3. Job Set-up

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) Make sure that the safety devices are installed on the landing gears (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (3) On panel 400VU:
     (a) Make sure that the landing-gear control lever (6GA) is in the DOWN position.
     (b) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gears.
   (4) On panel 110VU:
     (a) Make sure that the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle is in the fully counterclockwise position.
     (b) Fold the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle into the center console.
     (c) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) on the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle to tell persons not to operate the landing gears.
   (5) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow and Green hydraulic systems.

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the MLG and NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
   (2) Make sure that the safety devices are installed on the landing gear doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-002).

   (1) Do the flight configuration precautions (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001).

D. Lift the Aircraft
   (1) Lift the aircraft on jacks (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-001).

E. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002).
   (2) Connect the GROUND POWER CART-HYDRAULIC to the Green hydraulic system.
     (a) Do not pressurize the Green hydraulic system.
   (3) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
     (a) If you use the APU to energize the aircraft electrical circuits:
       1 Set ADIRU 1 or 3 to ON.
       2 On panel 20VU, set IR1 or IR3 selector switch to ATT.
   (4) Do the EIS start procedure (upper ECAM DU and lower ECAM DU only)
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001).

   (1) Remove the safety devices from the landing gears (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-081-001).
4. Procedure

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE LANDING GEAR ARE CLEAR.
CAUTION: REMOVE THE SAFETY STAY BEFORE YOU DO THE LANDING GEAR EXTENSION AND RETRACTION TESTS. DAMAGE TO THE FUSELAGE CAN OCCUR IF THE AIRCRAFT MOVES DURING THE TESTS.
A. Retraction of the Landing Gears for Maintenance
NOTE: In the steps that follow, the indications of only the lights that change are given.
NOTE: During this procedure, the ECAM shows the message L/G doors not closed, which you can ignore.
   (1) Remove the JACK - SAFETY STAY from FR73/74.
   (2) Pressurize the Green Hydraulic system with the GROUND POWER CART-HYDRAULIC (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-001).

RESULT
None
On panel 402VU:
  • The green lights are on.
On panel 400VU:

  • Move the landing-gear control lever (6GA) to the UP position.
On panel 402VU:

  • The green lights go off.
  • The red lights come on.
On the aircraft:
  • Make sure that the landing gears retract freely to the uplock position.
On the aircraft:
  • The landing gears starts to retract to the uplock position.
On panel 402VU:
  • The red lights stay on.
On the aircraft:
  • The landing gears are retracted to the uplock position.
On panel 402VU:
  • The red lights go off.
   (4) Depressurize the Green hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001).

   (1) On panel 110VU:
     (a) Make sure that the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle is in the fully counterclockwise position.
     (b) Make sure that the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle is folded into the center console.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are installed on the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle to tell persons not to operate the landing gears.
   (2) Install the JACK - SAFETY STAY at FR73/74.
