4. Procedure
Subtask 54-51-17-210-059-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Visual Inspection of the Pylon-to-Wing Attachments for the Rotation of the Bearings at the Aft Attachments
   (1) Do a visual inspection of the pylon-to-wing attachments at the aft attachments (RIB10), for the bearing rotation, at:
  • The upper bearings (14)
  • The lower bearings (13).
   (2) If there is no rotation of the upper bearings (14) and the lower bearings (13), go to step 4.B.
   (3) If there is a rotation at one of the upper bearings (14) or the lower bearings (13), do the steps that follow:
     (a) Where there is a rotation, do a visual inspection of the related lockwasher (16) or (17) and slotted nut (15) or (18) (where the tab of the lockwasher (16) or (17) safeties the slotted nut (15) or (18)).
     (b) If there is no damage on the related lockwasher (16) or (17) and slotted nut (15) or (18), the bearing rotation is permitted.
1 For the upper bearings (14), do a check of the sealant fillet.
a If the sealant is damaged, repair it with Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) SRM 517600.
         b Go to step 4.B.
     (c) If there is damage on the related lockwasher (16) or (17) or slotted nut (15) or (18):
       1 Replace the damaged parts:
a For the upper bearing (14):
b For the lower bearings (13):
2 It is recommended to replace the lower bearings (13) with the new lower bearings (13), part number D0003012100000 or D0003012100200 (interchangeable part of the lower bearings (13)) (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-17-000-003) and (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-17-400-003).
a Replace the slotted nut (18) and the lockwasher (17) (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-17-000-003) and (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-17-400-003).
NOTE: If you replace the lower bearings (13) with the new lower bearings (13) with the same part number, the same damage could occur again.
3 When a lockwasher (16) or (17) is damaged but stays in position during a short overhaul:
CAUTION: WHEN YOU FIND A DAMAGED LOCKWASHER, AIRBUS RECOMMENDS THAT YOU REPLACE IT BEFORE THE NEXT FLIGHT. BUT IF YOU FIND A LOCKWASHER THAT IS DAMAGED BUT STAYS IN POSITION DURING A SHORT OVERHAUL, A LONGER TIME LIMIT CAN BE APPLICABLE FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE LOCKWASHER. IN THESE CONDITIONS, YOU MUST CONTACT AIRBUS FIRST TO KNOW WHICH TIME LIMIT YOU MUST OBEY.
a You must contact Airbus for the replacement of the damaged lockwasher (16) or (17):
  • You must send the damage report to Airbus to know which is the time limit that you must obey.
  • You will receive additional information from Airbus.
