WARNING:
BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON THE POTABLE WATER SYSTEM, PUT ON NEW GLOVES (LATEX OR NITRILE). THIS WILL PREVENT CONTAMINATION OF THE POTABLE WATER SYSTEM.
NOTE: The effectivity of this task is for "ALL". To know if this task is applicable to your aircraft and for more information about the filter, you can refer to the related vendor CMM.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
Subtask 38-12-23-941-052-A WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE POTABLE WATER SYSTEM IS DEPRESSURIZED. A PRESSURIZED SYSTEM CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS WHEN THEY DO WORK ON IT.
(1) Depressurize the potable water system (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-002). C. Safety Precautions
(1) On the water service panel:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the potable water system.

(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the potable water system.
D. Get Access
(a) Remove the galley equipment (Ref. AMM TASK 25-35-00-010-001).
(b) Remove the trolleys.
(2) Remove the galley access panel.
(3) For the galleys with a filter canister, remove the galley access panels aft of:

(1) If installed and necessary, remove the galley equipment:(a) Remove the galley equipment (Ref. AMM TASK 25-35-00-010-001).
(b) Remove the trolleys.
(2) Remove the galley access panel.
(3) For the galleys with a filter canister, remove the galley access panels aft of:
- Trolley compartment M112 for galley G1
- Trolley compartment M518 for galley G5.
D. Get Access
(2) For the galleys with a filter canister, remove the galley access panels aft of:
(a) Loosen the screws of the access panels.
(b) Remove the access panels.
4. ProcedureNOTE: A placard shows the location of the water filter.
(1) Remove the trolleys.(2) For the galleys with a filter canister, remove the galley access panels aft of:
- Trolley compartment M112 for galley G1
- Ice drawer G307 for galley G3B
- Trolley compartment K414 for galley G4B.
(a) Loosen the screws of the access panels.
(b) Remove the access panels.

A. Replacement of the Galley Water-Filter Cartridge (if installed)
(2) In the galley, open the water faucet to release the remaining water.
(3) Get access to the galley water filter.
(4) If applicable, open the air vent (1) on the filter top (2).
(5) Put a CONTAINER - CLEAN, APPLICABLE below the filter shell (6).
(6) Loosen the nut (7) and remove the clamp (4).
(7) Remove the filter top (2).
(8) Remove and discard the gasket (3).
(9) If necessary, remove and discard the filter cartridge (5) from the filter shell (6).
(10) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(11) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(12) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(13) Make sure that the inner side of the filter shell (6) is clean.
(14) Install the new applicable filter cartridge for the:
(17) Put the clamp (4) in its installation position and tighten the nut (7).
(18) If applicable, close the air vent (1) on the filter top (2).
Subtask 38-12-23-960-051-A NOTE: Use a different galley water-filter cartridge, if the water-filter canister (housing) is different (because of different water-filter cartridge dimensions). EVERPURE and GENERAL ECOLOGY are the vendors of the water purification system.
To know the correct water-filter canister, refer to the related vendor CMM or do a check of the water-filter cartridge on the aircraft.
(1) Close the potable-water shut-off valve of the galley potable-water system. To know the correct water-filter canister, refer to the related vendor CMM or do a check of the water-filter cartridge on the aircraft.
(2) In the galley, open the water faucet to release the remaining water.
(3) Get access to the galley water filter.
(4) If applicable, open the air vent (1) on the filter top (2).
(5) Put a CONTAINER - CLEAN, APPLICABLE below the filter shell (6).
(6) Loosen the nut (7) and remove the clamp (4).
(7) Remove the filter top (2).
(8) Remove and discard the gasket (3).
(9) If necessary, remove and discard the filter cartridge (5) from the filter shell (6).
(10) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(11) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(12) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(13) Make sure that the inner side of the filter shell (6) is clean.
(14) Install the new applicable filter cartridge for the:

(17) Put the clamp (4) in its installation position and tighten the nut (7).
(18) If applicable, close the air vent (1) on the filter top (2).
B. Replacement of the Galley Water-Filter Canister (if installed)
Galley Water Filter-Canister ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
Galley Water-Filter Canister ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(2) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to open the potable-water shut-off valve.
(3) In the galley, open the water faucet to release the remaining water.
(4) Get access to the galley water-filter canister (1).
(5) Put the CONTAINER - CLEAN, APPLICABLE below the galley water-filter canister (1).
(6) Put a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) around the water-filter canister interface (2).
(7) Remove the galley water-filter canister (1) and discard it.
(8) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(9) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(10) If disinfection procedures are necessary, install the bypass connector (3) (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-670-002).
(11) If the bypass connector (3) is installed, remove it.
(12) Install the new applicable filter canister:

