A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the engine 1 (2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) below the applicable pylon, zone 470 (480).
   (2) Remove the pylon access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-000-002):

B. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) below the applicable pylon, zone 470 (480).
   (2) Remove the pylon access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-000-804):

C. Preparation for Inspection
   (1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do the inspection of the area.
   (2) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the aft attachment fitting lug.
   (3) Make sure that there is no TPS layer and if there is a TPS layer, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 57-26-00-210-054-A
A. Detailed Inspection of Outer-Wing Aft-Pylon Attachment-Fitting-Lug
NOTE: If the top bearing sealant shows signs of cracks, the replacement of the sealant is not necessary.
   (1) Examine the aft attachment fitting lug. Make sure that:
  • there are no cracks
  • there is no corrosion
  • the protective treatment is in the correct condition.
NOTE: If necessary, refer to the SRM 572600 for the correct repair procedure.
   (2) Examine the top and bottom aft attachment bearings. Make sure that:
  • the bearings are in the correct condition
  • the bearings show no signs of movement
  • the top bearing sealant shows no signs of cracks.
NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the pylon to do these procedures.
   (3) If the bearings show signs of movement:
     (a) Make a visual inspection of the lockwasher and the locknut for damage.
     (b) If damage to the lockwasher or the locknut is found, then these items should be replaced:
   (4) Examine the forward and aft attachment bolts. Make sure that the bolts show no signs of movement.
NOTE: It is not necessary to re-apply sealant on the top bearing.
   (5) If the bolts show signs of movement:
     (a) Make a visual inspection of the lockwasher and the slotted nut for damage.
     (b) If damage to the lockwasher or the slotted nut is found, then these items should be replaced:

   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
