3. Job Set-up
Subtask 32-31-18-860-051-A
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the Green hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (2) Make sure that the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (3) In the cockpit, on the right center instrument panel 400VU, make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing-gear control lever.
   (4) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system:
  • In the cockpit, on the hydraulic panel 40VU
  • On the ground service panel of the Green hydraulic system, on access door 197CB.
   (5) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
   (6) Make sure that the CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) is in position below the NLG door uplock-assy (2534GM).
   (7) Make sure that the doors of the NLG are open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
   (8) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position below zone 123(124).
   (9) Make sure that you obeyed the flight configuration precautions (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001).

4. Procedure
Subtask 32-31-18-420-055-A
A. Install the NLG Door Uplock on the Mechanical Support Assy (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-14-400-001).
Subtask 32-31-18-420-051-A
B. Installation of the Mechanical Support Assy of the NLG Door Uplock
   (1) Put the mechanical support assy with the NLG door uplock in position on the support fitting (12).
   (2) Install the bolts (13) and nuts (20) and tighten them.
   (3) Install the clamps of the electrical cables.
     (a) Install the washers (15), clamps (16) and spacer (17) on the bolts (14).
     (b) Install the bolts (14) and nuts (18) and tighten them.

C. Installation of the Latch Support Fitting
   (1) Apply a thin layer of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the threads of the bolt (29).
   (2) Put the latch fitting support (30) in position on the clevis (28).
   (3) Install the bolt (29), washer (31) and nut (33).
   (4) TORQUE the bolt (29) to between 3 and 2.5 m.daN (22.12 and 18.44 lbf.ft ) T.
   (5) Safety the nut (33) with the new
AIPC 32-31-01-13-040 COTTER PIN (32) or AIPC 32-31-81-13-010 COTTER PIN (32).
   (6) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Fillet - (Material No.
06ABB1) to the head of the bolt (29) and on the nut (33).

D. Installation of the NLG Door Actuating-Cylinder
   (1) Prepare for installation
     (a) Clean the mating surfaces with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
     (b) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) on the threads of the slotted nut (21) and bolt (25).
NOTE: You must not mix Material No. 04-004 with Material No. 04-022. You can use Material No. 04-022 as an alternative to Material No. 04-004. You must clean and degrease the parts before you use Material No. 04-022.
   (2) Connection of the NLG door actuating-cylinder
     (a) Put the end of the actuating cylinder rod (27) in position on the bellcrank (19).
     (b) Install the bolt (25), washer (26), bush (24) and washer (23).
     (c) Install the new lockwasher (22) and slotted nut (21).
     (d) TORQUE the slotted nut (21) to between 1.43 and 1.17 m.daN (126.55 and 103.54 lbf.in ) T with the 98D32303000000 ADAPTER-WRENCH KIT (98D32303000201).
     (e) Safety the slotted nut (21) with the new AIPC 32-31-01-03-070 LOCKWASHER (22) or AIPC 32-31-81-03-070 LOCKWASHER (22).
     (f) Lubricate the attaching points of the actuating cylinder (
Ref. AMM TASK 12-22-32-640-002).

E. Connection of the Control Rods
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE NLG DOWNLOCK SAFETY PIN AND THE TWO DOOR SAFETY PINS ARE INSTALLED.
CAUTION: CONNECT THE ROD FROM THE LEFT DOOR TO THE REAR BELLCRANK (LEFT SIDE) AND THE ROD FROM THE RIGHT DOOR TO THE FRONT BELLCRANK (RIGHT SIDE). IF YOU CONNECT THE RODS TO THE WRONG BELLCRANKS, THE RODS WILL BECOME DAMAGED DURING OPERATION OF THE DOORS.
CAUTION: INSTALL THE BOLTS AT THE TOP OF THE CONTROL RODS WITH THE HEADS ON THE INNER SIDE OF THE MECHANISM.
  • IF NOT, THE NUTS CAN TOUCH THE CRANK LEVERS AND CAUSE DAMAGE WHEN THE MECHANISM OPERATES.
   (1) Remove the tie wrap from the control rods (8).
   (2) Do the installation and rigging of the upper rod ends of the control rods (8) with washers (7), nuts (6), new AIPC 32-31-01-12-010 COTTER PINS (5) or AIPC 32-31-81-12-010 COTTER PINS (5) and bolts (11) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-41-400-001).

F. Connection of the Hydraulic and Electrical lines
   (1) Remove the PLUG - BLANKING. Connect the hydraulic lines (3) and (4).
   (2) TORQUE the hydraulic lines (3) and (4) to between 1.7 and 1.5 m.daN (12.54 and 11.06 lbf.ft ) T.
   (3) Remove the CAP - BLANKING. Connect the electrical lines (1) and (2).

G. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

I. Test
   (1) Adjust the hydraulic power unit for minimum pressure and flow rate.
   (2) Do 5 full DOOR CLOSE/DOOR OPEN cycles (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-410-001) to bleed the hydraulic system.
   (3) Do an operational test of the landing gear doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-00-710-002).
Subtask 32-31-18-720-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
I. Test
   (1) Adjust the hydraulic power unit for minimum pressure and flow rate.
   (2) Do an inspection of the NLG proximity sensor and target clearance (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-73-200-002).
   (3) Do 5 full DOOR CLOSE/DOOR OPEN cycles (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-410-001) to bleed the hydraulic system.
   (4) Do an operational test of the landing gear doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-00-710-002).

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (3) Remove the safety barrier(s).
   (4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
   (5) Close the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-410-001).
