WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
WARNING:
ALWAYS WEAR RUBBER GLOVES, GOGGLES AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHES WHEN YOU DO THIS TASK.
WARNING:
REFER TO THE MANUFACTURER'S MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEETS FOR CONSUMABLE MATERIAL INFORMATION. THIS INCLUDES HAZARDOUS INGREDIENTS, PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS, FIRE, EXPLOSION, REACTIVITY, HEALTH HAZARD DATA, PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING, AND USE OF CONTROL MEASURES.
WARNING:
DO NOT DO WORK ON THE WASTE WATER SYSTEM AND THE POTABLE WATER SYSTEM AT THE SAME TIME.
THIS WILL PREVENT CONTAMINATION OF THE POTABLE WATER SYSTEM. SUCH CONTAMINATION CAN BE DANGEROUS TO HEALTH.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE EQUIPMENT YOU USE FOR THIS PROCEDURE IS CLEAN AND APPROVED FOR THE POTABLE WATER SYSTEM. IF NOT IT CAN CAUSE CONTAMINATION OF THE POTABLE WATER SYSTEM.
NOTE: Before you do the disinfection procedure, do an analysis of the water you will use. Make sure that the analysis result is within the limits given for drinking water by the local authority.

WARNING:
DO NOT GET THE WATER WITH THE DISINFECTANT SOLUTION ON YOUR SKIN OR IN YOUR EYES.
DO NOT LET WATER TOUCH SURFACES OTHER THAN THE WASH BASIN (WHEN THE NOZZLE ASSY IS NOT ON THE FAUCET, THE SOLUTION FLOWS OUT HORIZONTALLY).
TO DO THIS: - PUT ON PROTECTIVE CLOTHING
C. Disinfection of the Potable-Water Distribution System - PUT ON EYE PROTECTION OR GOGGLES
- PUT A GUARD AROUND THE WATER FAUCET OUTLET TO CAUSE SPRAY FROM THE SOLUTION TO FLOW INTO THE WASH BASIN (SPRAY FROM THE SOLUTION MUST NOT GO ON ADJACENT SURFACES).
(1) Open all the manual shutoff valves in the lavatories and the galleys.
(2) Pressurize the potable water system (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-003).
(3) Bleed the potable water system:
(a) In each lavatory, flush each toilet 15 times.
(b) Open the water faucets:
NOTE: If the quantity of contamination in the potable water system is large:
1 In each lavatory, open the water faucet for 3 minutes. - It is necessary to let the disinfection solution flow longer through the water faucets.
- This makes sure that the potable water system is clean.
2 In each wet galley:
a Open the manual shutoff valve.
b If installed, open the water faucet and let 5 l (1.32 USgal) of the disinfection solution flow through the sink.
(c) Close all the potable-water shutoff valves and open them again.
NOTE: This lets the disinfection solution soak on the two faces of the shutoff valves.
(4) Depressurize the potable water system (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-002). NOTE: If the potable water system is depressurized, the solution can flow out of the POTABLE WATER OVERFLOW port, when the potable water tank is filled.
(5) Open the shutoff valve (6). (6) Open the shutoff valve (4).
(7) Fill the potable water system with the disinfectant solution until it flows out of the POTABLE WATER OVERFLOW port (Ref. AMM TASK 12-15-38-613-001).
NOTE: The disinfectant solution will flow into the potable water system by suction caused by the flow of water.
(8) Close the shutoff valve (4). (9) Close the shutoff valve (6).
(10) Pressurize the potable water system (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-003).
(11) Let the disinfectant solution stay in the system for 1 hour.
(12) Do step C.(1) to (10) again and let the solution stay in the system again for 30 minutes.
(13) Disconnect the filling hose (7) from the adaptor (3).

(4) Operate the water faucets in the lavatories and the galleys to flush them.
(a) In the lavatories:
1 Operate each toilet and flush it 15 times.
2 Set each water faucet to the COLD position and fill the washbasin with water to the overflow level (approximately 3 l (0.79 USgal)).
3 Drain the washbasin fully.
4 Set each water faucet to the HOT position and do the procedure again.
(b) In each wet galley:
1 If installed, open the water faucet and let 5 l (1.32 USgal) of water flow through the sink.
Subtask 38-10-00-670-074-A WARNING:
DO NOT GET THE WATER WITH THE DISINFECTANT SOLUTION ON YOUR SKIN OR IN YOUR EYES.
DO NOT LET WATER TOUCH SURFACES OTHER THAN THE WASH BASIN (WHEN THE NOZZLE ASSY IS NOT ON THE FAUCET, THE SOLUTION FLOWS OUT HORIZONTALLY).
TO DO THIS: - PUT ON PROTECTIVE CLOTHING
(1) Drain the potable water system (Ref. AMM TASK 12-24-38-680-001). - PUT ON EYE PROTECTION OR GOGGLES
- PUT A GUARD AROUND THE WATER FAUCET OUTLET TO CAUSE SPRAY FROM THE SOLUTION TO FLOW INTO THE WASH BASIN (SPRAY FROM THE SOLUTION MUST NOT GO ON ADJACENT SURFACES).
(2) Fill the potable water system with clean water (Ref. AMM TASK 12-15-38-613-001).

E. Test for Remaining Disinfectant
(1) Examine the potable water in all galleys and lavatories for remaining disinfectant.
(a) Do the test with Test Strips for Free Chlorine.
(b) Carefully let the water flow on the test strip at the water faucets in the galleys and lavatories.
(2) If the test shows that there is remaining disinfectant that is more than the legal limits in the water, flush the system again.
5. Close-up(1) Examine the potable water in all galleys and lavatories for remaining disinfectant.
(a) Do the test with Test Strips for Free Chlorine.
(b) Carefully let the water flow on the test strip at the water faucets in the galleys and lavatories.
(2) If the test shows that there is remaining disinfectant that is more than the legal limits in the water, flush the system again.
NOTE: The legal limits are given by the national health authority for drinking water.
