A. Safety Precautions
(1) Make sure that all the parts, tools, equipment and loose objects are removed from the engine air intake and the area around the intake.
(2) Make sure that the aircraft is clean and that there are no persons in the dangerous areas.
(3) Obey the engine safety precautions (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-910-804) and the engine operation limits and guidelines procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-910-803).
Subtask 71-00-00-860-190-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that all the parts, tools, equipment and loose objects are removed from the engine air intake and the area around the intake.
(2) Make sure that the aircraft is clean and that there are no persons in the dangerous areas.
(3) Obey the engine safety precautions (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-910-804) and the engine operation limits and guidelines procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-910-803).
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) Do the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).
(3) Put in position the wheel 98F10103500000 CHOCK-MLG,ENGINE RUN-UP at each forward outboard MLG wheel.
Subtask 71-00-00-010-174-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) Do the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).

A. Preparation before the Test
(a) Put Foil Wrap (Material No.P05-169) around the pneumatic joints:
1 Wind the foil wrap around the joint one time.
2 Twist the seam of the foil tight as shown.
3 Make the foil as tight as possible on the tube but do not rip the foil.
4 Attach the foil with lockwire:
(b) Apply PMC 4357 fluorescent penetrant developer (Material No.P05-237) around the pneumatic joints.
Subtask 71-00-00-410-163-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE AFTER SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE CAN STAY HOT FOR A LONG TIME. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY CAN OCCUR.
(1) Use one of the two methods that follow to prepare the joints: (a) Put Foil Wrap (Material No.P05-169) around the pneumatic joints:
1 Wind the foil wrap around the joint one time.
2 Twist the seam of the foil tight as shown.
3 Make the foil as tight as possible on the tube but do not rip the foil.
4 Attach the foil with lockwire:
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
a Attach the foil with Lockwire (Material No.P05-110) at both sides of the pneumatic joint. (b) Apply PMC 4357 fluorescent penetrant developer (Material No.P05-237) around the pneumatic joints.
B. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-802):

E. Pneumatic Leak Test
(1) Perform a normal automatic engine start (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-823).
(2) Let the engine become stable for five minutes at IDLE power.
(3) Make sure that all the engine parameters are in the permitted limits (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-910-803).
(4) Operate the engine at IDLE power for five minutes.
(5) Do the shutdown of the engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-814).
Subtask 71-00-00-010-176-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Perform a normal automatic engine start (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-823).
(2) Let the engine become stable for five minutes at IDLE power.
(3) Make sure that all the engine parameters are in the permitted limits (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-910-803).
(4) Operate the engine at IDLE power for five minutes.
(5) Do the shutdown of the engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-814).

I. Inspection of the Pneumatic Joints
(a) Remove the lockwire:
(b) A joint with foil will show a rip in the foil if the joint has a leak.
(c) A joint with developing powder will show a streak if the joint has a leak.
(d) Repair the joints that leak and test the repaired joints again by the above procedures, if necessary.
(e) Wipe off the developer with a clean cloth, if necessary.
(f) Make sure that all the safety wire, foil and tools are removed from the engine.
5. Close-upWARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE AFTER SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE CAN STAY HOT FOR A LONG TIME. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY CAN OCCUR.
(1) Do an inspection of the joints that you prepared before for leaks as follows: (a) Remove the lockwire:
WARNING:
