERATION OF THE ECS.
     (f) Apply anti-seize compound (Material No.
PU5-0005) or Royco 81 MS Anti-Seize Compound (Material No.PU5-0005A) or PT 605 Anti-Seize Compound (Material No.PU5-0005B) to the threads of the fittings of the pylon HPV sense-tube (1), PRV muscle sense-tube (4), HPV muscle sense-tube (3) and mid-Y duct (11) (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-49-400-823).
     (g) Loosely connect the pylon HPV sense-tube (1) to the mid-Y duct (11). Do not torque the tube fitting at this time.
     (h) Loosely connect the HPV muscle sense-tube (3) to the mid-Y duct (11). Do not torque the tube fitting at this time.
     (i) Loosely connect the PRV muscle sense-tube (4) to the starter duct. Do not torque the tube fitting at this time.
     (j) Install the V-band couplings (12) on the mid-Y duct (11), IPCV (14), LP duct, PRV and HPV as follows:
1 Put the V-band couplings (12) latch adjacent to the latch arrows on the LP duct and the mid-Y duct (11). Do not torque the V-band couplings (12) at this time.
2 Make sure that the hinge of the V-band coupling (12) is above the visualization tab of the IPCV (14).
     (k) Install the V-band coupling (2) that attaches the LP duct to the engine. Do not torque the V-band coupling (2) at this time.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT:
  • THERE IS NO TENSION ON THE LINK ASSEMBLIES FOR THE ECS DUCTS
  • THE MATING SURFACES BETWEEN THE DUCTS CORRECTLY ALIGN.
TENSION AND INCORRECT ALIGNMENT CAN CAUSE AIR LEAKAGE, WHICH CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
     (l) Adjust the mid-Y duct (11), the IPCV (14) and the LP duct to remove the load on the ECS:
1 Make sure the V-band couplings (12) are in the correct position to get the maximum clearance.
     (m) Adjust the sense lines to remove the load on the ECS.
     (n) Attach all the link assemblies to the starter duct as follows:
WARNING: USE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL SAFETY CABLE. EACH TIME YOU CUT SAFETY CABLE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE SAFETY CABLE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
1 If necessary, cut the safety cable on the link assemblies.
2 Adjust all the link assemblies as necessary to remove the load on the starter duct. Do not torque the nuts on the link assemblies at this time.
3 Apply anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) or Royco 81 MS Anti-Seize Compound (Material No.PU5-0005A) or PT 605 Anti-Seize Compound (Material No.PU5-0005B) to the threads of the nuts (8).
