WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE FLIGHT CONTROL SAFETY-LOCKS AND THE WARNING NOTICES ARE IN POSITION.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

3. Job Set-up

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
   (2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (3) On panel 400VU:
  • make sure that the landing-gear control-lever is in the DOWN position
  • make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
   (4) On panel 110VU, make sure that the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle is folded into the center console.
   (5) Make sure that a WEDGE - NON METALLIC is installed on each side of the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle to lock it in position.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the NLG doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
   (2) Make sure that the NLG Safety Pins are installed (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-002).
   (3) Make sure that the cockpit floor panels are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 53-12-11-000-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 53-12-12-000-001).
   (4) Make sure that the avionics door is open.
   (5) Make sure that the 98A27801001000 RIGGING PIN is in the Pin 1 position.
   (6) Make sure that the 98A27901002000 PIN-RIGGING,RUDDER CONTROL is in the Pin 4 position.

C. Flight Configuration Precautions
   (1) If you did not open the LGCIU circuit breakers, make sure that the electrical circuits are de-energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
   (2) If you opened the LGCIU circuit breakers, make sure that the flight configuration precautions were obeyed (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001).

4. Procedure

A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.

B. Installation of the NLG Free-Fall Extension Cables (12) and/or (14)
   (1) If necessary, release the cable(s) (1) and/or (2) from the adjacent structure.
   (2) Attach the cable(s) (12) and/or (14) to the cable quadrant (15) on the reduction gearbox.
   (3) Connect the cable(s) (12) and/or (14) to the cable(s) (1) and/or (2) with the turnbuckle(s) (17).
   (4) Install the cable-guard (24) with these items, the:
  • spacers (18), the bolts (13), (20) and the washer (19)
  • washer (23) and the nut (22).
   (5) Safety the nut (22) with the AIPC 32-33-15-01-030 COTTER PIN (21).
   (6) Temporarily attach the locking clips (16).

E. Remove the Rigging Pins

F. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) On panel 110VU, remove the WEDGE - NON METALLIC from each side of the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle.
   (3) Close the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-410-001).

G. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the cockpit floor panels 211FF 211JF (Ref. AMM TASK 53-12-11-400-001).
   (3) Install the floor panel 221LF (Ref. AMM TASK 53-12-12-400-001).
   (4) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (5) Close the lateral avionics-compartment door 812.

   (1) Remove the SAFETY BARRIER(S).
   (2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (3) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
