A. Safety Precautions
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-910-002)
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) On the panel 400VU:
  • make sure that the landing-gear control-lever 6GA is in the DOWN position
  • put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
   (3) On the panel 110VU, make sure that the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle is folded into the center console.
   (4) Make sure the safety device is installed on the applicable MLG (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT ALL THE CIRCUITS IN MAINTENANCE ARE ISOLATED BEFORE YOU SUPPLY ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE AIRCRAFT. UNWANTED ELECTRICAL POWER CAN BE DANGEROUS.
   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Depressurize the Green hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001).

4. Procedure
Subtask 32-12-00-980-050-A
A. Manual Operation
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (1) In the avionics compartment on the panel 188VU:
     (a) Remove the 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy - from the safety cover of the L/G DOWN VMO/MMO SELECTION switch 22FP.
     (b) Set the L/G DOWN VMO/MMO SELECTION switch 22FP to L/G DOWN.

B. Removal of the MLG Door Assembly and Attaching Parts
CAUTION: DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACES. THE COMPONENTS ARE MADE OF CARBONFIBER REINFORCED PLASTIC.
   (1) Open the applicable MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (2) Remove the applicable MLG door assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-11-000-001).
   (3) Remove and retain all the nuts and bolts from the MLG door hinge attachment points (4).
   (4) Remove and discard the cotter pins (1) from the nuts (2).
   (5) Remove and retain the:
  • nuts (2)
  • washers (3)
  • bolts (6)
  • bonding straps (5)
    from the door hinge attachment points (4).
   (6) Remove the applicable MLG door-actuating cylinder (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-35-000-001).
   (7) Remove the applicable MLG door swivel-joint assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-38-000-001).
   (8) Remove and retain the nuts (17), the bolts (14), the washers (15) and the clamps (16) from the flexible hoses (13).
   (9) Disconnect the connectors (18) from the elbow connectors (19) and remove and retain the flexible hoses (13).
   (10) Put a PLUG - BLANKING on the elbow connectors (19).
NOTE: Make sure that the blanking plugs are correctly installed before each flight if subsequent flights in this configuration are necessary.

C. ECAM Display During Flight with One MLG Door Assembly Missing
NOTE: The MLG and the NLG must be extended at all times during flight with one MLG door missing (control lever 6GA in the DOWN position).
   (1) The ECAM displays (for the applicable missing MLG door) are as follows:
     (a) ECAM indications:
  • door position hinge bar - DOOR IN TRANSIT (amber)
  • landing gear locked down triangles (green).
     (b) ECAM warnings:
  • L/G DOORS NOT CLOSED (amber) - in flight phases 1, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9 and 10.
NOTE: The warning(s) that follow will only show if LGCIU 1 and/or 2 are reset above 70 knots (or a power interrupt occurs above 70 knots).
  • L/G RECYCLE, MAX SPEED 250 KNOTS, INCREASED FUEL CONSUMPTION.
     (c) ECAM INOP system:
  • L/G DOOR.

D. Removal of the MLG Fixed Fairing Assembly and Attaching Parts
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
CAUTION: DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACES. THE COMPONENTS ARE MADE OF CARBONFIBER REINFORCED PLASTIC.
   (1) Remove the applicable fixed fairing assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-14-000-001).
   (2) Remove and retain all the nuts and bolts that attach the fixed fairing assembly from the MLG.
   (3) Remove and discard the cotter pin (51) from the nut (50).
   (4) Remove the nut (50), the washer (49) and the bolt (48). Remove and retain the bonding strap (47) from the bracket (46).
   (5) Install the bolt (48), the washer (49) and the nut (50).
   (6) Safety the nut (50) with a new AIPC 32-11-11-80-090 COTTER PIN (51).
   (7) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.
06AAB1) to the head of the bolt (48) and the nut (50).
   (8) Remove and discard the 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy - from the bolts (53) and (56).
   (9) Remove the bolt (56), the washer (55) and the bonding strap (54) from the bracket (52). Retain the bonding strap (54).
   (10) Install the washer (55) and the bolt (56).
   (11) TORQUE the bolt (56) to between 1.808 and 0.904 m.daN (160.00 and 80.00 lbf.in ) T.
   (12) Safety the bolts (53) and (56) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
   (13) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.
06AAB1) to the heads of the bolts (53) and (56).

