3. Job Set-up
Subtask 12-22-32-941-051-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
   (2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are installed on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (3) On the panel 400VU:
  • make sure that the landing-gear control-lever (6GA) is in the DOWN position
  • put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
   (4) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear doors.

B. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position adjacent to the Nose Landing Gear (NLG).
   (2) Open the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
   (3) Make sure that a 98D32203502000 SAFETY PIN - NLG DOOR is installed in each NLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-002).

C. Preparation of the Equipment
   (1) Make sure the LUBRICATING EQUIPMENT is in the correct condition before you fill it.
   (2) Operate the LUBRICATING EQUIPMENT to make sure the lines and adaptor are full of new lubricant.
   (3) Clean the greasers:
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
     (a) Clean the greasers with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
4. Procedure

CAUTION: DO NOT OPERATE POWER-OPERATED LUBRICATION EQUIPMENT AT MORE THAN 207 bars (3000 psi). HIGH LUBRICATION PRESSURE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
CAUTION: FOR LUBRICATION OF THE GLAND HOUSING ON THE LANDING GEAR BOTTOM-BEARING, USE ONLY HAND-OPERATED LUBRICATION EQUIPMENT. POWER-OPERATED LUBRICATION EQUIPMENT CAN CAUSE EXTRUSION OF THE LANDING-GEAR BOTTOM-BEARING SCRAPER-SEAL.
A. Lubrication of Nose Landing Gear and Doors
NOTE: This subtask is only applicable for the NLG without the lock plate on the torque-link center-hinge pin.
NOTE: Refer to the figures together with the Tables that follow to find the greasers.
NOTE: For lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
   (1) Lubricate the NLG door and uplock with Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) as follows:
     (a) Lubricate greaser items 1 and 2 in the NLG door and uplocks table with hand-operated lubrication equipment. Use hand-operated lubrication equipment to lubricate each greaser with a maximum of two full strokes.
     (b) Lubricate the greasers of all the other items given in the table until new grease comes out.
   (2) Lubricate the NLG with Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) as follows:
     (a) Lubricate greaser items 1, 2, 5, 7 and 10 (only on the turning tube) in the NLG table with hand-operated lubrication equipment. Use hand-operated lubrication equipment to lubricate the greaser with a maximum of three full strokes.
     (b) Lubricate greaser item 4 only at the end of the retraction actuator with the hand-operated lubrication equipment.
NOTE: Grease must not be applied to the chrome surfaces of the actuator piston rods.
     (c) Lubricate the greasers of all the other items given in the table until new grease comes out.

   (3) Remove the unwanted grease:
     (a) Clean the greasers with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
     (b) Make sure that the greaser ball is installed correctly.
   (4) Make sure that there is no grease on the chrome surfaces of the actuator piston rods.
     (a) If grease is found on the chrome surfaces of the actuator piston rods:
       1 Clean the chrome surfaces of the actuator piston rods with clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) .
       2 Apply a thin layer of Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) with clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) on the chrome surfaces of the actuator piston rods.

B. Lubrication of Nose Landing Gear and Doors
NOTE: This subtask is only applicable for the NLG with:
  • The lock plate on the torque-link center-hinge pin and one greaser on greaser item 11 (cam pivot for the NLG weight-on-wheels sensor).
    For the NLG:
  • Without the lock plate at torque-link center-hinge pin, go to Para. 4.A.
  • With the lock plate on the torque-link center-hinge pin and two greasers on greaser item 11 (cam pivot for NLG weight-on-wheels sensor), go to Para. 4.C.
NOTE: Refer to the figures together with the Tables that follow to find the greasers.
NOTE: For lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
   (1) Lubricate the NLG door and uplock with Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) as follows:
     (a) Lubricate greaser items 1 and 2 in the NLG door and uplocks table with hand-operated lubrication equipment. Use hand-operated lubrication equipment to lubricate each greaser with a maximum of two full strokes.
     (b) Lubricate the greasers of all the other items given in the table until new grease comes out.
   (2) Lubricate the NLG with Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) as follows:
     (a) Lubricate greaser items 1, 2, 5, 7 and 10 (only on the turning tube) in the NLG table with hand-operated lubrication equipment. Use hand-operated lubrication equipment to lubricate the greaser with a maximum of three full strokes.

NOTE: Refer to the figures together with the Tables that follow to find the greasers.

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Close the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-410-001).

B. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Remove the SAFETY BARRIER(S).
   (2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (3) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
