Removal of the APU Generator
WARNING:
ISOLATE THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS FROM THE RELATED EQUIPMENT AND THE ENVIRONMENT.
WARNING:
LOCK THE MECHANISM OF THE ACCESS DOOR 316AR WITH THE PIP PIN WHEN YOU OPEN THE ACCESS DOOR. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY.
WARNING:
DO NOT TOUCH THE APU UNTIL IT IS SUFFICIENTLY COOL TO PREVENT BURNS WHEN YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE TASK(S).
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
WARNING:
DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE THREADS OF THE SET SCREWS WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL THE GENERATOR.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) On the panel 25VU, make sure that the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch is off.
(2) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the APU.
(3) Make sure that ground fire extinguishing equipment is available.
(4) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
Subtask 24-23-51-865-060-A (1) On the panel 25VU, make sure that the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch is off.

C. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR.
(2) Open the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
4. Procedure(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR.
(2) Open the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
Subtask 24-23-51-020-053-A
A. Removal of the APU Generator (type 5913667 or type BA03604)
(2) Disconnect the electrical connector (12) from the APU generator (4).
(3) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(4) Remove the screw (24), the washer (25), the clamp (26) and the spacer (27).
(5) Remove the screws (17), the washers (16) and the cover plate (18).
(6) Remove the nuts and captive washers (19), the washers (20), the electrical cables (21), the terminal forks (22) and the washers (23).
(7) If the nuts and captive washers (19) are damaged or have burn marks, discard them.
(b) Remove the drain plug (14). Be careful to collect the drained oil in the container.
(10) Remove and discard the washer (13) from the drain plug (14).
(11) Loosen the nuts (15):
(12) Turn the APU generator (4):
(13) Remove and discard the O-rings (9) and (10).
(14) If a new APU generator (4) must be installed, remove the countersunk screws (1) and the seal plate (7).
Subtask 24-23-51-020-055-A WARNING:
DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE THREADS OF THE SET SCREWS WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL THE GENERATOR.
THE GENERATOR WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 23kg (50.7lb).
(1) Put the 98D49207537001 CABLE-SAFETY, APU GENERATOR on the generator to get a safe condition when you remove the APU generator (4). (2) Disconnect the electrical connector (12) from the APU generator (4).
(3) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(4) Remove the screw (24), the washer (25), the clamp (26) and the spacer (27).
(5) Remove the screws (17), the washers (16) and the cover plate (18).
(6) Remove the nuts and captive washers (19), the washers (20), the electrical cables (21), the terminal forks (22) and the washers (23).
(7) If the nuts and captive washers (19) are damaged or have burn marks, discard them.
NOTE: Record all the removed and/or discarded items in this step, to make sure you install the same items again.
(8) Put a CONTAINER 3 L(3/4 USGAL) below the APU generator (4). WARNING:

(9) Remove the drain plug (14): NOTE: The drain plug (14) has no inscription in the head.
(a) Cut and discard the lockwire from the drain plug (14). (b) Remove the drain plug (14). Be careful to collect the drained oil in the container.
(10) Remove and discard the washer (13) from the drain plug (14).
(11) Loosen the nuts (15):
CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE THE NUTS. A SPANNER CAN EASILY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ADJACENT WEBS OF THE GENERATOR HOUSING.
(a) Hold the APU generator (4), loosen the nuts (15) until the APU generator (4) can be turned. (12) Turn the APU generator (4):
CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU TURN THE GENERATOR. TOOLS THAT YOU USE TO HELP YOU MOVE THE APU GENERATOR CAN EASILY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE HOUSING. DO NOT APPLY FORCE TO THE WEBS AT THE MAIN FLANGE.
(a) Turn the APU generator (4) counterclockwise and remove it from the gear-box splined drive. (13) Remove and discard the O-rings (9) and (10).
(14) If a new APU generator (4) must be installed, remove the countersunk screws (1) and the seal plate (7).
B. Removal of the APU Generator (type BA16501)
(2) Disconnect the electrical connector (12) from the APU generator (4).
(3) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(4) Remove the screw (24), the washer (25), the clamp (26) and the spacer (27).
(5) Remove the screws (17), the washers (16) and the cover plate (18).
(6) Remove and discard the nuts and captive washers (19), remove the electrical cables (21), the terminal forks (22) and the washers (23).
(7) Put a CONTAINER 3 L(3/4 USGAL) below the APU generator (4).
(8) Remove the drain plug (14):
(9) Remove and discard the washer (13) from the drain plug (14).
(10) Loosen the nuts (15):
(11) Turn the APU generator (4):
(12) Remove and discard the O-rings (9) and (10).
(13) If a new APU generator (4) must be installed, remove the countersunk screws (1) and the seal plate (7).

DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE THREADS OF THE SET SCREWS WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL THE GENERATOR.

NOTE: The drain plug (14) has the inscription "OIL DRAIN" in the head.
(a) Remove the drain plug (14). Be careful to collect the drained oil in the container. (9) Remove and discard the washer (13) from the drain plug (14).
(10) Loosen the nuts (15):
CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE THE NUTS. A SPANNER CAN EASILY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ADJACENT WEBS OF THE GENERATOR HOUSING.
(a) Hold the APU generator (4), loosen the nuts (15) until the APU generator (4) can be turned. (11) Turn the APU generator (4):

(13) If a new APU generator (4) must be installed, remove the countersunk screws (1) and the seal plate (7).
