3. Job Set-up
Subtask 57-26-12-941-050-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever.
   (2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (3) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.

B. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the applicable pylon rear-attachment point, zone 475(485).
   (2) Remove the applicable aft attach fitting (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-17-000-002).
4. Procedure
Subtask 57-26-12-020-050-A
A. Removal of the Pylon Rear Attachment Bearing
   (1) Bend the tab washer (2) to release the slotted nut (1).
   (2) Hold the bearing (4) with the 98D57004027000 SPANNER - PYLON PICK UP and use the 98D57004026000 SOCKET - PYLON PICK UP to remove the slotted nut (1).
   (3) Make sure that the slotted nut (1) is in the correct condition.
   (4) Remove and discard the tab washer (2).
   (5) Do these steps to remove the bearing (4):
CAUTION: DO NOT DAMAGE THE REAR BEARING ATTACHMENT WHEN YOU REMOVE THE BEARING.
     (a) Use an applicable EXTRACTOR - BEARING to remove the bearing (4).
   (6) Do an inspection of the bearing (4) for in-service wear:
     (a) Measure the total radial play (Dim Y). You must replace the bearing (4) if the total radial play Dim Y is more than 0.08 mm (0.0031 in.).
     (b) Measure the total axial play (Dim X). You must replace the bearing (4) if the total axial play Dim X is more than 0.16 mm (0.0063 in.).
