WARNING:
DO NOT TOUCH THE APU UNTIL IT IS SUFFICIENTLY COOL TO PREVENT BURNS WHEN YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE TASK(S).
WARNING:
BEFORE YOU START WORK, YOU MUST PUT ON A SAFETY HARNESS AND ATTACH IT TO THE ACCESS PLATFORM. WITHOUT A SAFETY HARNESS, YOU CAN FALL. THIS CAN KILL YOU OR CAUSE YOU INJURY.
WARNING:
LOCK THE MECHANISM OF THE ACCESS DOOR 316AR WITH THE PIP PIN WHEN YOU OPEN THE ACCESS DOOR. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY.
CAUTION:
DO NOT START THE APU WITH ACCESS DOORS 315AL AND 316AR OPEN/REMOVED.
THE APU FIRE EXTINGUISHER SYSTEM IS NOT SUFFICIENT TO EXTINGUISH A FIRE IF THE ACCESS DOORS 315AL AND 316AR ARE OPEN/REMOVED.

Subtask 49-90-00-860-081-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) On panel 25VU, make sure that the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off).
(3) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the APU.
(4) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
Subtask 49-90-00-865-080-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).

C. Get Access
(1) Put on and attach the HARNESS, SAFETY before you start work in the work area.
(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position below APU access doors 315AL and 316AR.
(3) Open APU access doors 315AL and 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(4) Set light control switch 11LJ to the ON position.
4. Procedure(1) Put on and attach the HARNESS, SAFETY before you start work in the work area.
(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position below APU access doors 315AL and 316AR.
(3) Open APU access doors 315AL and 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(4) Set light control switch 11LJ to the ON position.
Subtask 49-90-00-020-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Oil Sight Glass
(1) Drain the oil (Ref. AMM TASK 49-90-00-600-005).
(2) Hold the marked plate (3), the sight gauge (2) and the gasket (1) and remove the bolts (5) and the washers (4).
(3) Remove the marked plate (3), the sight gauge (2) and the gasket (1).
(4) Discard the gasket (1).
Subtask 49-90-00-420-054-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Drain the oil (Ref. AMM TASK 49-90-00-600-005).
(2) Hold the marked plate (3), the sight gauge (2) and the gasket (1) and remove the bolts (5) and the washers (4).
(3) Remove the marked plate (3), the sight gauge (2) and the gasket (1).
(4) Discard the gasket (1).
B. Installation of the Oil Sight Glass
(1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(2) Lubrication of the bolts (5):
(a) Lubricate the bolts (5) with the Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine Low Temp. - (Material No.03ABB1) or the Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine - - (Material No.03ABA1) .
(3) Install the new AIPC 49-91-04-52-055 GASKET (1), the sight gauge (2) and the marked plate (3) with the washers (4) and the bolts (5).
(4) Measure the locking torque for the bolts (5).
(5) Torque of the bolts (5):
(a) You must apply the torque of the bolts equally, first side to side, then top to bottom.
1 TORQUE the bolts (5) to between 42 and 40 lbf.in (0.47 and 0.45 m.daN )

2 Add the locking torque to the above torque value.

(4) Measure the locking torque for the bolts (5).
(5) Torque of the bolts (5):
(a) You must apply the torque of the bolts equally, first side to side, then top to bottom.
1 TORQUE the bolts (5) to between 42 and 40 lbf.in (0.47 and 0.45 m.daN )
.2 Add the locking torque to the above torque value.
D. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

E. Test
(1) Operate the APU for five minutes (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-005) and (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-006).
(2) Examine the oil sight-glass area for signs of oil leaks.
5. Close-up(1) Operate the APU for five minutes (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-005) and (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-006).
(2) Examine the oil sight-glass area for signs of oil leaks.
NOTE: No leaks are permitted.
Subtask 49-90-00-410-074-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Set light control switch 11LJ to the OFF position.
(3) Close APU access doors 315AL and 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-410-001).
(4) Remove the access platform(s).
(5) Remove the safety harness.
Subtask 49-90-00-860-082-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Set light control switch 11LJ to the OFF position.
(3) Close APU access doors 315AL and 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-410-001).
(4) Remove the access platform(s).
(5) Remove the safety harness.
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Put the related hydraulic system in the pressurized configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(2) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(1) Put the related hydraulic system in the pressurized configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(2) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
