CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE RIGGING PINS ARE REMOVED BEFORE OPERATION OF THE FREE FALL SYSTEM. DAMAGE WILL OCCUR IF THE RIGGING PINS ARE INSTALLED DURING SYSTEM OPERATION.

Subtask 32-33-00-941-057-A
A. Safety Precautions
(1) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
(2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
(3) On panel 400VU:
Subtask 32-33-00-010-053-A (1) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
(2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
(3) On panel 400VU:
- Make sure that the landing-gear control-lever is in the DOWN position
- Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
B. Get Access
(1) Open the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
(2) Make sure that a 98D32203502000 SAFETY PIN - NLG DOOR is installed in each NLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-002).
(3) Open the lateral avionics-compartment door 822.
(4) Remove the cockpit floor panels 211FF 211JF (Ref. AMM TASK 53-12-11-000-001).
(5) On the panel 110VU, make sure that the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle is folded into the center console.
Subtask 32-33-00-869-068-A (1) Open the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
(2) Make sure that a 98D32203502000 SAFETY PIN - NLG DOOR is installed in each NLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-002).
(3) Open the lateral avionics-compartment door 822.
(4) Remove the cockpit floor panels 211FF 211JF (Ref. AMM TASK 53-12-11-000-001).
(5) On the panel 110VU, make sure that the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle is folded into the center console.
C. Flight Configuration Precautions
(1) If the electrical power is not necessary for other maintenance tasks, de-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002). Then, it is not necessary to operate the LGCIU circuit breakers.
(2) If the electrical power is necessary, do the precautions for flight configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001) before you open the LGCIU circuit breakers.
Subtask 32-33-00-865-057-A (1) If the electrical power is not necessary for other maintenance tasks, de-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002). Then, it is not necessary to operate the LGCIU circuit breakers.
(2) If the electrical power is necessary, do the precautions for flight configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001) before you open the LGCIU circuit breakers.

A. Adjustment of the NLG Free-Fall Extension Mechanical System
(2) Turn the two turnbuckle bodies (9) to release the tension in the cables.
(3) Adjust the normal-stop screw (13):
(a) Cut and remove the lockwire from the nut (12). Discard the lockwire.
(b) Loosen the nut (12).
(c) Loosen the normal-stop screw (13) until it moves away from the quadrant (11).
(d) Adjust the normal-stop screw (13) until it touches the quadrant (11).
(e) Tighten the nut (12) to keep the normal-stop screw (13) in position.
(f) Make sure that the normal-stop screw (13) touches the quadrant (11).
(g) Safety the nut (12) with14QFB1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy - .
Subtask 32-33-00-480-057-A WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(1) Remove the locking clips (10) from the turnbuckle bodies (9) on the cables (2), (3), (4) and (5). (2) Turn the two turnbuckle bodies (9) to release the tension in the cables.
(3) Adjust the normal-stop screw (13):
(a) Cut and remove the lockwire from the nut (12). Discard the lockwire.
(b) Loosen the nut (12).
(c) Loosen the normal-stop screw (13) until it moves away from the quadrant (11).
(d) Adjust the normal-stop screw (13) until it touches the quadrant (11).
(e) Tighten the nut (12) to keep the normal-stop screw (13) in position.
(f) Make sure that the normal-stop screw (13) touches the quadrant (11).
(g) Safety the nut (12) with
B. Installation of the Rigging Pins
(1) Put in the 98A27901002000 PIN-RIGGING,RUDDER CONTROL at position Pin 3. Make sure that the bellcrank is locked.
(2) Put in the 98A32301000000 RIGGING PIN at position Pin 2. Make sure that the vent-valve input-lever is locked.
Subtask 32-33-00-820-072-A (1) Put in the 98A27901002000 PIN-RIGGING,RUDDER CONTROL at position Pin 3. Make sure that the bellcrank is locked.
(2) Put in the 98A32301000000 RIGGING PIN at position Pin 2. Make sure that the vent-valve input-lever is locked.
C. Rod Adjustment
(a) Cut and remove the lockwire from the nuts (6) and the washers (7) at each end of the rod (8). Discard the lockwire.
(b) Loosen the two nuts (6).
(c) Adjust the rod (8) so that you can put in the rigging pin.
(d) Inspect the inspection holes in the ends of the rod (8). Make sure that they are blocked. This can be done with a short length of lockwire.
(e) TORQUE the nuts (6) to between 0.649 and 0.531 m.daN (57.43 and 46.99 lbf.in )

Subtask 32-33-00-480-058-A WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(1) If it is necessary to adjust the adjustable rod (connected to the related lever) so that you can install the rigging pin: (a) Cut and remove the lockwire from the nuts (6) and the washers (7) at each end of the rod (8). Discard the lockwire.
(b) Loosen the two nuts (6).
(c) Adjust the rod (8) so that you can put in the rigging pin.
(d) Inspect the inspection holes in the ends of the rod (8). Make sure that they are blocked. This can be done with a short length of lockwire.
(e) TORQUE the nuts (6) to between 0.649 and 0.531 m.daN (57.43 and 46.99 lbf.in )

