A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
   (2) On the panel 25VU, make sure that the APU MASTER SW p/bsw is OFF.
   (3) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the APU.
   (4) Depressurize the aircraft hydraulic systems
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).

C. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE below the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR.
   (2) Open the access doors 315AL 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
   (3) Set the LIGHT SW 11LJ to the ON position.
4. Procedure
Subtask 49-91-41-020-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Filters.
   (1) Put the CONTAINER 10 L(2 1/2 USGAL) below the oil filter housings (4).
   (2) Disconnect the electrical connectors (5).
   (3) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
   (4) Remove the filter housings (4) from the lube module (1) and discard the lube filter (6) and scavenge filter (2).
   (5) Remove and discard the O-rings (3).

B. Installation of the new Filters.
   (1) Lubricate the new AIPC 49-91-45-70-020 O-RING (3) or AIPC 49-91-84-32-020 O-RING (3) with Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine - - (Material No.03ABA1) or Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine Low Temp. - (Material No.03ABB1) .
   (2) Install the new O-rings (3) on the filter housings (4).
   (3) Put the new AIPC 49-91-45-70-030 LUBE FILTER (6) or AIPC 49-91-84-32-030 LUBE FILTER (6) and AIPC 49-91-45-70-030 SCAVENGE FILTER (2) or AIPC 49-91-84-32-030 SCAVENGE FILTER (2) into Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine - - (Material No.03ABA1) or Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine Low Temp. - (Material No.03ABB1) and install the lube filter (6) and scavenge filter (2) into the filter housings (4).
   (4) Install the filter housings (4) into the lube module.
   (5) TORQUE the filter housings (4) to between 40 and 30 lbf.in (0.452 and 0.339 m.daN ) T.
   (6) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
   (7) Connect the electrical connectors (5).
   (8) Check the oil quantity in the gearbox, add oil if the level is on or less than the ADD mark on the sight glass (
Ref. AMM TASK 49-90-00-600-007).

C. Inspection of the Filter Elements
   (1) Make an inspection of the used lube filter (6) and scavenge filter (2) and the filter housings (4) for the following contamination:

  • brass flakes or strips,
  • silver-plated steel flakes or strips,
  • large metallic chips with a definite shape.
  • copper wire particles,
  • large nonmetallic flakes,
  • phenolic resin.
  • Do a check for contamination of the Metal Chip Detector (Ref. AMM TASK 49-91-42-200-004)

   (2) If any of the described contamination is found, carry out the following procedure :
     (a) Remove the APU Generator (Ref. AMM TASK 24-23-51-000-001).
     (b) Install a generator cover plate (Ref. AMM TASK 49-11-00-400-006).
     (c) Start and operate the APU.
       1 Close the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-410-001).
       2 Start the APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-008).
       3 Allow the APU to run for 15 minutes.
       4 Shutdown the APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-009).
       5 Open the APU access doors (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
     (d) Remove and examine the new lube filter (6) and scavenge filter (2) and the Metal Chip Detector for further contamination.
       1 If after 15 minutes of operation no contamination is found the APU is serviceable. If contamination is found, replace the APU.
     (e) Install the lube filter (6) and the scavenge filter (2).
     (f) Install the metal chip detector (Ref. AMM TASK 49-91-42-400-003).
     (g) Remove the generator cover plate (Ref. AMM TASK 49-11-00-000-006).
     (h) Install a new APU generator (Ref. AMM TASK 24-23-51-400-001).

D. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

E. Start and operate the APU.
   (1) Close the APU access doors (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-410-001).
   (2) Start the APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-008).
   (3) Allow the APU to run for 5 minutes.
   (4) Shutdown the APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-009).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE APU AIR INTAKE IS FULLY CLOSED TO MAKE SURE THAT THE SHUTDOWN OF THE APU WAS CORRECT. IF THE APU AIR INTAKE IS NOT FULLY CLOSED, OPERATE THE APU AT NO-LOAD FOR 5 MINUTES THEN DO A NORMAL SHUTDOWN.
   (5) Open the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
NOTE: Oil level inspection and servicing should be checked not less than 15 minutes after the last shutdown. Do not re-service before APU is operated again.
   (6) Check for leaks at the filter housings (4) and the generator flange.
NOTE: No leakage is permitted.
   (7) Do a visual check of the oil quantity in the APU. Add oil if the oil level is on or less than the ADD mark on the sight glass (Ref. AMM TASK 49-90-00-600-007).

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
   (3) Set the LIGHT SW 11LJ to the OFF position.
   (4) Close the APU access doors 315AL 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-410-001).
   (5) Remove the access platform(s).

   (1) Put the related hydraulic system in the pressurized configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (2) De-energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-862-001).
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
