3. Job Set-up
Subtask 49-00-00-860-066-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) The APU operates to do maintenance tasks (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-005).
   (2) Prepare to energize the aircraft electrical circuits from the external power (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (3) If aircraft system(s) are supplied with bleed air from the APU, stop them.
NOTE: If necessary, prepare the pre-conditioning through the HP ground connection (Ref. AMM TASK 12-33-21-618-001).
   (4) Make sure the lower ECAM DU is on (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001) and shows the APU page.
4. Procedure
Subtask 49-00-00-860-067-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: OBEY THE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS.
CAUTION: DO NOT SET THE BATTERIES TO OFF BEFORE THE AIR INTAKE FLAP IS FULLY CLOSED. IF YOU SET THE BATTERIES TO OFF, AN UNWANTED SHUTDOWN OF THE APU CAN OCCUR IF THERE IS:
  • POWER TRANSFER FROM THE APU GEN TO EXTERNAL POWER, OR
  • DISCONNECTION OF THE EXTERNAL POWER.
SUCH SHUTDOWN IS WITHOUT THE COOLDOWN CYCLE AND WITHOUT DE-OILING AND CAN CAUSE:
  • OIL FUMES AND/OR SMOKE IN THE CABIN
  • AN INCORRECT LOW OIL LEVEL INDICATION ON THE ECAM APU SYSTEM PAGE.
A. APU Shutdown
NOTE: Obey the safety precautions for the operation of the APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-910-002).
ACTION
RESULT
1.If the ON legend in the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is on (the APU supplies bleed air), on the AIR COND section on the panel 30VU:
  • push the APU BLEED pushbutton switch to the off position.
On the AIR COND section on the panel 30VU:
  • the ON legend in the APU BLEED pushbutton switch goes off (the APU bleed air supply stops).

On the APU page on the lower ECAM DU:
  • the APU bleed-valve symbol changes to the closed position.
  • the BLEED pressure decreases.
NOTE: The APU cooldown cycle starts (120 seconds).
2.On the APU section on the panel 25VU:
  • push the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch to the off position.
On the APU section on the panel 25VU:
  • the ON legend in the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch goes off.
NOTE: The ECB (59KD) controls and monitors the APU cooldown cycle and the shutdown sequence.

After the cooldown cycle is complete:
  • the APU shutdown sequence starts.

On the APU section on the panel 25VU:
  • the AVAIL legend in the APU START pushbutton switch goes off.

On the APU page on the lower ECAM DU:
  • the APU indications show that the APU is in the shutdown sequence and stops.

If the ON legend in the APU GEN pushbutton switch is on (the APU generator energizes the aircraft electrical circuits): On the ELEC panel 35VU:
  • the ON legend in the APU GEN pushbutton switch goes off.

On the APU page on the lower ECAM DU:
  • the APU generator symbols change to no power supply.
3.If the ON legend in the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is off (the APU does not supply bleed air), on the APU section on the panel 25VU:
  • push the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch to the off position.
On the APU section on the panel 25VU:
  • the ON legend in the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch goes off.
  • the AVAIL legend in the APU START pushbutton switch goes off.
NOTE: The ECB (59KD) controls and monitors the APU the shutdown sequence.

On the APU page on the lower ECAM DU:
  • the APU indications show that the APU is in the shutdown sequence and stops.

If the ON legend in the APU GEN pushbutton switch is on (the APU generator energizes the aircraft electrical circuits), on the ELEC panel 35VU:
  • the ON legend in the APU GEN pushbutton switch goes off.

On the APU page on the lower ECAM DU:
  • the APU generator symbols change to no power supply.