D. Installation of the Rigging Pins
(1) Put in the 98A32301000000 RIGGING PIN at position Pin 1. Make sure that the gear-uplock input-lever is locked.
(a) To get the rigging pin in, adjust the rod connected to the gear-uplock input-lever, if necessary.
(2) Put in the 98A32301000000 RIGGING PIN at position Pin 4. Make sure that the door-uplock input-lever is locked.
(a) To get the rigging pin in, adjust the adjustable rod connected to the door-uplock torque-tube.
Subtask 32-33-00-820-073-A (1) Put in the 98A32301000000 RIGGING PIN at position Pin 1. Make sure that the gear-uplock input-lever is locked.
(a) To get the rigging pin in, adjust the rod connected to the gear-uplock input-lever, if necessary.
(2) Put in the 98A32301000000 RIGGING PIN at position Pin 4. Make sure that the door-uplock input-lever is locked.
(a) To get the rigging pin in, adjust the adjustable rod connected to the door-uplock torque-tube.
E. Adjustment of the Cables
(1) Keep the four rigging pins in position.
(2) Adjust the tension of the cables (2), (3), (4) and (5) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-33-00-820-001), but do not do a functional test.
(3) Safety the ends of the cables (2), (3), (4) and (5) and the turnbuckle bodies (9) with the locking clips (10).
Subtask 32-33-00-860-068-A (1) Keep the four rigging pins in position.
(2) Adjust the tension of the cables (2), (3), (4) and (5) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-33-00-820-001), but do not do a functional test.
(3) Safety the ends of the cables (2), (3), (4) and (5) and the turnbuckle bodies (9) with the locking clips (10).
F. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Remove the rigging pins at positions Pin 1, Pin 2, Pin 3 and Pin 4.
(2) On the panel 110VU:
(a) Remove the WEDGE - NON METALLIC from each side of the GEAR GRAVITY EXTN handle (1).
(b) Release the handle (1) from the center console and turn it clockwise three turns.
(c) Fold the handle (1) into the center console and lock it with a wedge on each side.
Subtask 32-33-00-820-052-A (1) Remove the rigging pins at positions Pin 1, Pin 2, Pin 3 and Pin 4.
(2) On the panel 110VU:
(a) Remove the WEDGE - NON METALLIC from each side of the GEAR GRAVITY EXTN handle (1).
(b) Release the handle (1) from the center console and turn it clockwise three turns.
(c) Fold the handle (1) into the center console and lock it with a wedge on each side.
G. Adjustment of The Unlocked-stop Screw
(2) Loosen the nut (15).
(3) Loosen the unlocked-stop screw (14) until it moves away from the quadrant (11).
(4) Adjust the unlocked-stop screw (14) until it touches the quadrant (11).
(5) Tighten the nut (15) to keep the unlocked-stop screw (14) in position.
(6) Make sure that the unlocked-stop screw (14) touches the quadrant (11).
(7) Safety the nut (15) with the14QFB1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy - .
(8) On panel 110VU, remove the WEDGE - NON METALLIC from each side of the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle (1).
(9) Release the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle (1) from the center console and turn it counterclockwise three turns.
Subtask 32-33-00-820-053-A WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(1) Cut, remove and discard the lockwire from the nut (15). (2) Loosen the nut (15).
(3) Loosen the unlocked-stop screw (14) until it moves away from the quadrant (11).
(4) Adjust the unlocked-stop screw (14) until it touches the quadrant (11).
(5) Tighten the nut (15) to keep the unlocked-stop screw (14) in position.
(6) Make sure that the unlocked-stop screw (14) touches the quadrant (11).
(7) Safety the nut (15) with the
(8) On panel 110VU, remove the WEDGE - NON METALLIC from each side of the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle (1).
(9) Release the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle (1) from the center console and turn it counterclockwise three turns.
H. Rigging Check
(1) Do this check to make sure that the system is correctly rigged:
(a) Operate the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle (1) and turn it as follows:
(c) Fold the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle (1) into the center console with the free-fall system in the locked position.
(d) Make sure that the 98A27901002000 PIN-RIGGING,RUDDER CONTROL can be freely and easily installed and removed at position Pin 3.
(2) Remove the 98A27901002000 PIN-RIGGING,RUDDER CONTROL at position Pin 3.
Subtask 32-33-00-865-058-A (1) Do this check to make sure that the system is correctly rigged:
(a) Operate the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle (1) and turn it as follows:
- Clockwise three turns
- Counterclockwise three turns
- This gives one complete cycle.
(c) Fold the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle (1) into the center console with the free-fall system in the locked position.
(d) Make sure that the 98A27901002000 PIN-RIGGING,RUDDER CONTROL can be freely and easily installed and removed at position Pin 3.
(2) Remove the 98A27901002000 PIN-RIGGING,RUDDER CONTROL at position Pin 3.

J. Ground Configuration
(1) If you did the flight configuration precautions, put the aircraft back to the ground configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-002).

K. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-410-001).
(3) Install the cockpit floor panels 210FF 210JF (Ref. AMM TASK 53-12-11-400-001).
(4) Close the lateral avionics-compartment door 822.
Subtask 32-33-00-720-053-A (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-410-001).
(3) Install the cockpit floor panels 210FF 210JF (Ref. AMM TASK 53-12-11-400-001).

(1) Do a functional test of the free-fall extension system (Ref. AMM TASK 32-33-00-720-001).
