A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
   (2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (3) On panel 400VU:
  • Make sure that the landing-gear control-lever is in the DOWN position
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) On panel 402VU, make sure that the LDG GEAR down and locked indicator lights are on (green).
   (3) Do the EIS start procedure (Upper ECAM DU and lower ECAM DU only) (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001).
   (4) On the ECAM CP, push (in) the WHEELS pushbutton switch (P/BSW).
   (5) On the ECAM lower DU, make sure that:
  • The door symbols show the closed position (green in-line)
  • The landing gear symbols show the down and locked position (green triangles).

D. Get Access
   (1) Open the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
   (2) Open the MLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (3) Make sure that the safety devices are installed on the landing gear doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-002).

E. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE CONTROLS AGREE WITH THE POSITION OF THE ITEMS THEY OPERATE BEFORE YOU PRESSURIZE A HYDRAULIC SYSTEM. UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF HYDRAULICALLY OPERATED ITEMS CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Pressurize the Green hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-863-001).
   (2) Lock the MLG door ground-control-handle (31) in the CLOSE position as follows:
NOTE: The MLG doors will stay open during this step because the safety devices are installed on the MLG doors.
     (a) When you lock the MLG door ground-control-handle (31) in the CLOSE position, make sure that:
     (b) Remove the safety pin (33).
     (c) Push and hold the pushbutton (32) and move the MLG door ground-control-handle (31) up.
     (d) Release the pushbutton (32) to lock the MLG door ground-control-handle (31) in the CLOSE position.
     (e) Install the safety pin (33).
   (3) Lock the NLG ground door-opening-handle (36) in the CLOSE position as follows:
NOTE: The NLG doors will stay open during this step because the safety devices are installed on the NLG doors.
     (a) When you lock the NLG door ground-control-handle (36) in the CLOSE position, make sure that:
     (b) Remove the quick release pin (34).
     (c) Push the pusher (35) and move the NLG ground door-opening-handle (36) to the CLOSE position.
     (d) Release the pusher (35) to lock the NLG ground door-opening-handle (36) in the CLOSE position.
     (e) Install the quick release pin (34).
   (4) Depressurize the Green hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-864-001).
Subtask 32-33-00-860-058-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
F. Preparation for Test
WARNING: DO NOT PUT YOUR FINGERS IN THE UPLOCK MECHANISM. THIS IS DANGEROUS.
   (1) Install the rigging pins in the NLG free-fall system as follow:
  • The 98A32301000000 RIGGING PIN at the PIN 1 position in the NLG uplock
  • The 98A32301000000 RIGGING PIN at the PIN 2 position in the NLG vent valve
  • The 98A32301000000 RIGGING PIN at the PIN 4 position in the NLG door uplock.

NOTE: The rigging pin is not installed at the PIN 3 position during this step.

   (2) Install the rigging pins in the MLG free-fall system as follow:
NOTE: The rigging pins are not installed at the PINs 1, 2, 3, 7, 11 and 12 positions during this step.

   (3) If necessary, adjust the applicable free-fall system:
   (4) Remove all the rigging pins that you installed in the NLG and MLG free-fall systems.
   (5) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
  • For the MLG, below zone 734(744)
  • For the NLG, below zone 713(714).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE RIGGING PINS ARE REMOVED BEFORE OPERATION OF THE FREE FALL SYSTEM. DAMAGE WILL OCCUR IF THE RIGGING PINS ARE INSTALLED DURING SYSTEM OPERATION.
   (6) Do this test:
ACTION
RESULT
1.On the aircraft:
  • Use a ROD - NON METALLIC (or an equivalent tool) to move the MLG and NLG uplock hooks to the closed and locked position.
  • Use a ROD - NON METALLIC (or an equivalent tool) to move the MLG and NLG door uplock hooks to the closed and locked position.
In the cockpit, at the same time:
  • A chime operates (aural warning)
  • The MAST CAUT indicator lights come on.

On the ECAM upper DU, the message L/G GEAR UPLOCK FAULT shows.

On the ECAM lower DU:
  • The message UPLOCK shows for each landing gear (amber)
  • Each landing-gear door symbol is replaced with amber crosses
  • Each landing-gear down and locked symbol (green triangles) is replaced with amber crosses on an amber triangle.

On panel 402VU, the LDG GEAR UNLK warning lights come on (red).
2.In the cockpit, push and release the MAST CAUT pushbutton switch.
The MAST CAUT indicator lights go off.
Subtask 32-33-00-860-058-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
F. Preparation for Test
WARNING: DO NOT PUT YOUR FINGERS IN THE UPLOCK MECHANISM. THIS IS DANGEROUS.
   (1) Install the rigging pins in the NLG free-fall system as follow:
  • The 98A32301000000 RIGGING PIN at the PIN 1 position in the NLG uplock
  • The 98A32301000000 RIGGING PIN at the PIN 2 position in the NLG vent valve
  • The 98A32301000000 RIGGING PIN at the PIN 4 position in the NLG door uplock.

