A. Safety Precautions
(1) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the engine 1 (2).

B. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) below the applicable pylon, zone 470 (480).
(2) Remove the pylon access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-000-002):

for the LH pylon, remove 471CL 475BL 471BR 475BR 476BR 472BR
for the RH pylon, remove 481BL 485BL 481CR 485BR 486BR 482CR.

B. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) below the applicable pylon, zone 470 (480).
(2) Remove the pylon access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-000-804):

for the LH pylon, remove 471AL 471BL 471CL 472AR 472BR
for the RH pylon, remove 481AL 481BL 482AR 482BR 482CR.

C. Preparation for Inspection
(1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do the inspection of the area.
(2) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the aft attachment fitting lug.
(3) Make sure that there is no TPS layer and if there is a TPS layer, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).

4. Procedure
Subtask 57-26-00-210-054-A

A. Detailed Inspection of Outer-Wing Aft-Pylon Attachment-Fitting-Lug

NOTE: If the top bearing sealant shows signs of cracks, the replacement of the sealant is not necessary.

(1) Examine the aft attachment fitting lug. Make sure that:

there are no cracks
there is no corrosion
the protective treatment is in the correct condition.

NOTE: If necessary, refer to the SRM 572600 for the correct repair procedure.

(2) Examine the top and bottom aft attachment bearings. Make sure that:

the bearings are in the correct condition
the bearings show no signs of movement
the top bearing sealant shows no signs of cracks.

NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the pylon to do these procedures.

(3) If the bearings show signs of movement:
(a) Make a visual inspection of the lockwasher and the locknut for damage.
(b) If damage to the lockwasher or the locknut is found, then these items should be replaced:

for the top aft attachment bearing (Ref. AMM TASK 57-26-12-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 57-26-12-400-001).
for the bottom aft attachment bearings (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-17-000-003) and (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-17-400-003).

(4) Examine the forward and aft attachment bolts. Make sure that the bolts show no signs of movement.

NOTE: It is not necessary to re-apply sealant on the top bearing.

(5) If the bolts show signs of movement:
(a) Make a visual inspection of the lockwasher and the slotted nut for damage.
(b) If damage to the lockwasher or the slotted nut is found, then these items should be replaced:

for the forward attachment bolts (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-17-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-17-400-001).
for the aft attachment bolts (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-17-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-17-400-002).

5. Close-up

(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install the pylon access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-400-002):

for the LH pylon, install 471CL 475BL 471BR 475BR 476BR 472BR
for the RH pylon, install 481BL 485BL 481CR 485BR 486BR 482CR.

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install the pylon access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-400-804):

for the LH pylon, install 471AL 471BL 471CL 472AR 472BR
for the RH pylon, install 481AL 481BL 482AR 482BR 482CR.

B. Removal of Equipment
(1) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(2) Remove the access platform(s).
(3) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
