Installation of the NLG Main-Door Control-Rod

WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE LANDING GEAR ARE CLEAR.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) In the cockpit, on the panel 400VU, make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is(are) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear control lever.
(2) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
(3) Make sure that the NLG doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
(4) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position below the related NLG door.
4. Procedure(1) In the cockpit, on the panel 400VU, make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is(are) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear control lever.
(2) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
(3) Make sure that the NLG doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
(4) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position below the related NLG door.
Subtask 32-31-41-820-050-B
A. Adjustment of the NLG Main-Door Control-Rod
(2) Loosen the nuts (12).
(3) Loosen the locking devices (13).
(4) Use the TAPE MEASURE 2M (6FT) or the RULER - STEEL to adjust the length between the eye-end centers of the rod (4) to 848 mm (33.3858 in.) +/- 0.2 mm (0.0079 in.).
(5) Tighten the locking devices (13).
(6) TORQUE the nuts (12) to between 2.5 and 1.8 m.daN (18.44 and 13.27 lbf.ft )

(7) Safety the nuts (12) with14QFC1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES - .
Subtask 32-31-41-420-050-A WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(1) Cut, remove and discard the lockwire from the nuts (12). (2) Loosen the nuts (12).
(3) Loosen the locking devices (13).
(4) Use the TAPE MEASURE 2M (6FT) or the RULER - STEEL to adjust the length between the eye-end centers of the rod (4) to 848 mm (33.3858 in.) +/- 0.2 mm (0.0079 in.).
(5) Tighten the locking devices (13).
(6) TORQUE the nuts (12) to between 2.5 and 1.8 m.daN (18.44 and 13.27 lbf.ft )

