To do a leak test of the landing gear actuators when the aircraft jacks are not available.

3. Job Set-up

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
   (2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (3) On the panel 400VU
  • make sure that the landing-gear control-lever 6GA is in the DOWN position
  • put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear or the landing gear doors.
   (4) On the panel 110VU, make sure that the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle is folded into the center console.

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the MLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (2) Make sure that the 460005835 SLEEVE - GROUND LOCK is on the applicable main gear door actuator.
   (3) Open the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
   (4) Make sure that a 98D32203502000 SAFETY PIN - NLG DOOR is installed in each NLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-002).

   (1) Do the flight configuration precautions (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001).

D. Installation of the Test Equipment
   (1) Use the TIE WRAP(S) to install the 98F32304000000 TARGET-FALSE on:
  • NLG extension proximity-sensors 24GA and 25GA
  • Left MLG extension proximity-sensors 21GA and 23GA
  • Right MLG extension proximity-sensors 20GA and 22GA.

E. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) To energize the aircraft electrical circuits, do one of the two steps that follow:
NOTE: You can energize the aircraft electrical circuits from an external source or from the aircraft APU as necessary.
     (a) If you energize the electrical circuits from an external source, do the procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
     (b) If you energize the electrical circuits from the APU, do the steps that follow:
       1 Energize the electrical circuits from the APU (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
       2 Set ADIRU 1 or 3 to ON.
       3 On panel 20VU, set the applicable IR1 or IR3 selector switch to the ATT position.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE CONTROLS AGREE WITH THE POSITION OF THE ITEMS THEY OPERATE BEFORE YOU PRESSURIZE A HYDRAULIC SYSTEM. UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF HYDRAULICALLY OPERATED ITEMS CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (2) Pressurize the Green hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 32-31-00-790-051-A
A. Leak Test of the Landing Gear Actuators with the Aircraft Weight on Wheels
   (1) On panel 400VU, move the landing gear control-lever (6GA) to the UP position.
   (2) Examine the landing gear actuators for leaks (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-790-001).
   (3) On panel 400VU, move the landing gear control-lever (6GA) to the DOWN position.
   (4) Examine the landing gear actuators for leaks (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-790-001).
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Close the MLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
   (2) Close the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-410-001).

B. Depressurize the Hydraulic System
   (1) Depressurize the Green hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001).

C. De-energize the Electrical Circuits
   (1) If you have energized the electrical circuits from an external source, do the procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
   (2) If you have energized the electrical circuits from the APU, do the steps that follow:
     (a) Set the ADIRU 1 or 3 to OFF.
     (b) On the panel 20VU , set the applicable IR1 or IR3 selector switch to the OFF position.
     (c) De-energize the electrical circuits supplied from the APU (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).

D. Removal of the Safety Devices
   (1) Remove and discard the TIE WRAP(S).
   (2) Remove the 98F32304000000 TARGET-FALSE from:
  • NLG extension proximity-sensors 24GA and 25GA
  • Left MLG extension proximity-sensors 21GA and 23GA
  • Right MLG extension proximity-sensors 20GA and 22GA.

E. Flight Configuration Precautions
   (1) Put the aircraft back to the ground configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-002).

F. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the SAFETY BARRIER(S).
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
