A. Safety Precautions
(1) Make sure the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS is correctly installed on the flap/slat control lever.
(2) Make sure that the safety barriers are in position.
(3) Make sure the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
Subtask 57-26-12-860-050-A (1) Make sure the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS is correctly installed on the flap/slat control lever.
(2) Make sure that the safety barriers are in position.
(3) Make sure the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position below the applicable pylon rear attachment point.
(2) Make sure that the aft attach fitting has been removed (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-17-000-002).
4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position below the applicable pylon rear attachment point.
(2) Make sure that the aft attach fitting has been removed (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-17-000-002).
Subtask 57-26-12-210-050-A
A. Preparation for Installation
(1) Use a SPATULA - PLASTIC to remove unwanted sealant from the interface of the pylon rear attachment.
(2) Clean the interface of the bearing (4) and the pylon rear attachment (3) with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(3) Examine the pylon rear attachment and adjacent structure for:
(a) If the sealant is damaged, repair it with Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) SRM 517600.
Subtask 57-26-12-420-050-B (1) Use a SPATULA - PLASTIC to remove unwanted sealant from the interface of the pylon rear attachment.
(2) Clean the interface of the bearing (4) and the pylon rear attachment (3) with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(3) Examine the pylon rear attachment and adjacent structure for:
- cracks
- damaged paint and sealant
- distortion
- correct condition of all fasteners and safety devices.
(a) If the sealant is damaged, repair it with Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) SRM 517600.
B. Installation of the Pylon Rear Attachment Bearing
(3) If the slotted nut (1) was found to be damaged, replace it with a new AIPC 57-26-05-02-020 SLOTTED NUT (1) or AIPC 57-26-85-02-020 SLOTTED NUT (1).
(5) Hold the bearing (4) with the 98D57004027000 SPANNER - PYLON PICK UP. TORQUE the slotted nut (1) with the 98D57004026000 SOCKET - PYLON PICK UP to between 21 and 15 m.daN (154.87 and 110.62 lbf.ft )

(6) Safety the slotted nut (1) with the tab washer (2).
5. Close-upWARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
(1) Install the bearing (4), or a new AIPC 57-26-05-02-010 BEARING (4) or AIPC 57-26-85-02-010 BEARING (4) if applicable, in the pylon rear attachment (3). NOTE: The bearing (4) must be installed from the front.
(2) Install the new AIPC 57-26-05-02-030 TAB WASHER (2) or AIPC 57-26-85-02-030 TAB WASHER (2). Make sure that the internal tag of the washer (2) is engaged in the slot on the bearing (4). (3) If the slotted nut (1) was found to be damaged, replace it with a new AIPC 57-26-05-02-020 SLOTTED NUT (1) or AIPC 57-26-85-02-020 SLOTTED NUT (1).
NOTE: Put a small bend in the tabs of the tab washer (2) before you install the slotted nut (1). This will make it easier to bend the tabs when you subsequently lock the slotted nut.
(4) Install the slotted nut (1) on the bearing (4) with the chamfered face against the tab washer (2). (5) Hold the bearing (4) with the 98D57004027000 SPANNER - PYLON PICK UP. TORQUE the slotted nut (1) with the 98D57004026000 SOCKET - PYLON PICK UP to between 21 and 15 m.daN (154.87 and 110.62 lbf.ft )
. (6) Safety the slotted nut (1) with the tab washer (2).

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install the applicable aft attach fitting (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-17-400-002).

B. Removal of Equipment
(1) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS from the flap/slat control lever.
(2) Remove the safety barriers.
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(4) Remove the access platform(s).
(5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
(1) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS from the flap/slat control lever.
(2) Remove the safety barriers.
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(4) Remove the access platform(s).
(5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
