Installation of a Toilet Assembly

TASK 38-31-41-400-001-A
Installation of a Toilet Assembly

WARNING: DO NOT DO WORK ON THE TOILET WASTE SYSTEM AND THE POTABLE WATER SYSTEM AT THE SAME TIME. THIS WILL PREVENT CONTAMINATION OF THE POTABLE WATER SYSTEM. SUCH CONTAMINATION CAN BE DANGEROUS TO HEALTH.
WARNING: ALWAYS USE RUBBER GLOVES WHEN YOU DO WORK:
  • ON THE TOILET WASTE SYSTEM, OR
  • ON PARTS THAT HAVE CONTAMINATION FROM THE WASTE SYSTEM.
WHEN YOU COMPLETE THE WORK PROCEDURE, CLEAN YOUR HANDS WITH SOAP AND WATER. THIS WILL PREVENT INFECTION (TOILET WASTE IS DANGEROUS FOR HEALTH).
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
NOTE: The procedure for the installation of all the toilet assemblies is the same.

NOTE: The lavatory modules which have toilet assemblies P/N 14320-002C1 with a manual shutoff valve can also use toilet assemblies with P/N 14330-004B1.
The new lavatory modules which have toilet assemblies P/N 14330-004B1 installed cannot be replaced with the toilet assemblies which have P/N 14320-002C1.
The toilet shroud in the new lavatory modules is smaller. This prevents the installation of toilet assemblies P/N14320-002C1 with a manual shutoff valve.
   (1) Make sure that the potable-water shutoff valve (4) is closed.
   (2) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to open the potable-water shutoff valve (4).
   (3) Put the washers (5) and the toilet assembly (8) in their installation positions.
   (4) Install the washers (6) and the bolts (7).
   (5) Tighten the bolts (7).
   (6) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
   (7) Select the applicable new packing (10):
   (8) Apply a thin layer of Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) to the packing (10).
   (9) Install the packing (10).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE RINSE VALVE SCREEN IS INSTALLED. IF IT IS NOT INSTALLED, WATER CAN FLOW INTO THE ELECTRICAL COMPARTMENT OR BELOW THE TOILET. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
   (10) Install the rinse valve screen (11) on the rinse valve (9) as follows:
     (a) Visually examine the rinse valve screen (11).
     (b) If necessary, clean the rinse valve screen (11) as follows:
1 Put the rinse valve screen (11) in vinegar (5% acetic acid solution) for approximately 30 minutes.
2 Clean the rinse valve screen (11) with clean water.
3 Use the AIR SOURCE FILTERED, DRY to fully dry the rinse valve screen (11).
     (c) If necessary, replace the rinse valve screen (11) with a new AIPC 38-31-41-40-130 RINSE VALVE SCREEN (11) or AIPC 38-31-41-40-030 RINSE VALVE SCREEN (11) or AIPC 38-31-41-40-190 RINSE VALVE SCREEN (11):
  • When the cleaning is not sufficient
  • When the rinse valve screen (11) is worn
  • When the rinse valve screen (11) is damaged.
   (11) Connect the water line (3) to the rinse valve (9) as follows:
CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:
  • ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
  • ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.
THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.
     (a) Connect the water line (3) to the rinse valve (9).
     (b) Tighten the coupling nut of the water line (3).
   (12) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
   (13) Select the applicable new packings (12):
   (14) Apply a thin layer of Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) to the packings (12).
   (15) Install the packings (12) on the flush lines.
   (16) Put the sleeve (14) in position.
   (17) Install and lock the clamp (13).
   (18) Make sure that the clamp (13) is locked correctly:
  • The axial adjustment is not more than 6.35 mm (0.25 in.).
  • The angular misalignment is not more than +/- 4 degree in all the directions around the centerline.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE BONDING STRAP(S) IS(ARE) CONNECTED BEFORE YOU CONNECT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR(S).
   (19) Connect the bonding strap (17) as follows:
     (a) Put the bonding strap (17) in its installation position and install the washers (16), the bolt (15) and the nut (18).
     (b) Do the final protection of the bonding point (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (20) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (21) Connect electrical connector 50MG-A (1) to the flush control unit (2).
   (22) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S) related to the potable-water shutoff valve (4).