D. Removal of the MLG Fixed Fairing Assembly and Attaching Parts

CAUTION: DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACES. THE COMPONENTS ARE MADE OF CARBONFIBER REINFORCED PLASTIC.
   (1) Remove the applicable fixed fairing assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-14-000-001).
   (2) Remove and retain all the nuts and bolts that attach the fixed fairing assembly from the MLG.
   (3) Remove and discard the cotter pin (51) from the nut (50).
   (4) Remove the nut (50), the washer (49) and the bolt (48). Remove and retain the bonding strap (47) from the bracket (46).
   (5) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Hydraulic (Material No.06LDG6) to the shank and the threads of the bolt (48).
   (6) Install the bolt (48), the washer (49) and the nut (50).
   (7) TORQUE the nut (50) to between 1.8 and 0.9 m.daN (159.29 and 79.65 lbf.in ) T.
   (8) Safety the nut (50) with a new
AIPC 32-11-11-80-090 COTTER PIN (51) or AIPC 32-11-85-80-090 COTTER PIN (51).
   (9) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.
06AAC5) to the nut (50), the washer (49) and the head of the bolt (48).
   (10) Remove and discard the 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy - from the bolts (53) and (56).
   (11) Remove the bolt (56), the washer (55) and the bonding strap (54) from the bracket (52). Retain the bonding strap (54).
   (12) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Hydraulic (Material No.06LDG6) to the shank and the threads of the bolt (56).
   (13) Install the washer (55) and the bolt (56).
   (14) TORQUE the bolt (56) to between 2.9 and 2.7 m.daN (21.39 and 19.91 lbf.ft ) T.
   (15) Safety the bolts (53) and (56) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (16) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.
06AAC5) to the:
  • head of the bolts (53) and (56)
  • washer (55).

D. Removal of the MLG Fixed Fairing Assembly and Attaching Parts

CAUTION: DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACES. THE COMPONENTS ARE MADE OF CARBONFIBER REINFORCED PLASTIC.
   (1) Remove the applicable fixed fairing assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-14-000-001).
   (2) Remove and keep all the nuts and bolts that attach the fixed fairing assembly from the MLG.
   (3) Remove and discard the cotter pin (51) from the nut (50).
   (4) Remove the nut (50), the washer (49) and the bolt (48). Remove and keep the bonding strap (47) from the bracket (46).
   (5) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Hydraulic (Material No.06LDG6) to the shank and the threads of the bolt (48).
   (6) Install the bolt (48), the washer (49) and the nut (50).
   (7) TORQUE the nut (50) to between 1.8 and 0.9 m.daN (159.29 and 79.65 lbf.in ) T.
   (8) Safety the nut (50) with a new
AIPC 32-11-11-80-090 COTTER PIN (51) or AIPC 32-11-85-80-090 COTTER PIN (51).
   (9) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.
06AAC5) to the nut (50), the washer (49) and the head of the bolt (48).
   (10) Remove and discard the 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy - from the bolts (53) and (56).
   (11) Remove the bolt (56), the washer (55) and the bonding strap (54) from the bracket (52). Keep the bonding strap (54).
   (12) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Hydraulic (Material No.06LDG6) to the shank and the threads of the bolt (56).
   (13) Install the washer (55) and the bolt (56).
   (14) TORQUE the bolt (56) to between 2.9 and 2.7 m.daN (21.39 and 19.91 lbf.ft ) T.
   (15) Safety the bolts (53) and (56) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (16) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.
06AAC5) to:
  • The head of the bolts (53) and (56)
  • The washer (55).

E. Removal of the Secondary Hinged Fairing and Attaching Parts
CAUTION: DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACES. THE COMPONENTS ARE MADE OF CARBONFIBER REINFORCED PLASTIC.
   (1) Remove the MLG fixed fairing assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-14-000-001).
   (2) Remove the secondary hinged fairing (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-13-000-001).
   (3) Remove and retain all the nuts and bolts that attach the secondary hinged fairing from the MLG.
   (4) Remove the secondary hinged fairing attachment (Ref. AMM TASK 57-26-21-000-001).
   (5) Remove and retain all the nuts and bolts that attach the secondary hinged fairing attachment from the MLG.
   (6) Identify the position of the hinged fairing mounting plate (66) before you remove it.
   (7) Remove and discard the cotter pin (69) from the nut (68).
   (8) Remove and retain the nut (68) and the washer (70).
   (9) Remove and retain the:
  • nuts (73)
  • bolts (67)
  • hinged fairing mounting plate (66)
  • shim (71)
  • packer (72).
   (10) Remove and retain the:
  • bolt (83)
  • washer (82)
  • bonding strap (84)
  • nut (75)
    from the transfer block (80).
   (11) Remove and retain the:
  • bolt (79)
  • washer (78)
  • pin (77)
  • spacer (76)
  • threaded insert (81)
    from the transfer block (80).
   (12) Remove and retain the actuating rod (74) from the transfer block (80).
   (13) Install the MLG fixed fairing assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-14-400-001).
