A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine 1(2).
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 54-51-00-040-059-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine 1(2).

MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER IS LOCKED. IF NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE REVERSER.
(1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-481-041). B. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
Subtask 54-51-00-010-060-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER IS LOCKED. IF NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE REVERSER.
(1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012). C. Get Access
(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
(a) For the left pylon, in zones 410 and 470
(b) For the right pylon, in zones 420 and 480.
(2) Remove the pylon-to-wing access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-000-002):
(a) For the left pylon: 471AL 472AR
(b) For the right pylon: 481AL 482AR.
(3) Remove the pylon lateral access-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-21-000-001):
(a) For the left pylon: 415BL 415BR
(b) For the right pylon: 425BL 425BR.
Subtask 54-51-00-010-060-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
(a) For the left pylon, in zones 410 and 470
(b) For the right pylon, in zones 420 and 480.
(2) Remove the pylon-to-wing access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-000-002):
(a) For the left pylon: 471AL 472AR
(b) For the right pylon: 481AL 482AR.
(3) Remove the pylon lateral access-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-21-000-001):
(a) For the left pylon: 415BL 415BR
(b) For the right pylon: 425BL 425BR.
C. Get Access
(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
(a) For the left pylon, in zones 410 and 470
(b) For the right pylon, in zones 420 and 480.
(2) Remove the pylon-to-wing access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-000-002):
(a) For the left pylon: 471BL 471BR
(b) For the right pylon: 481BL 481BR.
(3) Remove the pylon lateral access-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-21-000-001):
(a) For the left pylon: 415BL 415BR
(b) For the right pylon: 425BL 425BR.
Subtask 54-51-00-020-062-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
(a) For the left pylon, in zones 410 and 470
(b) For the right pylon, in zones 420 and 480.
(2) Remove the pylon-to-wing access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-000-002):

(3) Remove the pylon lateral access-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-21-000-001):
(a) For the left pylon: 415BL 415BR
(b) For the right pylon: 425BL 425BR.
D. Removal of the Spigot Ball Joint
(1) Remove the spigot ball joint (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-41-000-001).
Subtask 54-51-00-110-062-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the spigot ball joint (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-41-000-001).
E. Preparation of the Inspection Area
(1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do a satisfactory inspection of the area.
(2) If not, clean the inspection area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(3) Make sure that there is no Temporary Protection System (TPS) layer and if there is a TPS layer, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do a satisfactory inspection of the area.
(2) If not, clean the inspection area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(3) Make sure that there is no Temporary Protection System (TPS) layer and if there is a TPS layer, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
Subtask 54-51-00-220-061-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Inspection
Pylon Spigot - Receptacle Fitting ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
Pylon Spigot - Receptacle Fitting ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(1) Do a detailed inspection of the upper surface of the pylon spigot receptacle for damage or discontinuities. This inspection includes the fitting bore and the surface around the upper spar.
(2) Make sure that there is no:
(a) Corrosion damage:
- If you find corrosion, refer to the Structural Repair Manual ( SRM 512200) for the corrosion types, inspection, removal and subsequent corrosion protection.
(b) Other damage (scratches, cracks, gouges, dents, creases):
- If you find this type of damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual ( SRM 511100) for the damage types, classification and corrective action.
5. Close-up Pylon Spigot - Receptacle Fitting ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL Pylon Spigot - Receptacle Fitting ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (2) Make sure that there is no:
(a) Corrosion damage:
- If you find corrosion, refer to the Structural Repair Manual ( SRM 512200) for the corrosion types, inspection, removal and subsequent corrosion protection.
(b) Other damage (scratches, cracks, gouges, dents, creases):
- If you find this type of damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual ( SRM 511100) for the damage types, classification and corrective action.

A. Installation of the Spigot Ball Joint
(1) Install the spigot ball joint (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-41-400-001).
Subtask 54-51-00-410-061-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Install the spigot ball joint (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-41-400-001).
B. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install the pylon lateral access-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-21-400-001):
(a) For the left pylon: 415BL 415BR
(b) For the right pylon: 425BL 425BR.
(3) Install the pylon-to-wing access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-400-002):
(a) For the left pylon: 471AL 472AR
(b) For the right pylon: 481AL 482AR.
Subtask 54-51-00-410-061-G ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install the pylon lateral access-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-21-400-001):
(a) For the left pylon: 415BL 415BR
(b) For the right pylon: 425BL 425BR.
(3) Install the pylon-to-wing access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-400-002):
(a) For the left pylon: 471AL 472AR
(b) For the right pylon: 481AL 482AR.
B. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install the pylon lateral access-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-21-400-001):
(a) For the left pylon: 415BL 415BR
(b) For the right pylon: 425BL 425BR.
(3) Install the pylon-to-wing access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-400-002):
(a) For the left pylon: 471BL, 471BR