NOTE: The rigging pin is not installed at the PIN 3 position during this step.

   (2) Install the rigging pins in the MLG free-fall system as follow:
NOTE: The rigging pins are not installed at the PINs 1, 2, 3, 7, 11 and 12 positions during this step.

   (3) If necessary, adjust the applicable free-fall system:
   (4) Remove all the rigging pins that you installed in the NLG and MLG free-fall systems.
   (5) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
  • For the MLG, below zone 734(744)
  • For the NLG, below zone 713(714).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE RIGGING PINS ARE REMOVED BEFORE OPERATION OF THE FREE FALL SYSTEM. DAMAGE WILL OCCUR IF THE RIGGING PINS ARE INSTALLED DURING SYSTEM OPERATION.
   (6) Do this test:

1.On the aircraft:
  • Use a ROD - NON METALLIC (or an equivalent tool) to move the MLG and NLG uplock hooks to the closed and locked position.
  • Use a ROD - NON METALLIC (or an equivalent tool) to move the MLG and NLG door uplock hooks to the closed and locked position.
In the cockpit, at the same time:

4. Procedure
Subtask 32-33-00-710-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE RIGGING PINS ARE REMOVED BEFORE OPERATION OF THE FREE FALL SYSTEM. DAMAGE WILL OCCUR IF THE RIGGING PINS ARE INSTALLED DURING SYSTEM OPERATION.
A. Operational Test of the Free-Fall Mechanical Control
ACTION
RESULT
1.On panel 110VU:
  • Operate the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle three turns in a clockwise direction at a rate of one turn each five seconds.
On the aircraft:
  • The NLG and MLG door uplock hooks move to the open and unlocked position
  • The input levers of the cut-out valves and the vent valves move to the operated position
  • The NLG and MLG uplock hooks move to the open and unlocked position.

On panel 402VU:
  • The red LDG GEAR UNLK warning lights go off.

On the ECAM lower DU:
  • The message UPLOCK goes out of view
  • Each landing gear door symbol is shown fully open (amber)
  • The amber crosses are replaced with landing gear down and locked symbols (green triangles).

On the ECAM upper DU, the message L/G GEAR UPLOCK FAULT goes out of view.
2.Do a visual inspection of the uplock hooks to make sure that they are in the fully open position:
  • If necessary, use a ROD - NON METALLIC (or an equivalent tool) to move the uplock hooks to the fully open position. Do not apply too much force to put the uplock hooks in the fully open position.

3.On panel 110VU:
  • Operate the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle three turns in a counterclockwise direction at a rate of one turn each five seconds. Put it in its normal (stowed) position.
On the aircraft:
  • The free-fall mechanism on the NLG and MLG door and gear uplocks goes back to the rigged position (system reset)
  • The input levers of the cut-out valves and the vent valves go back to the rigged position (system reset).
Subtask 32-33-00-710-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE RIGGING PINS ARE REMOVED BEFORE OPERATION OF THE FREE FALL SYSTEM. DAMAGE WILL OCCUR IF THE RIGGING PINS ARE INSTALLED DURING SYSTEM OPERATION.

5. Close-up
Subtask 32-33-00-410-061-A
A. Close Access
   (1) Put and lock the MLG door ground-control handle (31) in the OPEN position as follows:
     (a) Remove the safety pin (33).
     (b) Push and hold the pushbutton (32) and move the MLG door ground-control-handle (31) down.
     (c) Release the pushbutton (32) to lock the MLG door ground-control-handle (31) in the OPEN position.
     (d) Install the safety pin (33).
   (2) Put and lock the NLG ground door-opening-handle (36) in the OPEN position as follows:
     (a) Remove the quick release pin (34).
     (b) Push the pusher (35) and move the NLG ground door-opening-handle (36) to the OPEN position.
     (c) Release the pusher (35) to lock the NLG ground door-opening-handle (36) in the OPEN position.
     (d) Install the quick release pin (34).
   (3) Remove the safety devices from the landing gear doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-081-002).
   (4) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (5) Close the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-410-001).
   (6) Close the MLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
   (7) On the ECAM lower DU, make sure that the L/G door symbols change to the closed and locked position (green in-line).
   (8) On panel 402VU, make sure that the LDG GEAR down and locked indicator lights are ON (green triangles).

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Do the EIS stop procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-002).
   (2) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).

C. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Remove the SAFETY BARRIER(S).
   (2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