Galley Water Filter-Canister ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
Galley Water-Filter Canister ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL NOTE: To know the part number of the galley water-filter canister, you can refer to the related vendor CMM.
(1) Close the potable-water shut-off valve of the galley potable-water system. (2) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to open the potable-water shut-off valve.
(3) In the galley, open the water faucet to release the remaining water.
(4) Get access to the galley water-filter canister (1).
(5) Put the CONTAINER - CLEAN, APPLICABLE below the galley water-filter canister (1).
(6) Put a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) around the water-filter canister interface (2).
(7) Remove the galley water-filter canister (1) and discard it.
(8) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(9) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(10) If disinfection procedures are necessary, install the bypass connector (3) (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-670-002).
(11) If the bypass connector (3) is installed, remove it.
(12) Install the new applicable filter canister:
C. Leak Check of the Galley Water-Filter Cartridge
(1) Pressurize the potable water system (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-003).
(2) Turn the potable-water shut-off valve to the OPEN position.
(3) Open the potable water faucet to bleed the system to remove the black water from the new water-filter cartridge.
(a) If necessary, let the water flow until the black particles are removed from the water.
(4) If necessary, open the water-boiler faucets to bleed each boiler and do a check of the flow of water.
(5) Examine the housing split line and the vent valve for leaks.
(7) Remove the CONTAINER - CLEAN, APPLICABLE.
(8) Dry the work area with a lint-free cotton-cloth Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
Subtask 38-12-23-790-054-A (1) Pressurize the potable water system (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-003).
(2) Turn the potable-water shut-off valve to the OPEN position.
(3) Open the potable water faucet to bleed the system to remove the black water from the new water-filter cartridge.
(a) If necessary, let the water flow until the black particles are removed from the water.
(4) If necessary, open the water-boiler faucets to bleed each boiler and do a check of the flow of water.
(5) Examine the housing split line and the vent valve for leaks.
NOTE: Leaks are not permitted.
(6) Depressurize the potable water system (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-002). (7) Remove the CONTAINER - CLEAN, APPLICABLE.
(8) Dry the work area with a lint-free cotton-cloth Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
D. Leak Check of the Galley Water-Filter Canister
(1) Pressurize the potable water system (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-003).
(2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S) related to the potable-water shut-off valve.
(3) Turn the potable-water shut-off valve to the OPEN position.
(4) Open the potable water faucet to bleed the system and to remove the black water from the new water filter canister:
(a) If necessary, let the water flow until the black particles are removed from the water.
(5) Examine the water-filter canister thread with the O-ring and the vent valve for leaks:
(a) Make sure that there are no leaks.
(6) Examine the connection between the water-filter canister interface and the galley water-filter canister for leaks:
(a) Make sure that there are no leaks.
(7) Depressurize the potable water system (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-002).
(8) Remove the CONTAINER - CLEAN, APPLICABLE.
(9) Dry the work area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
5. Close-up(1) Pressurize the potable water system (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-003).
(2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S) related to the potable-water shut-off valve.
(3) Turn the potable-water shut-off valve to the OPEN position.
(4) Open the potable water faucet to bleed the system and to remove the black water from the new water filter canister:
(a) If necessary, let the water flow until the black particles are removed from the water.
(5) Examine the water-filter canister thread with the O-ring and the vent valve for leaks:
(a) Make sure that there are no leaks.
(6) Examine the connection between the water-filter canister interface and the galley water-filter canister for leaks:
(a) Make sure that there are no leaks.
(7) Depressurize the potable water system (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-002).
(8) Remove the CONTAINER - CLEAN, APPLICABLE.
(9) Dry the work area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
Subtask 38-12-23-410-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) For the galleys with a filter canister, install the galley access panels aft of:

(a) Install the trolleys.
(b) Install the galley equipment (Ref. AMM TASK 25-35-00-410-001).

(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install the access panels as follows:
(a) Put the access panels in their correct installation positions.
(b) Tighten the screws of the access panels.
(3) For the galleys with a filter canister, install the galley access panels aft of:
