A. Safety Precautions
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (3) On panel 400VU:
  • Make sure that the landing-gear control-lever is in the DOWN position
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
   (4) Lock the GEAR GRAVITY EXTN operating handle (1):
     (a) Make sure that the handle (1) is in the stowed position.
     (b) Put a WEDGE - NON METALLIC at each side of the handle (1), to keep it in position and prevent its movement.

   (5) Open the lateral avionics-compartment door 822.
Subtask 32-33-00-869-066-A
C. Flight Configuration Precautions
   (1) If the electrical power is not necessary for other maintenance tasks, de-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002). Then, it is not necessary to operate the LGCIU circuit breakers.
   (2) If the electrical power is necessary, do the precautions for flight configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001) before you open the LGCIU circuit breakers.

4. Procedure
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE FREE-FALL EXTENSION CABLES ARE ADJUSTED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT ADJUSTMENT OF THE CABLES CAN CAUSE THE FREE-FALL EXTENSION SYSTEM TO BE UNSERVICEABLE.
Subtask 32-33-00-820-050-A
A. Adjustment of the NLG Free-Fall Extension Cable System
   (1) Put in the 98A27901002000 PIN-RIGGING,RUDDER CONTROL at position Pin 3. Make sure that the bellcrank is locked.
NOTE: If the rigging pin cannot be installed, adjust the NLG mechanical system (Ref. AMM TASK 32-33-00-820-002).
   (2) Make sure that the NLG doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
   (3) Make sure that a 98D32203502000 SAFETY PIN - NLG DOOR is installed in each NLG door.
   (4) Make sure that the MLG doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (5) Make sure that a 460005835 SLEEVE - GROUND LOCK is installed on each MLG door.
   (6) To adjust the cables (2) and (3):
     (a) Attach the CABLE TENSIOMETER to the cable (3) at position A in the lateral avionics-compartment, zone 125, 126. Make sure that the tensiometer is attached a minimum of 80 mm (3.1496 in.) away from pulleys and turnbuckles.
     (b) Get the ambient temperature and the temperature of the underfloor area.
     (c) Remove the two locking clips (10) from the turnbuckle body (9) between the cables (2) and (3).
     (d) Plot the ambient and underfloor temperature points on the graph and find the correct tension value.
NOTE: When the points of the ambient temperature and the underfloor temperature meet between the given lines of tension, then the correct tension reading will be calculated by linear extrapolation. (See the example on the graph).
     (e) Operate the tensiometer. If necessary, adjust the turnbuckle body (9), until the tensiometer shows the same value as you find on the graph.
     (f) Release the tensiometer.
     (g) Operate the tensiometer and make sure that it shows the correct value from the graph. If you do not get the correct value, adjust the turnbuckle body (9), until the value is correct.
     (h) Safety the ends of the cables (2) and (3) and the turnbuckle body (9) with the two locking clips (10).
NOTE: If necessary, increase the cable tension to align the locking clips (10) and the turnbuckle body (9). Do not decrease the cable tension to align the locking clips (10) and the turnbuckle body (9).
     (i) Remove the tensiometer.
   (7) To adjust the cables (4) and (5):
     (a) Do the procedure as for the cables (2) and (3).
   (8) Remove the 98A27901002000 PIN-RIGGING,RUDDER CONTROL at position Pin 3.
   (9) Remove the WEDGE - NON METALLIC from each side of the GEAR GRAVITY EXTN operating handle (1).