B. Connection of the NLG Main-Door Control-Rod
(2) Put the rod (4) in position.
(4) Make sure that the bushes (8) and (5) are in position.
(5) Install the washers (9) and (3), then install the nuts (11) and (2).
(6) TORQUE the nuts (11) and (2) to between 0.61 and 0.6 m.daN (53.98 and 53.10 lbf.in )
.
(7) Make sure that clearances A and B are more than or equal to 0.1 mm (0.0039 in.).
(8) If clearances A and B are correct, safety the nuts (11) and (2) with the new AIPC 32-22-11-01-180 COTTER PIN (10) or AIPC 32-22-81-02-030 COTTER PIN (10) and the new AIPC 32-31-01-12-010 COTTER PIN (1) or AIPC 32-31-81-12-010 COTTER PIN (1).
(9) If clearance A is not correct, do the steps that follow:
(a) Remove the nut (11) and the washer (9).
(b) Remove the bolt (7) and disconnect the rod (4).
(c) Remove the bush (8) and install the new AIPC 32-22-11-01-220 BUSH (8).
(d) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) to the bolt (7).
(e) Put the rod (4) in position.
(f) Install the bolt (7), the washer (9) and the nut (11).
(g) TORQUE the nut (11) to between 0.61 and 0.6 m.daN (53.98 and 53.10 lbf.in )
and safety it with the new AIPC 32-22-11-01-180 COTTER PIN (10) or AIPC 32-22-81-02-030 COTTER PIN (10).
(10) If clearance B is not correct, do the steps that follow:
(a) Remove the nut (2) and the washer (3).
(b) Remove the bolt (6) and disconnect the rod (4).
(c) Remove the bush (5) and install the new AIPC 32-31-01-14-117 BUSH (5).
(d) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) to the bolt (6).
(e) Put the rod (4) in position.
(g) Install the washer (3) and the nut (2).
(h) TORQUE the nut (2) to between 0.61 and 0.6 m.daN (53.98 and 53.10 lbf.in )
and safety it with the new AIPC 32-31-01-12-010 COTTER PIN (1) or AIPC 32-31-81-12-010 COTTER PIN (1).
(11) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant_General Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06AAA1) to:
Subtask 32-31-41-710-050-A CAUTION:
CONNECT THE ROD FROM THE LEFT DOOR TO THE REAR BELLCRANK (LEFT SIDE) AND THE ROD FROM THE RIGHT DOOR TO THE FRONT BELLCRANK (RIGHT SIDE).
IF YOU CONNECT THE RODS TO THE WRONG BELLCRANKS, THE RODS WILL BECOME DAMAGED DURING OPERATION OF THE DOORS.
CAUTION:
WHEN YOU PUT THE CONNECTING RODS IN POSITION, MAKE SURE THAT THE TAPERED ENDS OF THEM ARE CONNECTED TO THE UPPER BELLCRANK.
RODS INSTALLED IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION CAN CAUSE IMPORTANT DAMAGE TO THE MECHANISM.
(1) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) to the bolts (7) and (6). (2) Put the rod (4) in position.
CAUTION:
INSTALL THE BOLTS AT THE TOP OF THE CONTROL RODS WITH THE HEADS ON THE INNER SIDE OF THE MECHANISM.
(3) Install the bolts (6) with the heads on the inner side of the mechanism. - IF NOT, THE NUTS CAN TOUCH THE CRANK LEVERS AND CAUSE DAMAGE WHEN THE MECHANISM OPERATES.
(4) Make sure that the bushes (8) and (5) are in position.
(5) Install the washers (9) and (3), then install the nuts (11) and (2).
(6) TORQUE the nuts (11) and (2) to between 0.61 and 0.6 m.daN (53.98 and 53.10 lbf.in )
. (7) Make sure that clearances A and B are more than or equal to 0.1 mm (0.0039 in.).
(8) If clearances A and B are correct, safety the nuts (11) and (2) with the new AIPC 32-22-11-01-180 COTTER PIN (10) or AIPC 32-22-81-02-030 COTTER PIN (10) and the new AIPC 32-31-01-12-010 COTTER PIN (1) or AIPC 32-31-81-12-010 COTTER PIN (1).
(9) If clearance A is not correct, do the steps that follow:
(a) Remove the nut (11) and the washer (9).
(b) Remove the bolt (7) and disconnect the rod (4).
(c) Remove the bush (8) and install the new AIPC 32-22-11-01-220 BUSH (8).
(d) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) to the bolt (7).
(e) Put the rod (4) in position.
(f) Install the bolt (7), the washer (9) and the nut (11).
(g) TORQUE the nut (11) to between 0.61 and 0.6 m.daN (53.98 and 53.10 lbf.in )
and safety it with the new AIPC 32-22-11-01-180 COTTER PIN (10) or AIPC 32-22-81-02-030 COTTER PIN (10). (10) If clearance B is not correct, do the steps that follow:
(a) Remove the nut (2) and the washer (3).
(b) Remove the bolt (6) and disconnect the rod (4).
(c) Remove the bush (5) and install the new AIPC 32-31-01-14-117 BUSH (5).
(d) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) to the bolt (6).
(e) Put the rod (4) in position.
CAUTION:
INSTALL THE BOLTS AT THE TOP OF THE CONTROL RODS WITH THE HEADS ON THE INNER SIDE OF THE MECHANISM.
(f) Install the bolt (6) with the heads on the inner side of the mechanism. - IF NOT, THE NUTS CAN TOUCH THE CRANK LEVERS AND CAUSE DAMAGE WHEN THE MECHANISM OPERATES.
(g) Install the washer (3) and the nut (2).
(h) TORQUE the nut (2) to between 0.61 and 0.6 m.daN (53.98 and 53.10 lbf.in )
and safety it with the new AIPC 32-31-01-12-010 COTTER PIN (1) or AIPC 32-31-81-12-010 COTTER PIN (1). (11) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant_General Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06AAA1) to:
- The head of the bolts (6) and (7)
- The nut (2) and the washer (3)
- The nut (11) and the washer (9).
C. Operational Test
(1) Do a full door close/door open cycle (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-410-001).
(2) Make sure that the door operation is correct.

A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
(1) Remove the access platform.
(2) Remove the safety barriers.
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(4) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
